Service, food, and drinks are always amazing.
Prather's epitomizes the trendy restaurant that exist to take advantage of the foodie craise. Their menu is a shortlist of overpriced uninspired new American staples. Our servicer not only got a member of our table's orders wrong but the service, in general, was painfully slow. Despite the restaurant being empty, it took us about two and a half hours to simply have entrees. There are better cheaper options in the same neighborhood.
It was ok, we are going to come back for dinner and update the review then.
Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere, and service! Great ownership group as well. One of the best places in DC.
My wife and I were both disappointed. The food was decent, but nothing amazing. We ordered the summer salad with labne and zatar. It came with barely a smear of labne, and the beets in the salad were beyond salty. The main courses were nothing special either. The service was very slow and inside the noise was way too high. There are way too many good food choices in DC to waste your time and money here.
The whole experience was very awkward. To start, we asked the host if we could change tables- the table he sat us at was directly in the sun. He said they were fully booked and he wouldn't be able to change us. 90% of the tables were open and remained open the entire time we were there.
Our waiter was incredibly obnoxious and over eager. He said awkward statements throughout the dinner and kept cutting off our conversation multiple times throughout the dinner-- more than normal.
The food was okay- the ribs were very dry and came in an awkward three- everything else was okay but the environment and staff turned us off.
Super slow service. Food was ok.
Delicious food, great service, but ridiculous noise level. I found myself yelling across the table at my friend. I'd recommend this place but would always clarify that guests should expect an uncomfortably high level of noise.
This was my first and last time at Prather's. The environment is nice--really posh actually. A very straight-forward menu with a few unique elements. The service we experienced with Reyes was subpar and we felt ignored for most of the dining experience. Had the brussels (fair), mac n' cheese (do not recommend) and we both had burgers (star of the show). The fries were fried fingerling potatoes which we both adored. The cocktails were well-crafted, too! Everyone else in the establishment appeared to be enjoying their meals--they didn't look like us though.
This is a great neighborhood spot. The charcuterie board is excellent.
Really loved the brunch I had here. One of the best I’ve had in awhile. I look forward to returning for other meals.
Would not recommend this place at all. The service wasn’t the best. The only great part of the service was the host. We left the restaurant without eating, after waiting for 20minutes for a waiter to greet us. Mind you, the restaurant was empty. Literally only 4 tables were occupied in a place where more than 15 tables could be filled. There were 3 servers in total, who were all just hanging out by the bar. By the time we left, no one had yet appeared by our table. Entered by 10:45am left by 11:10am.
In comparison, we went to a packed diner after leaving the restaurant and had our coffee about 5mins into the service.
I can’t recommend this place enough!!! First, it’s totally adorable inside (hip, chic, industrial, approachable vibe) and has a lovely landscaped patio out front. Next (not in order of importance but rather how I encountered each though the evening), the craft cocktails are spot on! I tried 4 different ones and they were all excellent, or they’ll make something special to surprise you. And there is happy hour until 7 on Saturday (and weekdays)- awesome!!! All the staff was incredible, including our AMAZING server Valerie. There was a snafu with their computer system and two meals arrived late- they basically made up for it the rest of the evening, to EVERYONE’S satisfaction. And the food, oh the food. REALLY good. Tasty seasonal inspired meals- we tried most things on the menu and I would get them all again- Brussels sprouts (yaaasss), beef tartare (👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼), mac & cheesy (a little salty, but goooddd salty), pork papparadelle (awesome), the hanger steak (you better like spicy for this one, and I do- delicious!), dessert cookie on point and some of the best beignets I’ve ever had. You just absolutely can’t go wrong here. Great for a date night, getting together with friends, happy hour. Enjoy!!
We went for restaurant week on a Saturday for lunch. They were very short staffed so service was slow. The yogurt fruit and granola bowl was good, the kale Caesar salad was extremely fishy (definitely a lot of anchovies paste). Our entrees were good and a decent portion size. They were out of one of the desserts we ordered so our drinks were comped. If they were fully staffed I’m hoping it would’ve been a much smoother experience! But with one server in the dining area and the bartender juggling 3 different responsibilities, the service was super slow. Based on other reviews, it sounds like this wasn’t really a fluke situation. It might be a little while until we return.
I wanted to like this place but was disappointed - the wait staff and team were really struggling to communicate or contain their drama. It create a really distracting backdrop. The music was odd and didn’t have a vibe. The food was highly variable - small and only mediocre heirloom salad, delicious and generous hummus, desserts that were oddly large and looked like leftover birthday cake smushed on a large bowl of ice cream. It made me appreciate how good a good restaurant can be and also how many parts need to come together to have a great experience for customers. I hope they figure out the issues, especially so the wait staff and hosting team jive better.
Great drink/cocktails menu. Friendly service.
Intriguing cafe in Mt Vernon Square neighborhood. Fair food - some very good (hanger steak, brussel sprouts and deserts) some fair (mac very slow and aloof - one of the worst service experiences in a while. Overall, the experience was a disappointment.
Lovely and delicious!
