It was very quiet the night we were there which was nice. Portions were a bit on small side.
We choose this place as we have 2 vegatarians but the lentil burgers were disappointing
Average. Nothing memorable. I usually don’t find WOW properties above average.
It was our first time there and the food was excellent. It's a cute restaurant in the park with a lot of locally sourced foods. I had the veggie burger (in-house made) and a friend had the pork. Both were delicious.
Lunch is a better option than supper. Steak was $34 and came over cooked and we felt the value for the price didn't match.
This was the second time we had been to Prairie Edge and this time it was vastly improved that the first time we went. Our first experience just after they opened was not great but we will always give restaurants we try out a second chance and we are very glad we did.
Mothers Day celebration. Jeremy was great...knowledgeable and excellent sense of humour!
Quality of food was excellent. Service was prompt. Every staff member was very friendly. We would book again as it’s everything you’d want in a dining experience.
One of the most scenic views from a restaurant in Winnipeg on a beautiful park!
We surprised staff by needing an additional placesetting - as we had added another friend to our birthday celebrations. Despite the Restraunt being very busy......we were plesantly accommodated in a timely and friendly fashion. The meals we all vêy good.....service wonderful, and a lovely time was had by all.
We wiĺ definitely return and wish to thank your entire establishment for an amazing afternoon.
PS. Your Caesars are *
My compliments to The bartender!
Sorry, but I would not recommend to anyone. When I phoned the restaurant initially, they never indicated the modified menu and special buffet for mother's day. I was looking forward to certain items on their regular menu and was disappointed. We decided not to go with the buffet because nothing sounded good and the roast beef was bloody. What we did eat was okay and the server was excellent but I wouldn't go again.
It is in an idyllic setting - maybe someone else’s experience would be better. Staff were nice, but made many mistakes that seemed to be due to poor communication. We went up to the Mother’s Day weekend buffet, after being there about half an hour. They cleaned our table, including removing our purses and sweaters. ???!!! Then they took a long time to replace our coffees, etc. Then they forgot about the gluten free dessert my mother inquired about with the buffet. Eventually they brought a frozen dessert nuked to mush. Then they charged it as an extra item, but removed it when we pointed out the mistake. Food was good. Staff had good intentions, but it was an irritating experience.
Had a lovely lunch for Mother's Day, service was excellent, food was very good. Had a table by the window with a nice view of the park. I would definitely return.
First, the website did not indicate a mother's day brunch for Saturday at $30 a person and limited menu. When we were surprised by this, the server rolled her eyes and said they weren't serving regular menu or eggs Benny. Not a good start. The food took forever and the restaurant was empty at 10am. The food also came out cold and my eggs were almost raw. $17 for eggs Benny was way to high for the quality or quantity we got. I can get a way better breakfast for under $13 easily. I guess you pay more for eating in a park setting. Coffee from delycas was great. All in all, not impressed for $100 breakfast of 4. Probably won't go back.
We enjoyed our meal very much. The staff were friendly and very efficient. It was a busy evening but we did not feel rushed at all. The portions were very generous. The presentation was great. Food tasted delicious. They easily accommodated my gluten allergy. We would definitely eat there again and would encourage others to visit the restaurant.
Terrible service . Food average. Nothing special
Cold food. High prices. Certainly not worth it. When I advised them that our food was cold, they did go out of their way to try to appease us.
Very nice setting.. Food was great. I say a four, cause let's face it five is almost perfect and no ones perfect.
We appreciated your service ... especially to my sister in her wheelchair.
She enjoyed the view ...and her rueben!!!
Thank-you for your kindness!
I ordered a frittata. I could see the cheese on it but it was so mild that it was flavourless. I will return at some point but would not order that dish again.
Really great food and excellent service for a fair price. I went there for my birthday with my husband, we were seated at a table by the window with a beautiful view. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu helping us making choices. Will definetly come back and recommend this place. 😊
This was our first visit to this establishment and we as a group were very pleased with the experience. Food was amazing and excellent presentation. We found the service excellent + staff very very accommodating and friendly. It was obvious they enjoyed serving us and working there in general. We will definitely be heading back there in the near future. We celebrated a family birthday and they even offered a complimentary dessert that was enough for sharing. The chef's special for Sunday was absolutely delicious and amazing.
A botched reservation at another restaurant turned out to be the best misfortune for our birthday dinner for 8. We were left scrambling for a restaurant that could accommodate a larger group on short notice, and Prairie’s Edge did just that — all the while being the most gracious of hosts.
Spencer called me minutes after I booked through OpenTable and apologized that while they were able to take us, we may have to wait for a current group to finish up. There was hardly a wait, and you would never have known they’d had possibly only 15 minutes to prepare for us.
Jeremy was our server that night, and I can’t tell you how wonderful he was with us. He was friendly, attentive, and kept us up to date with the progress of our meals. My water glass never had a chance to be empty. He also did the best impromptu photoshoot for us that had the group laughing.
And the menu at Prairie’s Edge? All I can say is that I have never been to a restaurant where I wanted to order everything. I love how it’s inspired by the Prairie’s — so much flavour and beautifully presented.
