The pasta dish that my birthday guest had was just a pile of boring beige pasta stuff and it was embarrassing to have the salmon which was very attractive and formal. At least make it look like something special if you must serve such a dish.

We celebrated being with dear 'foodie' friends that were here visiting from Arizona. We all loved the ambiance, the service (thank you, Tamara!), and the amazing food! We enjoyed the focaccia, carpacchio, and burrata for starters. The beet salad and French onion soup came next (sorry, forgot to take photos). Then we had the ribeye, porkchop, and short rib...oh, and a side of the gnocchi. We absolutely loved it and will be back!

We ate a delicious lunch at Prelude before the Broadway Show next door. I would highly recommend the tasty meat sandwich with green peppers and onions. The sauce was unusual and highlighted the soft, cooked beef very well. The dessert was a most unusual mousse. The bottom layer was chocolate cake, next chocolate mousse, and topped with raspberry mousse. I have never experience such a delectable dessert.

Food and service were excellent. Could add more variety to the menu. The night we ate there, many dishes featured included blue cheese and duck as ingredients. Substituting was not allowed. My guess is this a cost savings benefit and a benefit to not wasting food which is reasonable, Perhaps allowing for some flexibility by the chef would be nice. Will definitely return.

I ate here for my birthday and the staff were super kind, and friendly, and attentive. For my birthday, they gave me a free gelato and some cookies. Some of it seemed a bit expensive for me but what I got was really delicious. They have outdoor heaters that kept us super comfortable during the night. Because it was downtown, there the occasional loud car but other than that we had a lovely time. Overall, I would love come here again!

All of the food was really delicious, and those of us that had dessert. Also enjoyed what we had ordered. The young woman who waited on us was just the right amount of attentive, she gave us the time we needed to decide what we wanted, and, the timing on the service was perfect.

My sister in law and I went for a joint birthday dinner. They had a cute birthday sign at our table and offered us dessert gratis. The food and drinks were incredible, our server was fun, knowledgeable and kind. absolutely will be back.

For the price, I was expecting way more. The Carbonara was, simply put, not a Carbonara. The Ribeye was overcooked. The sides were too salty. The potato was great! Our waitress was fantastic! 10 out 10 for her

I came here to celebrate my birthday with my friends from the Bay Area. I'll start with the obvious - the outdoor view of the Capitol for great food is high in Sacramento and my experience at Prelude did not disappoint. Anyone in our group of 6 would highly recommend the buratta and focaccia. The ambiance was perfectly elevated, clean and decadent. We had a very relaxed group and everyone we encountered was lovely to us from the host at the entrance to our awesome waiter, Jacob (who was very knowledgeable and especially wonderful to us!). We felt welcomed from beginning to end. Jacob came by repeatedly to interact with us and recommended few DELICIOUS entrees including the chef special. My favorite was the roasted duck which was cook in perfection. Risotto and Brussel Sprouts were to die for! Big compliment to the chef. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a special dining experience with an awesome view of the Capitol.
