Awful service. We went here to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We were seated After over 20 minutes we had yet to see a server. As we left I let the host know why we were leaving. No offer to make things right. They really seemed not to care. We went elsewhere.
Great service staff and food. We also enjoyed the music. We look forward to going back.

We dined on the patio, and enjoyed Mike Butterfield and band. Food was very tasty and service from Samantha and coworkers was friendly and professional. Sadly, our patio experience was marred by an excessively loud and gyrating guest from Placitas. You could even hear her cackling and yelling in the dining areas inside. I am happy to see other people having a good time, but this woman went too far in that her noise and behaviors impinged on others who just weren’t “into” her. Wish management would have intervened with her. We will be back, crossing our fingers that the woman won’t be there at same time. Thanks, compliments to the chef!

We had been to the Prairie Star a number of times on Friday nights for the music, drinks and dancing. The appetizers were usually good but always overpriced. Nevertheless this was OK because of the view of the Sandias which is always spectacular and special.
This time we tried dinner inside. The waitress was pleasant enough but clearly untrained and left a number of dirty dinner plates un bussed out the table all though the meal and during dessert. The ordered antipasto board was quite mediocre. I ordered the lamb ribs which were mostly uncooked. Fortunately I like my meat rare but this was a bit too raw. Interestingly I overheard a gentleman at the next table complaining that his meat was way over cooked? What is going on in the kitchen? This whole experience was disappointing and we will henceforth stick to the patio and the view.

Wonderful location, with beautiful views. Innovative Chef with a rotating seasonal menu. Beautiful flavor balance. Good service, a bit slow but more than made up for it by acknowledging it. I will definitely be back and recommend to my friends and family as a nice escape near the city.

Too many Nat’s flying around. Steak was undercooked. Server did not care about the nat’s.
Thank you for submitting your feedback. We would have gladly replaced your steak if we had known. I have shared your review with management & asked that it be reviewed with staff. I was told the issue occurred because the doors to the patio were opened a lot due to the patio entertainment--it is not a normal problem. We don't think the server meant to seem indifferent, there just wasn't an easy solution with the dining room occupied. I hope you will consider returning!

The grilled Idaho trout from the Wine and Dine menu was wonderful. The meaty trout was beautifully presented crispy side up atop a nicely flavored quinoa pilaf that was more like a quinoa tabouleh. Our server was very knowledgable about the menu, helpful and attentive. The views are gorgeous from the inside looking out beyond the patio to the Santa Ana golf course and mountains beyond.

We have lived in NM for six years now. This was our first visit and it has instantly become our favorite restaurant. Food, service, wait staff, view all outstanding!

Always a delightful place for both food and setting/ambiance. The Wednesday night "Dining for Two" prix fixe is an astoundingly good value include appetizer, phenomenal entree choices, and desert AND a good bottle of wine (selected by staff) from the Prairie Star's wine list.

We had the Wednesday Night special which included the halibut, beef, asparagus soup, caprese salad and parfait. The halibut was the driest fish I have ever had (including from a Long John Silvers that was going out of business) but the flavors of the sauce and other additions were very good - the risotto was sub par; the beef was considerably below par (very, very tough) so my wife literally asked for a doggie bag for her beef entre. the soup and caprese had very good flavor and textures - the highlight of the meal. the dessert wasn't - maybe have been days old. I doubt we will return to the PS restaurant.

The cut of prime rib was full of fat snd difficult to cut. Must have been an end cut. Three of us at the table had prime rib and sll thrss were disappointed.

We had the most incredible dinner Tuesday night at Prairie Star! It was a birthday celebration so we all had a first and main course and then a dessert to share plus the complimentary birthday dessert. We all had different choices so were able to taste from each other. I believe that in all our years (25) of dining out in Albuquerque this was the best meal, start to finish, that we have ever had! Each dish was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented and the servings were very generous. Then as an added bonus, Tuesday is half price on wine! The servers were charming and did an excellent job. There is something for everyone on the menu so don't wait for a special occasion to treat yourself to a delightful evening at Prairie Star!!

This time we went on Wednesday Wine and Dine night. Always a wonderful and relaxing special time, with great service all around! Host/Maitre D' said, "let me see if I still have a table by the window (not a special request we'd made!)" and we were seated wonderfully overlooking the golf course, BEAUTIFUL views. Always quiet and peaceful. All staff worked as a team. Meal was tasty; my husband felt the beef was scarce in his dish. Scallops were perfect. Although there were wine "upgrades" available, we picked the red that was offered as standard choice and it was....substandard; extremely dry and hard to drink. Overall, a delightful special evening as usual!

One of our go-to places. Both of our meals were so-so. Very good sides and dessert, unremarkable entrees. We were there unexpectedly on a special menu offering evening - perhaps if we had ordered from the regular menu ...

Beautiful location, with a great view across the bosque to the Sandias. I took my wife for a Mother’s Day brunch. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and the service was attentive, without being overbearing. We were in a little room with a larger party, who were a bit loud, and made our conversation difficult at times. At least we were spared the cattle car experience of most restaurants on Mother’s Day. I would certainly go again, but might revert to our rule of avoiding the Mother’s Day crush and pick a quieter day.

