Prepkitchen - Little Italy Ratings and Reviews
Loved that the restaurant was upstairs, although we sat away from the windows I enjoyed that the view was from a higher level. Came on a Friday night and it wasn't so busy. Food was fantastic! I got the bolognese, and my wife got the burger...we ended up switching meals because we wanted the other person's food instead! Burger was delicious and my wife loved her pasta. Staff was friendly and attentive, ambience was pretty mellow--overall a wonderful dinner. Would definitely recommend and will be back for another occasion.
Excellent experience. We have 2 allergies in the family and we called ahead to understand our options. He had gone through the menu and noted dinners for each of us, as well as talked to the chef. Couldn't have been a better experience. Dinner was fantastic and the ambiance was hip and fun. Highly recommend !
We had a wonderful dinner. Katy was our server and she was outstanding. My cousin and I shared the Bolognese and the mushroom lasagna, both were fabulous. My husband had the piri piri Chicken and he loved it. A little spicy but he loved it. We shared the beet salad and the braised lamb and hummus appetizer and both were outstanding. To finish the evening ,we had the chocolate cake and the carrot cake and again, both were delicious. Our server was very attentive and caring and did a wonderful job. We had a great dinner out. The chef even came out to say hello! Thank you for showing our out-of-town guest a wonderful evening.
The food was really good. We had reservations and were sat right next to the kitchen and bathroom entrance. We asked our waiter to offer 3 suggestions we could just share. The food was great but what was offered included zero veggies and were all very heavy. Not that it was bad at all; just it wasn't thoughtful at all. We were just a table and a tip, or that's how it felt.
I was not impressed with the menu or the food we were served. We ordered the cheese & meat plate for a small group and only about half of it was eaten. The platter Looked pretty but Just not that good. And The server did not take the time to explain what each item was. The jalepeno fish appetizer was great. Fresh, spicy & flavorful. I had the halibut for an entree and it was sort of bland. I could not hear Our first server at all and I did not think she was very helpful. We ended up moving tables when the second half of our party arrived with more people than planned. They moved us to the bar seating which was fine but the first server made no attempt at customer service. She was curt and delivered the check in an overly bright iPad with a survey request which was not only annoying but much too early in the evening. She placed the check on the new table abruptly. I didn't think the next server was very good either. She took our order and then delivered the wrong drinks to us. All in all we had a nice time but it was mostly due to the company we were keeping. Not sure if I will go back here for a second chance. Disappointed.
I had been wanting to go to this place for a long time and was really looking forward to this place. Unfortunately, the service was mediocre at best. Our waiter was never around, someone else had to take our order. He asked if we wanted bread after we had finished our appetizer. The food was ok, but I think I was so upset with our waiter that my assessment is not accurate, maybe worth checking out again. The service is something you really need to work on.
Overall excellent experience for a large party of 10. They were friendly and accommodating, particularly trying to split the bill among several people. The environment was enjoyable and the food was excellent. The service lagged at times, especially since they seemed short-handed as they grew busier. Overall, a good experience though.
Sat at the bar. Never really greeted by the bartender. We were the only ones at the bar and he didn't appear to be busy. We felt the chicken sandwich needed a better side than chips. The chips were good but coleslaw would have been better. You can get chips at a sandwich shop. Turkey sandwich was good. The turkey was moist and not dry. No thank you from the bartender when we were leaving but that went along with his warm welcome. No goodbye from the two standing at the hostess stand. Just a blank stare. Makes you wonder if you'll come back. There are a lot of other dining options in this area that probably have friendlier service.
Everything was so pleasant and delicious!!! I had the Chilaquiles w side of Bacon and I couldn't stop eating! We started with the Butterscotch muffin and I would HIGHLY recommend it! Their Pineapple Hard Ale is worth it as well IF you like Pineapple. Really great experience.
This is my 2nd time at Prep Kitchen and it was a special occasion being Valentines day. Our OpenTable reservation was for 6:45. Being that it was V-day I thought it would be better to check in early just to let them know we were there. If there was a wait to be seated, there is a British Public across the street. We were sat immediately which was nice. We were greeted by a very sweet young lady who was super polite and wished us a Happy V-day. We began with some delicious cocktails. I ordered the horse and buggy and my girlfriend ordered a delicious version of a Tom collins. Then we ordered apps, the smoked burrata and mussels with fries - both really good! Then came our main courses, the mushroom lasagna for my GF, that our lovely waitress recommended and I had the Port Braised Beef which was great! Afterwards we received the dessert menu and at the bottom there is an option to purchase the kitchen staff a round of beers. Me & my GF decided to go with that, I'm sure their kitchen staff was going to be busy that night and it was nice to be able to show appreciation to some of the other people involved. To my amazement the chef came out and thanked us for the gesture. Really a great meal and they exceeded my expectations with their great food & service.
Good Food, good service of tasty food in retro ambience! The double pork chop and flat iron steaks are excellently prepared with fresh ingredients. The mussels are nicely flavored but they are a bit small probably because it is out of season. There is an elevator, fit for 2 if you cannot climb the stairs.
I've been to Prep Kitchen several times. I love it because of its fantastic location in Little Italy as well as the modern decor. They offer a great selection of food and drinks. My favorite menu item is the bacon wrapped dates but the burrata appetizer was great as well! I definitely recommend this place whether it's stopping by for a cocktail and appetizer or for a nice dinner!
Great food and great service! I brought my cousins who were visiting from Korea for dinner here. They really enjoyed all of the food- we ordered the steak, burger as well as the pasta and salad. Everything was fresh and delicious and the scene was great as well as the service. It's a great place for foodies as well as for drinks and a hip place to boost. See you soon!
We have eaten here before and loved it but wasn't as excited this last time. Food, although it sounded creative, didn't really have the right flavor combinations or seasoning. Feels like it has become very corporate with exact wine pours, etc.. We were really disappointed as we really have enjoyed this restaurant before. Hoping it was just an off day!
THIS WAS NOT OUR FIST TIME BY FAR, BUT, THEY DIDN'T HAVE SAN DIEGO RESTAURANT WEEK MENU, BECAUSE "THEY WERE NOT PREPARED FOR IT????? COMMON GUYS, BE MORE CREATIVE WITH YOUR EXCUSES.
WE WERE THE FIST ONES AT 5:30 PM ON MONDAY AND THE SERVICE WAS DEPLORABLE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE GUYS.
WILL THINK IT TWICE TO RETURN TO WHAT WAS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PLACES TO DINE.
