Preservation Kitchen celebrates sharing a good meal with friends and family. We believe that all great things begin at the dinner table.
Preservation Kitchen preserves the traditions of regional cuisine and drink. The Northwest seasonal menu supports local producers, and uses sustainable, organic ingredients when possible to create the perfect “fine dining comfort food.” Pair your food with a drink from the extensive book of Wines & Libations to complete your meal.
Preservation Kitchen offers the elegance, warmth, and comfort of celebrating any occasion with the ease of feeling at home with family and friends, but without you doing any of the work. The restored historic 1916 Kaysner Estate was formerly home to Bothell's mayor and is located in a woodsy naturalistic setting. During the summer the outside patio is a relaxing area to grab a cocktail for the daily Happy Hour while enjoying the sprawling grounds.

My turkey dinner was ok, the turkey was not cooked well. My friends had the filet and they really enjoyed it. We felt rushed, they didn't give us a lot of time between courses. Staff was friendly but seemed a little scattered with the bigger thanksgiving crowd.
I’ve been here many times for weekend breakfast and a few times for lunch. This experience was mediocre. The service was the main culprit. My date and I decided to split our meals. We ordered an entrée salad and fish and chips. The server never reminded us that a side salad was included with the fish and chips. Awkwardly, our entrée salad and our fish and chips arrived, followed by the side salad!
Even stranger are a few more things. The side salad arrived after our main course. The entrée salad was split to share, but the fish and chips came on a single plate. Not a big deal and we probably would’ve asked for it that way, but no side plates or questions asked.
Later, the server stopped by to check on us. I was clearly finished with my salad plate and we were picking at the fish and chips. Hands empty, she didn’t feel compelled to grab our plates, as if that’s not her job.
The fish and chips were ok. The spicy chips are a bit of a surprise because sometimes they’re really spicy and sometimes they’re not, at random. The salad was quite delicious.
Note that the restaurant is hard to find. It's not well signed but once you find it, it's a hidden gem. Warm and inviting, with very pleasing service. The food was a little disappointing though. My puttanesca was completely under seasoned. My boyfriend's chicken dish had a biscuit which was slightly burned on top.
The desserts however were amazing! Try the bread pudding... It's out of this world. Would I go again? Probably not anytime soon .
My wife and I went here the other day as part of restaurant week, and were very disappointed. The ambiance was nice, but it went downhill from there. I had the shrimp & grits, and the shrimp were inedible. They weren't cleaned (had sand all over them), and were dry. After trying one, it was apparent that my meal would be the grits. My wife had the wild boar ragu, which was not very hot, but otherwise unremarkable. Despite having a reservation at 6, we were seated at 6:15, and apparently the whole room was available, so not sure what the wait was for. Waitress was okay, but not present or particularly friendly. We definitely won't be returning.
Went for Dine around Seattle, at lunch. We felt PK went all out to make this promotion worthwhile. Three courses (not 2 as we had elsewhere earlier). Good range of options for all three. Portions were surprisingly generous and everything we had was excellent. We go to PK at other times as well and always have a wonderful experience.
We've come here a couple times during SRW and both times, the dish my boyfriend chooses has run out or part of the ingredient has. We just laugh it off and joke about it. However, the staff handles it impeccably and does more than make up for it. This most recent occasion; they brought a small plate of the shrimp and grits, and made another substitution on my boyfriend's meal. Dinner was wonderful. The owner also came out to apologize and speak with us, she was more than gracious and her attention to our dining experience was much appreciated. The dining here is not rushed and the food is wonderful. The staff is warm and welcoming.
We had brunch on a Sunday morning here. We did have a reservation, however it was not busy and there was no one waiting for a table. The restaurant actually seemed pretty empty and being our first time here I was hesitant about that, wondering if the food was going to be good. We got seated quickly, ordered cocktails and coffees and browsed the menu. They unfortunately ran out of biscuits, even though I am not sure how, as a place serving brunch you would allow that to happen... The food was quite good and the service was very prompt, never needing to ask for more water or to have dishes cleared. I would recommend this place to friends/family or anyone who is looking for a cute atmosphere to enjoy a good meal.
I love Preservation Kitchen. It's an old building with a lot of character that really adds to the experience. The food is really nice - high quality honest cooking without any stupid embellishments or cost cutting tricks. Service is perfect. If you've not been here, please don't go - it's perfect right now, if too many more people find out about it there will be lines out of the door.
We hadn't been to this restaurant in awhile despite it being right down the street and couldn't recall why.
First there is a lot to like:
- They allow free corkage on Woodinville wines. Big plus.
- The main was well cooked and seasoned. We both had the salmon.
- the desserts were well done.
- service was just right. Attentive without being pushy.
