We had a birhday supper at Prairie’s Edge and was pleasantly surprised at how much we loved it. Its a real gem of a place tucked away in Kildonan Park. Lovely atmosphere and great food. Prices were very reasonable.
We were there for a Birthday brunch. Very cozy. Food was pretty good. Entrees with fries need a bit of work with presentation. Will go back and try the dinner menu soon.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, the decor, the service, and the food. An enjoyable breakfast!
We had very good service
The food was delicious and served at the right temperature
We were not rushed and spent a pleasant lunchtime there
Everyone in our party of six enjoyed our dining experience after the theater. The dishes we are all different and each one was presented beautifully. It was nice to see choices for appetizers and main courses that were a little out of the ordinary. I have been to the restaurant several times and have never been disappointed.
Meals were all very good.. However, my meal came.. I went to dig into my warm potato salad and a very long hair came out from the centre along with the potato on my fork!
My friend sitting across from me saw the hair and gasped. My husband thought it may be my own hair.. but my hair wouldn’t have been embedded in the centre of the pile.
I informed the waitress, she apologized and did bring a replacement meal quickly.
Not a PENNY OFF THE BILL OR EVEN AN OFFER OF A DESSERT in an attempt to make amends for serving food with hair it.
I won’t be rushing back.
We enjoyed the tasty food while chatting amongst ourselves, without having to holler at one another while conversing. There were lots of people having lunch, but the noise level was at a minimum. The serving personnel were very helpful, explaining that there were gluten-free options which made my choice so much easier. We could not sit at a table at the window, but still had a great view of the pond and the geese, with the fire place keeping us all cozy. I would certainly recommend eating at Prairie's Edge to my friend
Hidden gem in Kildonan Park! Great service, beautiful views, sat by the fireplace, nice walk after dinner.
Wonderful evenining here. Not rushed out. Time for plenty of conversations between friends!
The food was very good. I enjoy the atmosphere. However, we felt very rushed. From the time we were seated, got a glass of wine and ordered, the food arrived within no more than 5 minutes. From the time we got there to being finished our meals was less than half an hour. Immediately after clearing our dishes the server asked if we wanted our bill. We felt that they wanted out of there as quick as possible.
Thoroughly enjoyable all around! Exceptional service!
First time there. We had a group of friends, 4 couples. We loved the easy parking. Nice setting. No hastle to get to restaurant. Our table was ready when we got there and our jackets were taken at the door. Very nice touch. Our table setting and location was lovely. Atmosphere very relaxing. Our waiter Jeremy was fun. He said he was new. He was friendly, made wine suggestions and was entertaining. The only negative was they ran out of a beverage type someone wanted and three of us ordered the house special of salmon and at 7:30pm they only had one serving left. Other than that everyone liked their meals and we are planning our next visit already.
I enjoyed my dinner very much. The atmosphere and scenery was great. The service was friendly and efficient. Thank you for the generous gift, as we were celebrating a couple of birthdays. I will visit Prairies Edge again.
Good food. Good service. Have been there a few times and am planning on returning again soon.
Had a lovely brunch buffet featuring Thanksgiving foods, all really well prepared and served, with impeccable service in a beautiful setting on a frosty Fall day. Thank you!
Love this hidden gem in the park. Perfect for a romantic, intimate experience. If time permits, enjoy a stroll in the park. The restaurant went above and beyond for our anniversary. We even got a complimentary dessert to enjoy. We will be back.
Went for lunch with my sisters. Food was excellent and we could hear each other talk
I treated two couples and they enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much. We had great service with a very nice waitress. Will most certainly come back!
Sunday breakfast was great - reasonably priced, nice view of the duck pond, great service. Will definitely go again.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and both of our meals (Prime Rib and the Pickerel) were excellent. We will definitely be back. The only small problem was that there was a very large party that came in after us and the server was very busy with them so we had a bit of trouble getting coffee and water, but that was understandable under the circumstances.
We really enjoyed the venue and the food. Service was really good also
The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Our servers were prompt, polite and friendly without being intrusive. Many thanks to Beata for a wonderful evening. Best service ever! We found our new favourite restaurant.
We enjoyed our meal at Prairie’s edge! It’s my birthday and I am glad that my family loved their ordered meal. My niece really like the beef brisket. Our server is very nice and attentive. And I was surprised by the GC they gave me. I was like how they did know its my Birthday and then I remember I indicated it on my reservation lol Overall, the place is great and the food is very satisfying.
