Prepkitchen - Del Mar Ratings and Reviews
This is a great restaurant and we eat here frequently living walking distance. We were a little disappointed on Sunday night as we made reservations looking forward to their great steak. They were all out of steaks!! Our waiter was a little snooty which has never been the case before. I'm sure we will be back but hope it is up to the previous excellence
Food and drink was really good. I had the beef ravioli and my wife had a shrimp salad. Don't sit outside though. Lots of traffic noise and they allow non service animals. Guy next to us gave his dog a bowl of some just add water dog food that looked like chunky black sludge. Made my pregnant wife nauseated. Also, the white napkins had an insane amount of white lint flying off them that got all over everything, so don't wear a dark shirt or dress if you go here. It was okay but I wouldn't go here again.
Neh, not much food on the plates for the price. Very loud, even outside. Amount of wine in the glass was puny. Food was good. My friend with food allergies got the wrong plate of food that had to be sent back. Not a place for an intimate quiet dinner. Could not have a conversation because of load, drunken tables around us. And it was a Thursday night. I might recommend to kids who need the volume up, the drinks thin and don't mind being ripped off.
We enjoyed a lovely dinner started with chicken liver pate.
It was served with a delicious toast, fresh apricot and cherry or honeycomb spread. Next, a wonderful Caesar salad that actually tastes like it should.
Our entrees were delicious as well.
But here's the best part. Our server, Dana. She was proud of the food. Enthusiastic about where it came from and how much of it was house made.
She admired the folks with whom she works who make it all
happen. None of this was over the top. It was honest conversation. If I could, I would create a job for her. She's a great employee.
Happy Fathers Day! The family took me there for brunch. Not our first time there, so we picked it based on several good experiences before. Again, they live up to high standards. While the place has such a casual CA kind of feel, the service is spot on, the food is very good, and the watermelon mimosas were to die for. Everyone we encountered was friendly and anxious to do whatever we needed to have a perfect meal. We had two small kids with us, both with nut allergies and our waitstaff were prepared, professional, and handled the situation well and gave us total confidence. Well done!