The birthday girl was so happy with how dinner turned out, and with the exceptional service we received last night, we will be patrons for as long as Prairie’s Edge operates. Thank you to the staff for a very memorable night.
We were so excited to experience something truly Manitoban!!! Our online reservation went thru perfectly. Our server was friendly and the service was really fast. Regarding the ambiance, it was clean other than the bar lights were dusty. There was a birthday party going on beside us which was a bit loud but we didn’t mind that a bit because that means locals frequent this place, so that was exciting. Regarding the food: the pickerel pops were delicious!!! We were overjoyed to see bison on the menu, but found that the burger and stew lacked general seasoning. decor suggestions: this restaurant might be even better using fresh plants as decorations instead of plastic; food suggestions: the parsnip in the stew actually clashes with the tomato base, the flavour of the bison is lost due to the parsnip flavour (don’t know if that is just how it is done traditionally, but maybe it would be better with a cream-base instead? some fresh herbs like chervil or parsley be welcome too. The burger could use local herbs/seasonings in the actual burger mixture and a nice berry relish, homemade mustard, or aioli). Other than that, everything was ok - but with a few tweaks the food could be spectacular! Also, if the outside of the building had a fresh coat of paint and a large inviting sign, it might attract more customers (we stopped in from BC and didn’t see much signage advertising for this place; you wouldn’t even know it was there because as visitors, it was harder to find without using GPS).
Restaurant was not busy, but service was super slow. Ordered Italian pasta which was floating in Olive oil, it was disgusting. My daughter had the brisket which she said was tough and chewy. 2 others had the steak, which seemed to be a better choice. They said it was ok, but underseasoned. Overall, it was an expensive meal for the poor quality the food was. No one in our party of 6 would return.
I thought it was very nice, and the view was terrific.
The one thing I would comment on is the desserts for the brunch. Perhaps the cookies were made in-house, but the slices and danishes were store bought. I feel for a WOW Hospitality establishment, this is not acceptable.
Perhaps puddings, jellos, custards and homemade cookies (although they looked homemade) are a cheap and easy way to feed a lot of people.
Anyway, just my two cents. I will be back. Being a dessert person, I was quite disappointed.
Very attentive service . Meal was great . Had an enjoyable experience.
Came here recently for the first time. We started with the pickerel cheek pops. They were ok, but probably would not order them again. The pickerel came on a stick which surprised us. Usually pickerel cheeks are not so heavily battered like these ones.
We next had the brisket and the Arctic char. The fish was well prepared and had good seasoning to it. The brisket had really good flavour, but it was REALLY tough. After commenting on this, our server quickly offered to comp us a dessert which was very much appreciated. We asked for the bread pudding, which was good. We wished there was a bit more crunch on the bottom and edges, but we still liked it.
We would return but I wouldn’t recommend the brisket.
An enjoyable experience, except it took a while to receive our lunches. However the restaurant was busy.
The food was delicious!
Our waitress was taking quite long to bring/refill water, and tremendously long to bring the bills to the table. The mixed salad seemed to be a little soggy as well. Though the swiss mushroom grilled chicken was delicious! We also had a table by the window so we had a nice view of the pond. I would return to this restaurant and would still recommend it even though our service could and should have been more prompt.
I hadn't been to Prairie's Edge in a while and was very pleased with the food, the service and the lovely location.
I love Prairies Edge, and go there quite often with friends and family especially for lunch. I recommended the Rueben to my friends which I have had a few times, but was very disappointed in it. It tasted like dry roast beef, with not much filling. Not the usual, that I have had before. I must say that the manager and waitress were awesome in this situation.
Went to Prairie's Edge for a Birthday Lunch for my niece, the food was really good and are server was very very good. Our server (wish I could remember her name) even brought a dessert with a candle in it for the Birthday Girl! Will definitely go back.
I have eaten at Prairie’s Edge many times. The staff is very friendly, the food is good and the ambience is excellent.
Beautiful space;excellent service; the food was good - a bit pricey. Not sure I would order my dish again - tempura batter isn't my first choice for a pickerel coating and it was a bit thick. The salad was good because our waiter thoughtfully augmented the plain greens with some additional salad vegetables. The oil and balsamic was presented in a deep bowl - not very practical for scooping up oil AND vinegar - usually a shallow dish is recommended. So - these quibbles are easily remedied. I will try something different from the menu next time.
We had a lovely Sunday brunch at Prairie ‘s Edge. The service, food, table placement and staff were excellent. We will certainly return.
Totally enjoyed the experience only sad the prime rib was gone.
Friendly attentive staff. We loved the entire experience!
Visiting with an out of town relative for lunch. Enjoyed the view. We had a window seat. We ordered the pickerel fish and chips. The meal was made to perfection. Service was prompt and our meal arrived within 15 min. I will definitely be back when the scenery is more green. It’s nice to dine where there are windows and you can enjoy nature
We are frequent diners at the park and our experience this time was not up to standard.
We waited a long time for our server to come to the table and once he did show up, we understood why.
He was just slow. Even tried the explain the menu like we’d never been in a restaurant before.
I also suspect our food was sitting under a heat lamp for longer than appropriate. The fries under the fish were cold and the sauce on the ribs was dry.
Nice setting, great food, nice having an upscale restaurant in the north part of Winnipeg!