Always have a good time with great service. I love that you can make a reservation and request a view of the duck pond. Thank you Prairies Edge, you are my go to for all special occasions, meetups and business dinners
First time at Prairie's Edge, and was not at all disappointed. The breads offered as a starter with oil/vinegar dip were so tasty and fresh, and our pasta entrees were wonderful: we ordered Smoked Wild Boar with a tomato sauce and Smoked Goldeye with a creamy garlic sauce and capers. The portions were just the right size, leaving room for coffee and dessert; my bread pudding was as good as any I've tasted, served with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
Our server was very efficient and pleasant; seeing that we were there to have a meal and a visit, she did not rush us at all, but at the same time was ready when we were to take our orders.
Only a couple of things, that reflect personal choices and might not be negatives to other--or even most--diners. First, yet another Winnipeg restaurant that responds to an order for a glass of Coke with a question: "Pepsi okay"--my friend's answer was "no it isn't"--and having once upon a time won the Pepsi challenge, I knew what she meant.... there is a difference.
Second, ordered lemon and ice for our water, received a dish of lemon wedges, but never saw another ice cube after that even though our water was constantly replenished.
Overall neither of these little glitches made any difference to our dining experience.... good food, good service, and a lovely view of the pond and the park beyond, with ducks and flowers to add to the ambiance. Definitely will be a go-to place in the future.
Enjoy our brunch, food and atmosphere was great. Nice spot in the park, easy to find and lots of parking.
The food and service was great. Went there for an anniversary and they were able to plate & serve the cake that we brought also. Food was a good portion, with different flavors. One thing that got a bit annoying was there were flies that were always hanging around. Understandably we are in a park, but just wished there was a way to keep them away from the restaurant.
Nice spot for breakfast. We were a little surprised by the small portions considering the price, but certainly enjoyed the Edge's version of Eggs Benedict. We will be back to try them out for dinner, not likely during theatre season though.
Food and service were both amazing! We enjoyed our 40th Anniversary evening out with a lovely walk in the park after a great meal.
Our waiter Jeremy even though was new to the restaurant was funny and personalable. The only fine dinning restaurant at the North end of the city . But is worth checking out .
Did not receive appetizers for nearly 40 minutes and main course until 14 min before we needed to leave for the Rainbow stage show. The server gave us 1 piece of cheesecake for our trouble. However it was a very warm evening so we could not leave it in the car or take it with us into the show. She did not seem to understand this and did not offer another compensation for our discomforting dinner service. The kitchen was not able to handle a full house of patrons going to Rainbow stage even after assuring us that a reservation 1hour 45 min before curtain time would be sufficient.
This was our second visit to Prairie's Edge and will probably be our last. Our server and dessert were great, however, that was about it. We had to wait over 45 minutes for our main course and when it arrived, we were quite disappointed. The ribs were over cooked and tasteless and only a few vegetables on the side - not worth the money spent.
Found the restaurant disorganized and the food mediocre.
Soup was not hot And appeared to be. Watered. Down. My salad had way too much dressing
Wonderful place to go for a bite before heading over to Rainbow Stage. I have been twice this year and not at all disappointed with either the food or the service. Do try the hummus and flat bread....very yummy!
Service was great - we had a very attentive server who was knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu and made an effort to find a sub that was "gluten-free friendly". The Seared Arctic Char Salad I ordered was supposed to come with potato latkes (which are made with wheat flour at this restaurant) - and were subbed out for GF toast. Perhaps the latkes make the dish - because I was underwhelmed with the salad as it was served. The seared char was excellent, but it was served on a "bed" of arugula that was literally about 10 leaves. Didn't look like much of a salad . . . . . . I left hungry.
Cup of beef and vegetable soup I also ordered was good, but not great. For this meal at least, I didn't experience the quality I've come to expect from WOW Hospitality owned restaurants.
We had lunch here and enjoyed it very much. We just had salad with a chicken breast on the side as we are trying to eat healthy. It was perfect!
It is very convenient for pre- Rainbow Stage. We enjoyed our meals. I would, however like to see some different menu items. The staff are very friendly and efficient.
Leaning heavily on their location. prices are too high. I’d go for drinks only next time.
We went here for our fifth anniversary. We were not disappointed, the serves was great, the food was quick and delicious.