This is a local restaurant to me and I have eaten here 4 times since it opened. I am a huge fan of their brunch menu and their duck confit is, frankly, among the best meals of duck I have ever had--as good as in Paris.
The hamburger is delicious and not like a normal burger; it's square and almost seems steamed--very juicy.
Good fish as well.
Food prices are reasonable however the cocktails are often the same price or just a dollar less than the entrees.
Tables are a bit close together and the music can be loud, but overall I find it to be a nice local place with good food and service.
Fantastic service and cocktails.
The drinks were excellent, along with the service. The food just didn’t do it for us at all.
Only one waitress scheduled.
Food was cold.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Very accommodating for my wife’s food allergies. Will definitely be back.
Nice variety of happy hour drinks and food. Shifted from bar to table for entree and enjoyed the tagliatelle with pork ragu and the salmon dish with side of brussel sprouts.
Great little spot. Nice outdoor patio and cool interior! Bar is pretty decent size too!
Delicious food and affordable wine list! I really appreciated that dishes like the crispy roasted chicken and the risotto are served with a bed of greens to keep heavier dishes feeling fresh and healthy. Decor is very inviting -- the type of atmosphere where you truly want to hang out for a few hours. However, I think the cocktail menu could benefit from whittling down to around 6 cocktails that the bar can do super well. Someone in my party was overwhelmed by the long list of cocktails, picked the Alleycat somewhat randomly, and then it tasted unpleasant, like it was trying too hard to be innovative
Everything was good, except that the steak and eggs should be called Steak and Eggs and Oil. My brunch was swimming in grease. The other thing we ordered was Brioche French toasts, the flavor was good. A bit sweet for me but the issue is that instead of brioche, it’s a sweet piece of bread pudding not brioche.
In general it was good, the ambience, the service, everything else was good.
My blackberry lemon tea was great. However, the food looked better than it tasted. My burger was extremely dry and lacking in flavor. And the crispy fingerlings were heavy with oil and under seasoned. My friend's smoked fish dip left much to be desired in terms of taste as well. She sent it and ordered the salmon dish -- she did seem to like that much better. I won't be returning.
What a great night out! My bf & I recently moved to the neighborhood & had been wanting to try out Prather’s. We were not disappointed at all. We had the Mac/Cheese, Mushroom Risotto, Hanger Steak, and 2 of their specialty cocktails. We’ll be back for sure. Prather’s is our new date night spot!!
Amazing food and service!
After hearing about a pop-up dining experience during mercury’s infamous retrograde, I became reluctant to go. I fantasized that something chaotic would happen, like a waiter slipping and dropping food that lands precisely in my lap lol idk, just one of the many thoughts running through my mind when there’s a retrograde taking place, but after reading that the curated menu would only be available for one night ( and Dream Girls “One night only” began to play in my head) I convinced myself that I had to go!
After arriving a little earlier than expected, the foodie in me decided to order something from the brunch menu in addition to sticking around for the pop-up.
For starters, we had to kick this experience off with mimosas, you can opt for a single glass for $13 orrrr you can order a whole bottle with OJ for $26! Of course we took advantage of the bottle deal, because we’re all about smart spending here at F+M+F! After mimosas, my guest decided to try something new and exciting while I ended up asking for something sweet. It turns out that this specific mix-up was sworn to satisfy both of our needs, wooing consumers with its lingering chocolate aroma.
Next we ordered duck hash, green on green and carbonara.... and let’s just say.... WE WILL BE BACK!!!
The food was to die for!!! The staff, sooo down to earth and so helpful!!!
Food was awesome and innovative. We had a really great fime
Everything but cocktails was too salty.
Cocktails were great, but food was very average. Any burger that costs 17.00 should be really good, and the one that my friend ordered was too dry. They didn't have barbecue sauce or any offering of toppings to make it taste better. I got the mushroom risotto, which was too salty and also very overpriced. The brussel sprouts were delicious, and the fish dip was very good as well. However, you can get much better food for a much better price elsewhere in the neigborhood. I left feeling very disappointed. I would recommend it for happy hour but not much else.
Everyone commented that their food was good overall, but too salty. Server had a bit of an attitude.
The food was good but not fabulous. Ambiance is OK, standard industrial chic, and not too loud (yay!). Dessert (cookie in a mini cast iron skillet) was burned when they first brought it out. They replaced it with one that wasn’t burned, but it was run-of-the-mill at best.
The waiter was aggressive and charged us twice for the bill, even though we tipped 20%
Our deepest apologies for the poor service. It's obviously unacceptable for any of our staff members to act aggressively towards a guest. We are constantly working to improve in all areas of our restaurant so any specific details you are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you are willing to give us another chance, I know we can do better. Thank you. Dean (Managing Partner)
Very good restaurant in Mt. Vernon Triangle. Food was very good, nice cocktail menu and wine list. Service was friendly and efficient. Good place in a fun neighborhood.
Thank you for the kind comments and dining with us, FoxcroftFoodie. We hope to see you again soon!
It was a great place and we enjoyed the breakfast, but it seemed a little over priced.
Fantastic food and service. Truly one of the best dining experiences in DC for some time!
