Great appetizer and meal; dessert was just ok, overt sweetness of American suburban restaurants. Service was poor. We were offered a complimentary appetizer for late attendance of the waiter but the service remained poor throughout.
I have been to Prima many times and the mark of a great restaurant is not just great food, but also great food all of the time. Prima is consistently great, and this consistency also carries over to its service and ambience. It isn't cheap for Walnut Creek standards but it's every bit as good as the top Italian restaurants in San Francisco that are considerably more expensive. Highly recommended.
Celebrated friend’s 80th birthday. Food was excellent but noise level was an issue.
Food portions not generous, but tasty. Pricey. Service was uninvolved but polite.
We have been eating here for 30years and have always been amazed by Peter’s cooking. His food is creative and clean.
We often wonder why we eat any place else!
Brought a friend here who was visiting from Canada who is Italian and a vegetarian. Lots of options for her. Had a fabulous meal and our server was fantastic. Will definitely dine here again !
Great dinner with options for specials of the day.
Service was great. We love the valet parking
The food was imaginative, well prepared and the presentation was elegant. The service was outstanding without being obtrusive. Thank goodness there was valet parking available, on weekends this is a very busy area.
This was our first visit and we will definitely return, hopefully soon.
Prima is our favorite restaurant in the Walnut Creek area. Food is authentic, wine list is great, and service fantastic. A can’t miss dinner!
One of my favorite restaurants in Walnut Creek. It’s been a staple in the community for decades.
Absolutely outstanding food and incredible and attentive service
Food and service great. Unfortunately we sat out on the porch by the windows and it was quite loud and noisy out there. Best to stay in the main dining area.
Excellent. Attentive wait staff. Waitress had a good sense of humor. Accommodated our special wine request. Made inquiries of the chef for an "off the menu" item. First choice for a restaurant in the Walnut Creek area. I have been a steady customer since it was just a one door wine shop 25+ years ago.
This is my favorite restaurant. I've been eating here for 20 years. They have the best Pork Chop but this time one of the two was over cooked. We should have sent it back.
Delicious lunch but spendy. Our lunch was $100.00! The lunch menu is limited and pricey. Nonetheless we had a nice lunch. The warm olives were the best. I had the monkfish which was flavorful and well-prepared. My husband had the cannelloni, also yummy. Be prepared to drop some cash when you dine here.
I was with a friend for lunch...it was a rainy day so we were able to sit in the smaller dining room with a fire going............which was lovely ambiance. Our waiter was Antonio and he was excellent! Service was superb (granted, the restaurant was not full and busy) but still, he took care of us. I had the monk fish which was a bit pricey but very tasty. My friend had the minestrone which she said was delicious. We were the last ones dining but we were able to stay a bit longer as we were having a great discussion...........and they let us stay. All in all a favorable experience. Would highly recommend!
Prima is a favorite place. Chef Peter is an amazing talent. He does not get the acclaim that he deserves. He makes our favorite dish ailio olio if we ask nice. Jordana is a special lady too. She makes so sure that you feel at home and enjoy everything. Frank will help you manage the perfect wine list if needed. Love this place!!
We are somewhat biased, since we have been going to Prima for over 30 years and counting plus have seen managers and wine specialist become owners. It is truly a remarkable spot very very nice people....
I have been enjoying Prima for more than 20 years. Always excellent.
Fine and extensive choice of wines to complement the meal.
I have written many reviews for Prima over the past ten years and I have stated that Prima is the absolute best restaurant in the bay area. I feel qualified to make that statement as I am a retired restaurant owner and I know quality and excellent service. Also I have traveled extensively, Europe, South America, Central America, Japan, China and the Caribbean. So if you appreciate excellent food, an extensive wine selection and exceptional service make a reservation at Prima, you will pleased that you did.
Made reservations here for an anniversary and the staff was outstanding! The food was tremendous and it made our special event that much better! We will continue to dine here for all our special occasions.
Best restaurant in Walnut Creek for over 25 years. We ordered fish, beef, lamb, and pork, and every dish was done to perfection. Glad to have this fine dining option in our local downtown.
The food and service (thank you Amanda!) was outstanding!!
Wonderful dinner. Food was fantastic. Som was helpful and Chris our waiter made an enjoyable evening even more fun!
Another wonderful dinner at Prima it never disappoints!
Couldn't say anything but a rave review. The food, service and ambience were great.
Went for birthday celebration and we both had the chef’s menu with wine pairings. It was an Italian Alpine menu, and we are going to that area soon, so we decided to try the menu. We loved the carefully prepared dishes with the wine pairings, best meal in a really long time! Costly, but very special.
We had an excellent dinner with friends. The swordfish was memorable! The service was perfect and for my first time to Prima, a wonderful experience. Thank you!
My chicken was fatty and gross. I returned it for a pork chop which was dry but the marinade on top was good - but overall a total miss. Pasta was average and they were stingy on the meat sauce. Service average.
We recommend getting the chefs four course meal. It is divine and reasonable.
Truly impeccable service and great Italian cuisine.
The food was amazing as always, and service superb...but they are always super stingy on their by-the-glass wine pours. Barely even 4 ounces!!
We arrived early after playing golf and were made to feel welcome. We were able to choose our table in a quiet section so we could easily converse while enjoying the fine food and service
The food was great. The service was slow and the waiter not very helpful when it came to ordering wine
The food wasn’t that great compare to the price ($400 for two). The menu didn't deliver a value or have a wow factor vs cost (I would value the food at $150 for two) actual value of the food $150v/$400c = 37.5%, 62.5% under delivered or inflated price. Nice place I would say.
Great food, service and knowledgeable about the wines of course. A bit noisy at times but I’d return
Food was above average as was our very attentive waiter Alex. He was so aware of all of his tables and spent time to really elaborate on the menu and specials. He made for a very enjoyable dining experience.
The best in the Walnut Creek area
Excellent food. The rack of lamb was the best I have ever had. The service was also great. The server recommended several items. Altogether I delightful evening.
Prima’s treated us to champagne on our special occasion of having met for the first time at Prima’s 15 years ago!
