The John Dory Special was very delicious. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Great food. Can be a little slow at show time on weekend.
We dine at Prima frequently and the reason is simple. This restaurant is simply exceptional in every way. The food is delicious every time and the service is terrific every time.
How can you beat that combination?
We have eaten here many times before the theatre and never have been disappointed. This last meal was superb. Full of flavor and textures and they were wonderful. Both of us had pasta dishes. Finished off with Tiramisu. Service was spot on.
We always come away pleased.
We love dining at Prima - the food and service are always excellent - and this was no exception. The table behind us was ridiculously loud- we couldn’t hear our conversation and I left with a headache. Not Prima’s fault but maybe they should have offered to reseat us. You couldn’t miss how loud this table was.
Incredible Wine List and amazing food. Frank the Sommelier was truly amazing knowledge of Italian wines and we were able to compare pallet notes with each other and he nailed it!
Prima was the best restaurant in Walnut Creek when we moved here 26 years ago and it is still the best restaurant in Walnut Creek, if not in all Contra Costa County. I had braised romaine hearts as an appetizer and my wife a beet salad which were both delicious. My agnolotti (stuffed shells with cheese) and our friend's capellini with Prawns were outstanding as well.
My had wife a vegetarian entree which would make a vegeterian out of the most devoted carnivore and our friend's risotto entree was excellent as well.
Our server was pleasant ,knowledgeable and efficient. Dining out does not get better than this.
Service was excellent! Food was wonderful. There was even music.
Wonderful in every way. Do not miss the warm olives, risotto with chicken, short rib ravioli, budino and chocolate raspberry dessert. Very attentive service and outstanding wine list. Had a wonderful 2 and 1/2 hour lunch.
Very noisy good food good service
excellent food and service. there wasn't any salt and pepper on our table we had to ask for it ....but it wasn't an issue
Great food, great service, only issue was that 1 of our table seats was too close to another table.
How lovely it was to be greeted by the hostess and the wait staff on our anniversary. We had a choice table--window seats in the solarium. The room turned out to be noisier than expected but great for people watching on Main Street. The wood fire roasted romaine ends with pecorino was delicious--a different addition to our meals. A plus for us was having quite a selection of good wines in the half bottle.
Awesome!! Great food and service. Prima is a wonderful place to eat.
Our server, Andrea, was very attentive. The food was excellent. There were four of us: two ordered the chicken, one the lamb and one the beef steak. We were all pleased. We plan to dine there soon.
Great appetizer and meal; dessert was just ok, overt sweetness of American suburban restaurants. Service was poor. We were offered a complimentary appetizer for late attendance of the waiter but the service remained poor throughout.
I have been to Prima many times and the mark of a great restaurant is not just great food, but also great food all of the time. Prima is consistently great, and this consistency also carries over to its service and ambience. It isn't cheap for Walnut Creek standards but it's every bit as good as the top Italian restaurants in San Francisco that are considerably more expensive. Highly recommended.
Celebrated friend’s 80th birthday. Food was excellent but noise level was an issue.
Food portions not generous, but tasty. Pricey. Service was uninvolved but polite.
We have been eating here for 30years and have always been amazed by Peter’s cooking. His food is creative and clean.
We often wonder why we eat any place else!
Brought a friend here who was visiting from Canada who is Italian and a vegetarian. Lots of options for her. Had a fabulous meal and our server was fantastic. Will definitely dine here again !
Great dinner with options for specials of the day.
Service was great. We love the valet parking
The food was imaginative, well prepared and the presentation was elegant. The service was outstanding without being obtrusive. Thank goodness there was valet parking available, on weekends this is a very busy area.
This was our first visit and we will definitely return, hopefully soon.
Prima is our favorite restaurant in the Walnut Creek area. Food is authentic, wine list is great, and service fantastic. A can’t miss dinner!
One of my favorite restaurants in Walnut Creek. It’s been a staple in the community for decades.
Absolutely outstanding food and incredible and attentive service
Food and service great. Unfortunately we sat out on the porch by the windows and it was quite loud and noisy out there. Best to stay in the main dining area.
Excellent. Attentive wait staff. Waitress had a good sense of humor. Accommodated our special wine request. Made inquiries of the chef for an "off the menu" item. First choice for a restaurant in the Walnut Creek area. I have been a steady customer since it was just a one door wine shop 25+ years ago.
This is my favorite restaurant. I've been eating here for 20 years. They have the best Pork Chop but this time one of the two was over cooked. We should have sent it back.
Delicious lunch but spendy. Our lunch was $100.00! The lunch menu is limited and pricey. Nonetheless we had a nice lunch. The warm olives were the best. I had the monkfish which was flavorful and well-prepared. My husband had the cannelloni, also yummy. Be prepared to drop some cash when you dine here.
I was with a friend for lunch...it was a rainy day so we were able to sit in the smaller dining room with a fire going............which was lovely ambiance. Our waiter was Antonio and he was excellent! Service was superb (granted, the restaurant was not full and busy) but still, he took care of us. I had the monk fish which was a bit pricey but very tasty. My friend had the minestrone which she said was delicious. We were the last ones dining but we were able to stay a bit longer as we were having a great discussion...........and they let us stay. All in all a favorable experience. Would highly recommend!
Prima is a favorite place. Chef Peter is an amazing talent. He does not get the acclaim that he deserves. He makes our favorite dish ailio olio if we ask nice. Jordana is a special lady too. She makes so sure that you feel at home and enjoy everything. Frank will help you manage the perfect wine list if needed. Love this place!!
We are somewhat biased, since we have been going to Prima for over 30 years and counting plus have seen managers and wine specialist become owners. It is truly a remarkable spot very very nice people....
I have been enjoying Prima for more than 20 years. Always excellent.
Fine and extensive choice of wines to complement the meal.
I have written many reviews for Prima over the past ten years and I have stated that Prima is the absolute best restaurant in the bay area. I feel qualified to make that statement as I am a retired restaurant owner and I know quality and excellent service. Also I have traveled extensively, Europe, South America, Central America, Japan, China and the Caribbean. So if you appreciate excellent food, an extensive wine selection and exceptional service make a reservation at Prima, you will pleased that you did.
Made reservations here for an anniversary and the staff was outstanding! The food was tremendous and it made our special event that much better! We will continue to dine here for all our special occasions.
Best restaurant in Walnut Creek for over 25 years. We ordered fish, beef, lamb, and pork, and every dish was done to perfection. Glad to have this fine dining option in our local downtown.
The food and service (thank you Amanda!) was outstanding!!
Wonderful dinner. Food was fantastic. Som was helpful and Chris our waiter made an enjoyable evening even more fun!
Another wonderful dinner at Prima it never disappoints!
