Prime 1000 Steak & Cocktail House is a fantastic stop for those looking for lunch or dinner, and it serves classic steakhouse fare in an upbeat, stylish setting. The only thing that rivals the food in terms of quality is its excellent service, and each staff member there is dedicated to creating a wonderful experience for all the guests. Since its beginning, Prime 1000 has earned plenty of 4- and 5-star reviews from both critics and loyal patrons.
Those dining at Prime 1000 can order a variety of entrees. You can start off with choices, such as crab cakes or mussels, and then move on to the chef's soup of the day, a Caesar salad, a New York strip or a tuna steak. There are also plenty of beverages and desserts available to complement your meal.
Our server Jennifer was the bomb. Great recommendations. Great service. Top 5 meal I've ever had. Expensive but worth every dime.
Thank you for taking special care of us on our anniversary! I appreciate the extra touch of the sparkling juice for our toast since I am pregnant:) every employee was friendly and made a point to acknowledge us. Thank you for a nice night out!
The service and ambiance were great, but the food quality was horrible. This place pride's itself on being a "prime" steakhouse serving some of the top quality meat in the entire country, or at least that is what was presented to us. My group went their specifically to have a great steak. The prices for the food of this place is listed as a top notch steakhouse would be listed, but the food itself tasted as if it was from a bargain grocery store. I have cooked $20 steaks on my grill at home that were better than what this place served. If this is truly one of the top steak places in St. Louis then that is just sad and pathetic. I was very disappointed in everything from the appetizers, salads, sides to the main entree. All three of us ordered a different steak, and we were all extremely disappointed. My one friend only ate about 4 bites only out of hunger of his. I actually would imagine that an Outback Steak House has a better tasting steak than this place. I guess you go to this place to pay for the atmosphere because it isn't for the food that is served. I have been to many top notch steak houses in the country, and this place isn't even close to any of those. I would never recommend this place to anyone who is going there to eat. I would also be surprised with the level of quality of food they serve if they are even able to stay in business another year. I grill regularly and I can safely say I cook far superior steaks on my grill in the backyard than this place is able to. We honestly contemplated asking for our money back it was that bad, especially at the price they charge. Save yourself the money and just go to a local bar and order food because trust me it will be much better than what they serve here.
We were going to have dinner but after the appetizer we were dissapointed so we went elsewhere
The service and food were both excellent. My girlfriend and I both had the French onion soup and it was the best we had ever had!
We've been to many fine dining restaurants, none of which had a waiter that couldn't even pronounce the menu let alone have any idea of what anything was. The steak was pretty good as were the brussel sprouts but that's it. The sauces that are available at a price to accompany the steaks were virtually tasteless and cold. The mac n cheese tasted like a flour rue without cheese. The ceasar salad my wife ordered came out without dressing, the waiter said are you sure? It was obvious the salad was dry as a bone... I don't mind spending $200+ for a meal but I expect an experience that far exceeds anything you'll ever get from this restaurant. We'll never go back and I'd never recommend to anyone else. You will get a better meal at Longhorn for about a quarter of the price.
I don't want to sound like one of those impossible to please, wining diners, but we were really unhappy with our meal here. We went as part of the Downtown Restaurant Week Special. The fit out is odd. The set menu was ok, but the "add ons" quickly doubled the set price (before tip!). They forgot one salad but that was quickly replaced. The crab cake (upcharge) was not fantastic. We were excited when we saw the prices on regular menu...$60 steak type place...this is going to be a good one. Three of us had the sirloin (no filet on the menu?) - the cut of meat was average. 2/3 steaks were overcooked and one was cold. The potatoes on everyone's plate were cold. One person had the pork - which was huge and undercooked. We apprehensively sent one steak and the pork back, and mentioned the potatoes - to our waiter's credit, he replaced all of them - but half the table was finished before we got the other meals back. The replacement (or better cooked) pork was delicious. The cheesecake (another upcharge) and brownies for dessert were both very good. All of the staff were a little odd, which was kind of off-putting. Would not eat here again, and certainly thankful that we didn't pay the regular price (as even the Restaurant Special price was way too much for the food/ambiance/service that we got).
