We ordered the short rib pasta and it was absolutely fabulous! We will be back for that one for sure!
There were so many small, yet not so small, details that made this dining experience a disappointment. We had our first date at the previous Prego location more than 25 years ago. So, that's an impressive run for a restaurant. Prego was a regular go-to for us. One of the first disappointments at the new location was the low-quality flatware presented. Press cut stuff... and the soup spoon wasn't even a soup spoon! Server took away so many items without even asking and before we we done with them. We had to ask for everything, as it was. Disappointed to see such a change in the menu. Server gave us an explanation of how pasta would be slowly added back in. Silly. My husband said his pasta mare dish was good, but my orders were sub par, the bread was stale/hard. We won't be back.
Great food and great staff. Loved the atmosphere!
We visited for Valentines and apparently they recently split a part of their dining room with a big wall that resembled the inside of a walk in freezer. The entire wall had white vinyl siding and stainless steel trim. ( the other dining room looked quite nice ) But Staring at that wall all night made me feel as if we were stuck in a storeroom. We ordered the fish and the lamb chops. The quality of the meat and fish was quite nice ond the flavor was good, however the risotto on the plate was crunchy and undercooked and the vegetables tasted like they had been sitting around on a $2.99 vegas buffet for 4 hours. The menu was limited due to the holiday, but the staff could still not keep up. It took 22 minutes to get our first glasses of water and 46 minutes to get our drinks from the time we ordered. the bread showed up within 1 minute of sitting down. We ordered the lemon tart and the flourless chocolate cake, after one bite of each and left the rest of that store bought mess on the table.
Great experience and great food.
Loved the new Prego's. Parking is easy, food delicious and service excellent.
The lamb chops as always were tasty, however 2 of the 4 chops per dish were significantly smaller than on previous occasions.
Unfortunately, the 2 Prime New York Strip Medallions dishes were not prime nor medallion size. The were mushy and gritty and more like over-sized hamburgers.
Our waitress (Edna) was very attentive and helpful and friendly. In fact she got the manager to mitigate the issue with the medallion dishes to our satisfaction.
Prego has been a long time favorite so will will give it another try.
Fabulous as always. Ugo and the staff are wonderfully attentive !
Excellent restaurant... we'll be back! Great service food and ambiance.
The service wasn’t great. Considering it wasn’t too busy but food was good. I know this is a relatively new location for them too. I will go back but not in any rush to go either.
Happy hour was fabulous! Ordered meatballs in vodka sauce, caprese, House Cabernet (14 Hands) and Elena Marie salad - all were delicious! Our server was amazing - friendly and attentive . Will definitely eat at Prego again!
As I know that this is a new restaurant in this location, start up issues do come into play. Service person was excellent---friendly, attentive. Food was a bit disappointing as we all had salads and for two of us, it appears that the portions were a bit skimpy. The lettuce was not as vibrant as I would anticipate. The kale salad had very little kale as another example. But I did I
did like the service, location, as well as general ambience. I will put this as a start up issue.
I loved the old Prego and found this one and it is still close. Menu has changed some but you can request anything from the previous location which We did not know. My food was good but maybe a little off from my previous experience from the old location. I do feel it is a decent place to dine.
Chef Ugo came out and greeted us too
The service was not very good. The helper asked repeatedly if we wanted bread, even though he had already brought. Salads about 20 minutes after we ordered and then my major peeve occurred when our dinners arrived half way though our salads. We watched both runners walk around past our table with our food before bringing to our table. My dinner was not very good and of course the baked pasta was cool by the time my wife finished her salad. Sorry Prego- no reason to come back.
We were less than impressed. The food seemed to take a long time and the staff all seemed to be congregated near the kitchen socializing. Some BIG group was booked the night we were there and they had a mariachi band. Totally ruined our night. They were LOUD and we had ZERO desire to listen to mexican music when dining at what we thought was an Italian/Mediterranean restaurant. We will not be coming back! Food was average. We miss Blue Water Grill...meanwhile there are plenty of other restaurants which have a way better dining experience. This place seems like they should only cater to large groups and corporate events and not mix small families dining and trying to enjoy a meal.
drink order was not put in...food came late. the whole evening was a bust.
it will be a l-o-n-g time if ever if our group comes back.
