Nice view, service was excellent, we loved the Brussels sprouts entre highly recommended
The Prep Kitchen in Little Italy is one of my favorites! The service is outstanding and the food is consistently great. Great bar and happy hour too!
Food was amazing! They were a little understaffed but they probably weren’t expecting a full house on a Wednesday night.
Good place, about my 3rd time there, first since they got sold i think. Food was good, but not as great as previous trips. May have just been the dishes we ordered. Brussell sprouts, lobstor roll and mac and cheese were all new for me. good, just not that special. I tried some different things. Overall a fun night. Still recommend.
Cocktails were well done but pasta was flavorless with a less than ideal texture. Brussels sprout appetizer was excellent with perfectly crisped but not burned outer leaves with smoky bacon and just salty enough cheese.
I have to admit, I was disappointed with this meal. I have eaten at Prepkitchen restaurants previously (Little Italy, Del Mar) and I thought it would be a good place to bring some out of town friends for dinner. They are not particularly adventuresome eaters so I figured the menu would work for them since it's kind a of a solid higher-end American cuisine type.
Well, the menu was straightforward, as expected, but it was short enough to be a haiku. Heavy on tacos, salmon, and french fries. The wine and beer lists were abruptly short. They were out of a wine we ordered. They were out of lobster rolls. They were out of something else someone at our table asked for (can't remember). I'm wondering if they don't bother to restock the pantry for a Monday night.
What we did order was OK, nothing special. I felt that we could have gone to any brewpub to get the same kind of food and would have had a better selection of drinks and a lower bill at the end of the night.
I guess the dining room looks nice and has a reasonably nice view onto the street. I might drop in for a cocktail one evening but I'll be dining elsewhere.
Great experience, but they stopped bottomless mimosas:(
We were expecting a more formal restaurant but it was open to a sport bar right next to the dining. Was a little noisy. Pretty casual place. Liked the food but nothing special.
The Team at prep Kitchen and food was great as always! Todd and team were amazing and make you feel like your at home!
Great place to take a date, meet friends, or go for food!
The place was empty but server's were inattentive and rude. Happy hour is only served at the bar. They close the kitchen between lunch and dinner but stay open for happy hour which can only be served at the bar.
I love the contemporary look of this restaurant. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The lemon chicken with capers was amazing. My husband had the scallops and said they were cooked perfectly, and there was nothing left of the bolognese pasta on my son’s plate. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines and cocktails were reasonable. Another great restaurant in Little Italy.
Food was excellent. Restaurant exceptionally quiet as very few diners this night.
It was my best friend’s birthday. They took care of us so well. I love love love this restaurant. This is my 3rd time going to PrepKitchen of many many more. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing.
Excellent food and service. A must go to restaurant every time I am in San Diego
Food was only, ok.
The restaurant did not have a very good smell... Possibly just poor ventilation?
Very cool decor, on the romantic side ☺️ Service was good, food was pretty good
I ate here with a work colleague about 10 days ago. We've eaten here before on previous trips to San Diego over the past 4 years. This last time we shared a Ceasar salad and then had Bolognese pasta and salmon with orzo. We enjoyed all our dishes and the cocktails. We passed on dessert as nothing jumped out at us as particularly interesting. Nevertheless, I was surprised it wasn't busier based on the meal and cocktails were were served.
Service was great! Many staff members assisted in taking care of us. Friendly staff too.
Management was wonderful and offered us drinks in exchange for moving tables to accommodate a larger party. Food is always amazing - Brussels sprouts and beef pappardelle were our favorites!
Really enjoyed PK. We were there for Happy Hour whick goes from 3 to7 pm. Gives you a great deal on drinks and food so even ordering the regular dinner items it was still very inexpensive. The food was delicious and we got to try lots of different cocktails.
Love the vibe and food here! We did brunch and it was delicious!
Food was very good but the service felt rushed. I don't know why servers feel like they have to remove everything from the table the second you take your last bite.
Prepkitchen is an upstairs restaurant in Little Italy that, when you get to the top of the stairs is a pleasant surprise! It's got kind of cool vibe going on-not hipster but a coolness that lets you know you don't have to be trendy to have a good meal.
We started off with their crispy fries with dipping sauces-ranch, ketchup, and a spicy aioli that you just can't stop dipping. BTW they are skinny fries so they won't fill you up...kinda. Next was the Caesar salad where they finally shred the Parmesan and the croutons are not so crispy that the scrape your palate. It was cool and crisp and very appropriate for typical San Diego weather. Our first entrée was the Papardelle Pasta with braised short rib which was plentiful and the pasta was seasoned well. We couldn't stop eating the pasta it was so good! Finally we had the fish tacos and they were only okay. Maybe it was because they had to live up to everything else but while it was tasty it lacked the seasoning and flavors everything else had.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable and not overbearing. In fact the whole waitstaff was attentive, friendly, despite the growing chaos that was a typical restaurant night. Kudos to Prapkitchen for making a great eating experience while enjoying the ambience of Little Italy!
SO GOOD!! We came in for brunch and had the avo toast, French toast and fish tacos. We all licked our plates clean, especially the French toast. Such good, fresh food in an amazing location. Service was top notch as well. ❤️
The food was outstanding! My kids loved the burgers, my husband the salmon & my chicken with lemon & capers was delicious!
There were four of us and we all liked our meals. The servers were very attentive. I realized after sitting down that there was an air duct that was blowing cold air right on me and I knew I would not be able to enjoy my meal so I asked a waiter to see if he could do something about it. He promptly got on a chair, reached up and repositioned the vents which made my dining experience super pleasurable. I will definitely go back to this restaurant and I recommend it.
Great location, great space. Service was spectacular!! Food was good quality, steak was nothing special. Hamburger was great. Pasta was so-so.
The is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service. Great for any occasion.
Sadly this restuarant has changed for the worse. The venue is still beautiful and in a great location, but the quality of food is unfortunate. We had a work dinner and there were 10 of us. Not one person enjoyed their meal. Both people who ordered the fish tacos said they could tell they weren't eating fresh fish and the fish was cold, scallops overcooked and chewy, roasted salmon was just okay, and the orzo was cold (maybe it's meant to be?). The drinks orders were slow moving mainly because there was only one bartender working to serve the entire restuarant. Not sure what's going on here, but there are far too many better options next door, across the street, and around the corner. I'm guessing that will be the last time any of us eat there again.
Fabulous food. Wonderful service. I will definitely be back.
The food is awesome! I recommend the lemon chicken and the fish & chips. I could not get enough of their tiny fries!
Megan’s service was outstanding!!! Great food and vibe.
Food was solid, drinks were good and our server was great. Very attentive!
Overall the food was very good and the service was too. The charcuterie board had more bread than it did meat and cheeses but what was there was tasty. All of our entrees were very good but the menu could be more exciting.
As usual everything was perfect. We will surely return next time we visit Little Italy.
Blueberry upside down cake was different and delicious. Would definitely order again. Mac and Cheese was good, but not great. Didn't care for the Beverly Hills salad...the quinoa tasted like refrigerator, but the rest of the salad was nice. Brussels sprouts were great. Service was good. Also, cool views of Little Italy. Seating not real comfy.
We were very happy with everything from the libations to our meal. I recommend the corpse revived highly.
Great food and service. I will be back next time, I am in San Diego.