My guests and I dined at Prime 1000 during restaurant week, the food was dismal, the wait staff seemed more preoccupied with up selling the menu than anything. The food was bland, my medium well steak was blah accompanied by tasteless potatoes.
The service and server was extremely slow and inexperienced. One would have that that a special reservation for an anniversary would have warranted the best server and superior service - -- no such luck. This was followed by no bread for one hour, then were told they ran out - at 7:30 on a Friday night - SERIOUSLY?!?! The steaks came out Luke warm at best and I poured every glass of wine (except one) from a $155 bottle of Jayson at the table. HORRIBLE experience! To top it all off, we had two tiny bugs emerge from the Brussels sprouts. NICE.
NEVER AGAIN!!!
I give Prime 1000 a great score when it comes to service and food. Great restaurant and I'll continue to patronize without a doubt!!!'
THE food was salty [pork chop would have been great but too much salt!!!!!!!!!!!! the crab meat was old and fishy and the shrimp were so small it was a joke and the dish was cold.mgr was usless.willnever return this place has gone down hill FAST
Great atmosphere. Great food. Amazing service. Not stuffy at all. Kind of pricy but we'll worth it.
Superb steak!
Read good reviews online and took a chance and booked reservations. Right from the beginning from the valet to the maitre d' to the servers, the service was friendly, welcoming and very attentive. Our waiter, Dean was exceptional offering suggestions, answering questions and even with beer pairing. The ambiance was contemporary , easy to have conversation because it was not too loud. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they even surprised us with a special little birthday treat after dinner. We will be returning. Prices were on par with any other nice steak house.
It was OK. I expected more for the prices.
Worst dining experience in years. Arrived about 25 minutes early. Restaurant was empty. We were sent to bar while table was readied. 1 hour later they led us to the worst table in the house. Noisy, cold and poorly located. When it came time to order we were informed that approximately half the steaks on the menu were unavailable. First time I've ever seen no filets at a steakhouse. We called Ruth's Chris, made a reservation for later in the evening and walked out. We overheard hostess & waitress ridiculing us as we left. Avoid this place at all costs.
Ate at Prime 1000 with some co-workers on a Monday evening. Had a reservation for 6:45 PM. Got there 6:40 PM and was told it would be 15 minutes or so to be seated, even though there were numerous open four person tables visible to us. We were seated at the bar, which was only moderately full, and were told a bartender would be there to take our drink order. 25 minutes later, still no bartender, still no drinks, we were seated. It took almost 20 minutes to place our food orders... 15 minutes later, after we ordered, the waitress came back to tell us they were out of several menu items. It took nearly two hours to get our food. At one point I thought we were being punked. If not for my guests, I would have walked out. The silver lining was that once the food came out, it was excellent. But given the ridiculousness involving the service or lack there of, I would not return unless absolutely necessary.
Prime 1000 is a fantastic restaurant for a business dinner. Delicious food and attentive service made for a very enjoyable and successful evening.
Our service was not good. Waitress for got to bring drinks. Steak was suppose to be 16 oz prime ribeye ordered medium. I got a small tough and chewy steak that was well done. Told my waitress and she took it back. Waited 10 minutes and had to go find her and she told me it would be another ten minutes. We had a lot invested in the night with a hotel nearby and had a very bad experience there.
Very nice place, our table wasn't ready when we arrive, had to about a 10 mins. Food was great. Overall great place
The food was great the service was also wonderful and so was the atmosphere.
When I first walked in I just like the "look/feel" of the place. Our waiter was not stiff, very friendly and informative without being intrusive. I had the grass fed filet. It melted in my mouth. Prime 1000 is definitely my new "go to" place for special occasions.
The only issue we had with our dining experience, we were seated near the front entrance and when patrons entered or exited the building the cold air blasted in. We had to put our coats back on.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. Both of us loved the steaks...I had a filet & he had the huge 20 oz steak! The deviled eggs were great, Cobb salad was tastey too. The waiter was very friendly & went over all of the steaks & sauces thoroughly. I highly recommend Prime 1000 for a special occasion!!
We arrived at the appointed time for our reservation. Service was poor throughout the evening, even though they knew we were celebrating two birthdays. Food was good, but from the time we sat down until we left was three hours. Won't be back!!!!!
