American
Rustic American restaurant in a historic church located in downtown Bentonville, focusing on local and sustainable cuisine. In 1849, John Ruskin wrote The Seven Lamps of Architecture which spread Gothic Revivalism across the western world. In 1904, that same style is used for the First Christian Church in downtown Bentonville. In 2015, Chef Matthew Cooper, son of a Methodist preacher, becomes the executive chef of this restaurant. In 2017, We proudly connect these moments to open The Preacher’s Son.

Preacher's Son is located in a former church & the ambiance was bright & cheery. We were visiting our son & this place exudes a very comfortable atmosphere. Food was well-presented & our attentive server was constantly checking up on us. We look forward to visiting Preacher's Son when we are in the area, again.

The food was phenomenal. Our waiter Ryan took forever to come over and by the time he did, we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Then he didn’t check on us again until we asked for the check. We would’ve bought more drinks - all four of our wine glasses were empty - if he had bothered to ask.

Glad we had a reservation because I would have been extremely upset to have missed this meal. The food was outstanding and you can tell a lot of thought and effort went into putting this food out.Great local beer choices and a really good wine list.

Halibut was very pricey, and didn’t have much taste. Wife had the gnocchi, which she thought was good. Drinks are also overpriced, but the atmosphere is the redeeming quality. The lighting in the main restaurant as the sun sets is very nice, and ending the night on the roof bar is ideal. Waiter didn’t come around much, but the bartenders knew their stuff.

The most fresh, most flavorful, in season meal you can get in town. The atmosphere can't be beat, their drink/wine menu is fantastic. The service is always wonderful. Best romantic or celebration dinner!

Food was very good however one too many ingredients in each dish. Very noisy room even though it had sound deadening panels. We will go back and we will recommend it to friends because it was over all 4 out of 5 stars.

Fish was way over cooked and after being at the table for 2 hours as paying customers who just a new bottle of wine our server told us we had to leave in the next 5 minutes because they had a reservation for our table which we had also reserved. He proceeded to tell us to take the wine to the bar and we could finish it there. Overall not a fan of rushing paying customers out of a restaurant and it was handled in a poor way.

This restaurant came highly recommended. The facility was very nice and the cloak room bar downstairs was cool. The service was very good - very nice hosts and waitpersons. The food, however, was terrible. I I think maybe it had something to do with our late (9:30 p.m.) reservation, even though it was a Saturday night. The scallops were very dry and seemed to be loaded with gravel, like I was eating a raw oyster when the little bits from the shell get mixed in. My date had the halibut and it was fair at best, with little flavor. At $35 per plate, expectations were not met - not even close. Too bad.

Too expensive. We had an appetizer, two of the most expensive dinners, one glass of wine and one cocktail. The cocktail ($9.00) was small and sweeter than was described so I asked for another shot of bourbon to make it a double. They charged $11.00 for the shot of bourbon!!
Was nice to try the place but don’t need to go back. After what we spent overall, that $11.00 felt like a gouge.

I chose to take my girlfriend to Preacher's Son for her birthday dinner and we were both blown away. It definitely got me a whole lot of brownie points. This will likely be our go-to "special occasion" restaurant. Only criticism I have - maybe make the menu items a bit more descriptive. Accidentally ordered the wrong appetizer. Had one in mind (the burratta I think), we were blown away by the beets, though!

The food options were interesting and fresh and presentation was great. The specialty cocktails were well-crafted. The wait staff was knowledgeable about the food, options and about wine pairing. Prices were about what we expected.

The value is what was lacking. For all the trappings, none of it was singular, memorable. It was just okay. Well done but just okay. For the price paid, I expected more.

Set in an appointment old church, the restaurant has an open airy feel. Painted glass with beautiful scenes has replaced the stained glass
There is a rooftop bar and basement “speakeasy “
The food was excellent with great presentation and garnishes

We always enjoy Preacher's Son. The menu is a creative fusion from as many locally sourced ingredients as possible and there are excellent options for vegetarians and vegans. I gave it only 4 stars as they are very heavy handed with the salt shaker which has been "standard" since our first visit shortly after they opened. I failed to ask the server to request minimum finishing salt and here I am 48 hours later with my ankles still slightly puffed. All that said I will definitely go back as it's a foodie's venue that could be anywhere and definitely a surprise in NW Arkansas. I will simply remind myself to mention the salt issue.

Thoroughly impressed with Preacher's Son, yet again. As they continue to evolve and expand their menu, they are doing a fantastic job at bringing wonderful options that make me want to return again and again. In this particular experience, Aaron (server) was very helpful and considerate as we sought to adjust dishes based upon dietary restrictions or preferences.

Beautifully designed restaurant in the former church. All hard surfaces and a angled ceiling structure makes for background noise which limits quiet conversation. Menu limited in size and focused on fresh, organic, sustainable, healthy, gluten- free etc etc. sounds great, except that for the dishes we chose there was a lack of culinary creativity and flavor. Bland and unimaginative must be added to the descriptions based on this one visit. Place was full on a Monday, so they must be doing something right. Regarding value. $35 for a portion of fresh halibut sitting on mashed cauliflower with no obvious effort at seasoning and not at all moist does not qualify. Sorry, this meal was disappointing and unworthy of the great location which has been created.

My one negative that threatened to ruin my night is that we were seated to where all I could see of this beautiful restaurant was wait staff going in and out of the kitchen. We were literally interacting with the people filling water pitchers and bringing trays out of the kitchen. The management should get rid of that insult of a table. Luckily, our very attentive waitress suggested that we turn the table horizontally and both sit together looking out at the room. She was very helpful in suggesting things to try, and all of the food we had -- beets, cauliflower, blueberry salad, smoked chicken -- was delicious. Wish I had the waitress's name because she went above and beyond. She is young with dark auburn hair. We ended up really enjoying our dinner. But, really, get rid of that table.

We had heard about Preacher's Son and it sounded so interesting we had to try it, even though it was an hour drive from Eureka Springs where we were staying. To say the building is beautiful is an understatement - I love how the kept the look and character of the church but made it modern. The food was excellent! The chef has a great talent for taking American classics and giving them a unique spin. We loved the burrata and eggplant hush puppies for appetizer, and everyone also raved about their entrees. We tried the pasta with lamb shank, paella and halibut from their menu. Very highly recommend if you are in Bentonville area.
