Great ambiance, host and server were very nice and friendly. Good variety on food menu... food was amazing!
Decor was stunning yet comfortable. Food was very good. The smoke element added to my salad was fantastic. Was a little disappointed they had a large TV screen in such a beautiful restaurant. Will definitely return on a non football day.
Extremely slow service and was not busy; Andouille sausage (benedict) tasted like an oscar mayer hot dog; bloody mary was the best thing I had; spent $140 for 5—Sunday brunch.
The ambiance was so fun and relaxing. It was perfect for a Sunday brunch with friends! The mimosas and food were delicious.
If you’re looking for a date spot, this is the place to go in San Marcos! With its impeccable service and stellar food, it’s definitely our go-to restaurant.
The staff at the San Marcos location was so pleasant and accommodating. We enjoyed the cozy couch tables and look forward to a eating and enjoying the atmosphere. Great location for celebrating!
It was our second visit and the food was superb! Our table of 4 all ordered different entrees and every dish was perfectly prepared and delicious!
Went to Prep Kitchen to celebrate our friend’s birthday. Always a great time each visit.
Another excellent meal here. Farro with apricot and edamame was a great new dish, and enjoyed the shrimp skewer, sliders and fries as well. You guys did a great job this evening. Will be back again soon!
Food and service very mediocre.
Came for special occasion bday and was disappointed in the overall experience.
Probably will not make an effort to return anytime soon.
Very nice atmosphere, but the food is mediocre. Especially for the price they charge. Get a new chef, really.
Food was great and the staff even better. Friendly, fast, courteous. Great find! Highly recommend
We came here for Sunday dinner and it seemed to take quite a long time for our two meals to arrive (20 mins minimum) when there were not many tables filled. The chicken dinner was very good with the butternut squash but the salmon portion seem to be skimpy for the price. Not sure that we would come back as it wasn't a great value.
Everything we ordered was very good. My 10 year old son especially liked his petit filet steak and cleaned his plate, including the broccolini! Service was also great.
Our waiter was fantastic! He knew what we wanted better than we did.
Pros: Great food - we had the cinnamon roll, fish tacos, fried chicken sandwich, hamburger and shrimp tostada. Super fresh and good flavors. They brought out mini ice creams cones to celebrate my mom's birthday, which was unexpected and delicious.
Cons: It was super hot and uncomfortable. There are lot of windows, but also a lot of sun. The garage doors were up and that brought in flies. The entire meal we were swatting flies from our food. That was annoying. Our server was good, but was the only one on the floor. It was a little slow at times.
Great service and creative food. A bit confusing finding the restaurant amidst current construction.
Restaurant is an open space, even inside. It was a very cool evening and sitting inside was too chilly. Food is good but expensive for what you are served. Small bowl of squash soup $8, beet salad with goat cheese $14 no salad greens were included, I think the menu said some type of nuts were included but they didn't make it to my plate . A single glass of ice tea was $4. They were a bit short staffed and service was not as good as it might have been. I left still hungry and my dining partners had the shrimp dish and a pasta dish. Portions were on the small side for the price.
Food was very good and I also like the Restaurant's layout/ambiance, but the acoustic was very bad. It was unpleasantly loud. You have a rating for noise level unfortunately the highest level is called Energetic, but it wasn't energetic, there were not that many people in the Restaurant. It was downright loud.
We were only 2 and were sat at a 2 people table between two 4 people tables. Each of the 4 people table had 3 people. The Restaurant was 4/5 empty the entire evening. There would have been no harm if they spread us smaller groups apart from each other.
Even though the food is right up my alley and I would love to go back for that, the noise level was so unpleasant that I'm not sure I'll ever go back.
We ordered an appetizer and a salad to split for two people. Both were very good and were served quickly. We waited at least 25 min. to get our entrees. Both were very good. I would recommend for the food, not the service.
First time dining here. Great menu and excellent service!! The seared hamachi was very good and my wife’s burger equally good! We will definitely come back!!
Too my wife there for her birthday. Despite mentioning this in the reservation, there was no acknowledgement of the event. Table was awesome but that's about where it ended. Nothing bad to say but the experience was pretty medocre for the price. Definitely not worth $50/person with one drink each and tip.
Manager was very personable and food good. We actually got a special desert.
It’s great to have a quality, eclectic restaurant in San Marcos, finally. The wine list is interesting as they are presented in old used books. Our book was controversial and we pointed out to management that someone might be offended by the content. He apologized and reviewed all of the books. Oddly there wasn’t any Prosecco on the wine list. Food was great. Wait staff was attentive perhaps too attentive sometimes if that is possible.
Great decor but the food quality doesn’t match the prices. I felt sick from the chicken wings. The pasta bolognese tasted like Chef Boyardee.