I am not a fan. They changed locations and not the same. Empty restaurant ..don’t know if they will make ...
Preto's is BACK!! We're longtime customers at the previous location and are very happy to find them again - excellent food, delicious drink, professional wait staff - everything a restaurant should be. They even made an off menu old restaurant recipe for me - fussili with sausage and mushroom. Yummy. Preto's is back...and we'll be back, too!!
Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Prego this weekend. Great food, atmosphere and service. My husband even peeked in the bar for game scores. Everyone was happy!
A little pricey for lunch. They had specials but we weren't told about them. We heard the waiter mention them to another table after we had ordered. Calamari was good but the sauces it was served with were bland. Caesar salad was also bland. Short rib pasta was good but needed some spice to add some flavor. Chicken sandwich was good and so were the fries. Didn't see lasagna on the menu and didn't think to ask if they ever had it. The place might be worth another visit after they've been open a few months.
The renowned Prego is now at the District open all day! We went there for a group lunch, moved to the bar area at 2 pm for happy hour and ended up spending the whole afternoon there! Such great and fun experience as it has always been in Irvine I'll keep coming back :)
I was very excited to visit the new location since I loved the old Prego, but was hugely disappointed! I'm not sure if it was because we went on Christmas Eve or not! I was hoping they would have remodeled the former location of Blue Water Grill, but they didn't. It just didn't have the same vibe as the old Prego. I feel like they cheaped out on the remodel!
I asked about the wine list and they didn't have one yet! They had a few wines in a wine refrigerator at the front of the restaurant, but they weren't listed anywhere! They had been open for about 6 weeks, so who doesn't have a wine list knowing when you are going to be open?!
The food was terrible!!!! I ordered Halibut, which was the most expensive dish! It finally came an hour after we sat down. Even with a sauce all over the bottom of the plate, the fish was sooooo dry I couldn't eat it! I had to send it back! (I almost NEVER send food back!) When I received the next dish, it wasn't much better. The presentation was stacked, which looked nice. So I removed the julienned veggies on top with my fork and finger. They were cold!...out of the refrigerator cold! I couldn't believe it! I ate what I could because I was so hungry at this point! The only good thing was that the manager took it off our bill! (This is another thing I hardly do, but I just couldn't see paying top dollar for something that was barely edible.)
Unfortunately, this experience really doesn't make me want to visit the restaurant again. This is too bad as the old Prego was much nicer!!! Hopefully for them, they will get it together!
Service was great but food was ok. Special pasta was bad. Short rib pasta was good. Wine selection was good.
Great food! Live the new location!
Weak Mediterranean menu, servers inattentive, food below average
We were patrons of Prego when it was in Irvine. Service and drinks just wonderful! Food was prepared perfectly. We had the lobster ravioli, the short rib pasta and the carpaccio. We also had the wedge salad and the burrata. Burrata was better than Mozza! The zucchini soup was yucky! But otherwise great times had by all and we will be back soon.
We were so happy to see Prego reopen. We love its feeing and appreciate that it is not a large chain restaurant. Congratulations and Grazie!
We enjoyed the restaurant until a loud party came in, although we'd been told that there were no parties happening near our seating area. The service was slow, too - once we ordered our food, it took some time for the meals to arrive, and I had to request refills on iced tea.
Wanted to try Prego's new digs at The District. Chef Victor was there putting out the same great quality this restaurant has been known for under the direction of Chef Ugo. It has a younger, fresher look with a more relaxed atmosphere.
We often went to Prego when it was in Irvine. This was our first visit to their new location. My favorite dish was not on the menu, but they fixed it for me anyway. I wish them nothing but great success at their District locationj.