- salad was outright bland. Little flavor and felt like they didn't try on this one.
- portions were very small. If there was 4 oz of salmon on our plates I'd be surprised. They tried to make it look bigger with a big portion of quinoa.
Overall a decent meal but that salad really started things off wrong.
This was my second visit to PK. First time I had the cioppino (excellent) and this time the mussels (rich and tasty). The grilled bread served with both dishes was perfect for mopping up the sauces. Delicious! Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. Also, while it's nice this is a kid-friendly restaurant, I appreciated the quiet this time around.
Lovely casual brunch. We drove about 30min for this meal because I thought a restaurant in an old house would be lovely, and it was. The food was served very quickly and it was delicious. My son liked the blueberry pancakes, served silver dollar size in a circle. I loved the veggie eggs benedict and my husband ordered the Greek omelet. The omelet was over flowing. The side of roasted potatoes was also delicious. I would have loved a soy latte, but alas no soy milk. I was fine ordering orange juice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would definitely return. Nice outside patio, but we dined inside. There was so many small rooms with tables that the size is deceiving.
Our meal was very good: quinoa & beets & shrimp which my picky picky wife devoured, and our god son didn't leave any of his Ceasars Salad. My spinach & walnut salad was quite good too and ditto their house chardonnay.
I liked the place and the ambience because it reminded me of restaurants in the German speaking regions of South America where I lived many years ago. Cozy, non -glitzy, good food.
Husband and I dined here for my birthday. The atmosphere is lovely, in an old house tucked away from the road with a multiple level nicely landscaped outdoor seating area. The food was absolutely fabulous. Combine that with a couple unique cocktails and scrumptious desserts, and great service...it was a memorable night out.
We were on our way to Woodinville for an afternoon of wine tasting and needed a quick and easy - but good - place to stop for lunch. The Kitchen filled the view. My wife and I both ordered the grilled cheese - excellent - not your everyday sandwich. The homemade potato chips were also excellent. Since the weather was warm, but comfortable, we sat outside on the patio. It was after the lunch rush, so there were only a few parties still being served. Next time we're in the area I would go back to this restaurant and try it out for dinner.
As usual, Preservation Kitchen was delicious. The food was great, the place was quiet and the wait staff was friendly. I had the petite short ribs. The meat was delicious - never tasted better. The sauce was just a little too sweet, but very very tasty. The mashed potatoes were just a little underdone. The roasted root vegetables were hard and unedible. The panne cotta was topped by the most delicious caramel I have ever tasted. But the panne cotta itself tasted old and like it had a skin on it. My niece had the filet mignon and she was over the moon with her dish. Totally satisfied. Her friend had the corn and avocado salad and cleared her plate. It was that good. Unfortunately the veggie burger was sold out. Her friend is making plans for a date night to come back and try it.
Nestled in the trees, in a refurbished home, it's worth the trip to Bothell/Kenmore from our home. The staff is always great to us, whether we bring friends, or just celebrate quietly. Excellent wine list & drinks! The food is superb, and there are small & large items available.
I really enjoy this place. The food is tasty with options for those of us who like things on the healthy side. The wine list is top notch without being too expensive. The chef is very accommodating about special requests. The staff are friendly, kind and truly seem to care about doing a good job. Diners are quiet and relaxed. They have a room upstairs for 8 people if you want to have a small group thing. It feels like home here.
Our server, Ridge, was the only one on but made everyone there feel like they were his special guests. He was fun, attentive, offered great food suggestions, and made the entire occasion perfect. I would totally recommend PK to everyone and especially check to see if Ridge is working!!
We went to Preservation Kitchen with another couple for a evening out away from the kids. We have been here before, but had just forgotten about it. Wow! The food was incredible, delicious creative cocktails before dinner. This is going to be our new go-to for date night. Why drive all the way to Bellevue or Seattle when this little gem is right in our back yard?!!
While i would love to write a great review, the experience was less than stellar. For a Friday evening at dinner time, the restaurant was practically empty, yet the one server we saw was busy taking care of a party on the outside patio. Thus, it was a bit of a wait before we even ordered a cocktail. I cannot fault the server, since she was doing the best she could, however the food is another matter. I ordered a filet, emphasizing to the server i wanted it "RARE", yet it was served very overcooked and not warm. My partner ordered the wild boar dish and it resembled goulash and was a jumble of conflicting tastes. The food aside, the ambiance did not impress. There was a fan running in the corner, and the constant "whirr" was distracting. While the converted old house in which the restaurant was built was quaint, the decor inside was lacking any taste or color. Everything seemed drab and uninspiring. With a little attention to color and style, and with a decent chef, this restaurant could become much more than a typical below average experience.