Being our first time at the restaurant, we had a few questions regarding the menu. Once asked if we needed help by the server, he began going over a few items in each category of the menu. Once it seemed he was finished, my girlfriend asked him to explain the sauces offered. He abruptly said "I'll get there.." Offered a quick explanation about one sauce and then said "oh and scallops are unavailable". He then quickly walked away without saying another word or asking if we had questions (which we did). We actually thought he had some sort of emergency with the way he walked away from the table. 5-10 minutes later he returned to see if we were ready to order, but we still hasn't determined the side or sauce we wanted with our steak (being there was zero desire for him to explain). I was server through college so I understand it's a stressful job, but from what I could see we were his only table (with the exception of the table of two that left halfway through our meal). Our food was amazing with the one exception of my steak being slightly undercooked (rare rather than medium rare, but still top notch) My girlfriend even commented her steak may have been the best steak she had ever eaten. I will definitely return, with the hope that we don't get the same server who just seemed to have an overall unfriendly demeanor. So unfriendly that we contemplated leaving our anniversary dinner once he rudely walked away. Perhaps he was having a bad day...so I still tipped him 20%
This steak is one of the best I've ever had! It was perfectly cooked to my taste, and both my wife and I loved it! The sides were very good, but the pricing for the package was high ($120 for 30oz steak, two sides and one desert.) We will definitely be back.
Server was very nice / freindly and knowledgable. offered great recommendations and very attentative
Great experience a little noisy due to a party next to our table.
Great food & good service. Nice interiors with interesting light fittings. If you like beef, there are plenty of choices. Roasted Bone Marrow is a must try with pickled vegetables with a twist on the side. Went for smoked half chicken as main course, very generous portion and was not able to finish.
Sanjaya was nice, but he ignored us once we placed our order. The busboy(?) brought us our food and then was the only person to follow up with us after that point. Sanjaya eventually did check in to see if we wanted dessert, but that boat had already sailed. I didn't want to spend anymore money at that point.
The food was OK tasting, but nothing to warrant the $133 the bill was. There was no food presentation. The steak was served on a comically oversized plate by itself with just a cup of their "sauce". The salad was ridiculously small for the amount charged.
We had $100 in gift cards, so the final out of pocket expenses was $46,which if I pretend that is all the meal cost, then the evening wouldn't have been a waste.
Had a business lunch there and got taken care of perfectly. Lunch menu very reasonably priced with a good selection. Nothing super special about the food but everyone was happy with their entrees.
I had the bone marrow, prime strip steak with potato salad, and the pecan pie. All were superb. The bone in which the bone marrow was presented was impressive. When I first cut into the steak, I thought it was going to be dry and chewy, but it was succulent and tender. The pecan pie was a great small dessert to finish with. The water is served from wine bottles, which is a nice touch. Excellent service from Sanjeya. I've added Prime 1000 to my list of places to revisit when I'm next in St Louis.
This was a special occasion, and we chose a night which was light in attendance. Had a great table overlooking Washington Avenue. Mark, our waiter, was outstanding-knowledgeable and helpful. Our steaks were best ever tasted, the chocolate cake was so worthy. The fennel soup was a nice surprise. Overall, a singular experience.

Food was good...but nothing special. I've had better at other STL Restaurants.
very disappointed in the fact that items on the menu were not available. it seemed like there was a menu change and so some of the items although on the menu were not being served and some items that were being served were not on the menu. I didn't have a choice but to have pork chop since I am not a steak person. The pork was definitely tender but the sauce was way too salty.
Our server had excellent product knowledge. From the wine list to draft or bottled beers, his drink recommendation complimented our entree's perfectly. NATDA convention has moved to Nashville so this restaurant will be missed.
Sides were spectacular and the steaks were ds the best ever. We have had steaks at the best St. Louis has to offer many times but Prime 1000 stood above them all. They don't hover over you but the service was friendly, very professional, and the server knew everything about what his chef was preparing. No gimmicks like super hot plates. Just really high quality meat cooked to perfection.
The food and drinks were very good. We had a 2007 bottle of Walton wine that was exceptional. My steak was prepared as ordered as were the appetizers.
The food was great service excellent. Great décor and outside area very nice although it was raining. It was restaurant week and we choose from a prefix menu so I cannot wait to return when we have a full menu available love it!!