This was the second time my husband and I had dinner here. Both time service was great. The food and drinks were delicious.
Flies everywhere!!! They have their sliding doors open and the room was full of flies on a Sunday morning. The flies were all over the table as we were trying to eat. They have a Bloody Mary cart that has bacon strips on it for putting in the Bloody Mary and the flies were all over the bacon and the employees were just shooing the flies away and serving the bacon anyway. When we saw that we left our food, got our bill and left.
Food was good but relatively uninspired. Definitely not worth the premium prices, and the beer and wine selections were poor at best. Good cocktails if you don’t mind spending $12-$14 apiece.
Excellent service, food was fantastic. Slight issue with the bolognase, corrected with no issues. Offered to come dessert because of that, but refused (by us) as all the food was fantastic. Started with Brussels sprouts and fried chicken - awesome. Bolognase and filet were perfect. Smoked s’mores and five cones were delicious. The salted caramel and lemon sorbet (five cones) were outstanding. The drinks were to die for. The “comfort blanket”, expression marrtini and carajllo were fantastic drinks - well made. Ask for a side of vanilla or cream for the carajlllo as it just makes a great drink better.
We will be back - fantastic place for dinner and drinks.
We stopped in for a quick bite before a movie. Our server was great. Quick and attentive. However, I feel it was really expensive, for a local gem type of restaurant. I've been to all the PrepKitchens.
We are regulars there. My husband invited other couples to join for reservation. Our waiter was a bit off. Very pleasant, knew it was a Birthday. Usually the service is excellent. No mention or candle of birthday.
On criticism- the coffee. My husband has always ordered coffee after dinner. He and our other guests commented that the coffee seemed weak and no flavor. The food is so delicious- why not serve delicious coffee? They have French press pots , so flavorful coffee would be fantastic.
Nice addition to the area. Tasty food, nice service. A bit too bright. Overall, I would go back.
Beautiful setting inside the construction area of San Marcos that will eventually be a very cool destination area. The food was quite good. The server was fantastic. Will be back.
I really wanted to like this restaurant but unfortunately I don't think I would recommend it. This restaurant is still pretty new and I think it needs to mature a little bit before I will try it again. They seemed overwhelmed with the number people and probably could have used a bit more staff. The food that we had was very good, there just wasn't enough food on the plate. I would suggest to them that the protein size was just right, but they could have added more of the potatoes or vegetables so that you are getting more of a meal. I had the yellow tail, with bok choy and there was barely any bok choy on the plate but the yellow tail was delicious. My wife had the same experience with the scallops. So you are going to pay a lot and probably leave hungry. For two adults and two kids, with wine and tip, we paid just over $200, combined with the slow service and incredibly noisy atmosphere (tile walls probably not the best choice), I don't think it was good value. Very good food though.
Food and menu were good.
Waiter was a space case and when we asked another server for help she ignored our request.
When manager asked how are experience was we told him food was really good and was honest about service... his reaction was just as immature as the servers. No apology or acknowledgement of any of the feedback provided; just basically asked us to come back and give PK another try. ( which we probably will because food was good and we truly want good food place to do well in SAn Marcos, but Come on PK... good service ishouldnt be too difficult, especially when there are like 3 people eating in the restaurant!
Great food! Great drinks!
Fun evening with great service... attended for a birthday dinner. Other than a happy birthday from the manager, no special effort was made to celebrate. The food is decent but the wine list needs some variety. Looking forward to them expanding their menu and the wine list.
Cocktails were delicious, everything was well seasoned - scallops and Wagyu beer sliders were standouts. Crab & Avocado Stack was good (crab might be a little too much mayo for some...). GREAT service, fun evening celebrating our anniversary.
I'd recommend the appetizers and desserts over the meals. I felt all was overpriced by 10-15%. That being said hopefully these are just growing pains and they will get it all worked out
We were surprised at the lack of quality in service in our return visit. As always, the food has been excellent. However, as noted on our Open Table reservation (and confirmed by our host/hostess), we designated this as a birthday celebration. We also requested our food to be delivered at once (appetizers, salads, side and main dishes). After 45 minutes post ordering, two side dishes and a child's main dish arrived. At least an hour later, the main dishes arrived. Another hour? The salad and another side dish (this was after two requests for it). There was no mention of a birthday. There were a few cheerful apologies but this did not make up for the lack of order and sense to our meal. Additionally, this was not a busy evening (in contrast to the excellent service and food at our previous visit, a highly busy Friday evening). Clearly, your service is dependent on the person who serves your table. We love the food and plan on returning. However, my dinner mates might not be as patient to accompany me in subsequent visits if this is repeated.