The wine dinners are reasonable in price. However, the last two times we came to the wine dinners, the food was not as good as it used to be. The salad was tasteless this time and the entree was okay, but not great. The quality of the food at Prairie Star is not as good as it used to be, which is unfortunate. It is one of our favorites because of the location and the ambience.

Food and service were fantastic. My only complaint was that the menu was a bit too exotic for me — just wanted a good steak and it was not on the menu

Concerning the steak, Chef is unveiling his new seasonal menu later this week and I saw that he added a tenderloin and a grilled prime New York Strip, so you should have more choices if you give us another try. Beautiful evening, creative and well prepared food, attentive service, and the chef even came up with a sugar free desert for our birthday celebrant. The predinner drinks were served in a beautiful setting but the drinks themselves were not very good. Could do with a more imaginative mixologist. But on the otherhand it didn't stop us from drinking them. lol

We very much enjoy going to the Wednesday night Wine & Dine at Prairie Star restaurant. We started with cheese & broccolini soup which was very flavourful. We then each had the beef dish with cheese gnocchi and broccolini and a lovely sauce, all very good. The bottle of red wine included in the price was very nice as was the Key Lime Pie for dessert. Service was top notch, we recommend this restaurant!

We’ve been going to Prarie Star for years and this was my first disappointing visit. The quality of the food just wasn’t the same. The calimari was chewy. I had been looking forward to the duck and was very disappointed. The skin wasn’t rendered and the meat was over cooked and dry. The sweet potato soufflé was burnt on top and hard as a rock. My husband’s pheasant was better but also over cooked. For the price I expect perfection. Not rushing back anytime soon.

I'm usually not a big trout person but the trout meal that I had last Wednesday was out of this world! Cooked to perfection on a bed of orzo and veggies. The Merlot was excellent with this dish too. The chocolate orange baklava was yummy and crunchy - wish I had a scoop of vanilla ice cream added as a foil to the crispy baklava. My partners coffee crusted steak was excellent too!

We went for the special Easter brunch. We sat on the terrace, what a beautiful view. Since it was a special menu, there were not dozens of choices, but the dishes presented were all excellent, would appeal to almost anyone. Our service was cordial and prompt, but we were not rushed even though I think we were the last of the reservations. Would recommend highly and we will go for a regular meal for sure.

The food was excellent. I had duck breast that was very tasty. My husband had pheasant that was as delicious. The flourless chocolate torte was superb and very chocolaty. Overall a great meal.

2 things I want to comment on: 1. Things have improved dramatically. We used to partake of the Prairie Star's offerings regularly for years. Then, about 2 years ago, it started to go downhill....and fast; we did a dinner where the scallops were bad (fishy smell) and another wine pairing where the white ice wine and the chocolate dessert were poorly matched as were the beers at another pairing. We stopped coming for about 2 years. Last Wednesday's wine/dine was a great improvement. Keep up the good turn-around. And, 2. I was a charter member of the original Prairie Star Wine Club (still have my card). I used it at least once a month or more, bought a lot of wine with Sam's help (where is he? Bring him back or find a more suitable replacement in terms of personality and knowledge than the fellow you have now). WHEN WILL YOU RESTART YOUR WINE CLUB AND, IF NOT, WHY NOT??? Please have someone answer this.

Please stay tuned as we want to streamline the program. When we lost Samuel to the Pacific Northwest, his new audience truly 'won the lottery'! Not at all as good as I remembered from years ago. Food was underseasoned. Pumpkin tiramisu was a mistake to order, cloyingly sweet and tasted like eggnog. Also portion was too large.

We ordered off the wine and dine menu which is a great value without foregoing quality and taste. What also made the evening enjoyable were our wait staff headed up by Stephanie who could not have been more engaging and attentive. This was truly an enjoyable evening out for the two of us.

I HAD THE TROUT ON A BED OF LENTILS AND SPINACH. TROUT WAS OVERCOOKED AND VERY DRY. LENTILS AND SPINACH TOO HEAVILY SEASONED WITH GARLIC, AND WERE INEDIBLE. BRIE CHEESE APPETIZER WAS TOTALLY BLAND AND TASTELESS. FOOD NOT GOOD WHICH WAS SURPRISING AS I HAVE EATEN HERE BEFORE AND LIKED IT VERY MUCH. MAYBE YOU HAVE A NEW CHEF?

Celebrated 5 year wedding anniversary. Great view of mountains and golf course. Great food but dont go with a big appetite. Plates are small.

Scallop entree was good. Burger was over cooked, small, tough and unsatisfying for the $15 price; and for that matter at any price. Used to very much enjoy the Prairie Star. No more than three or four tables occupied during our entire time at dinner on a Friday evening. Something seems awry at one of our favorite dining venues.

As always, Prairie Star continues to deliver. We enjoyed the Prix Fixe dinner ($65 for two WITH wine). Everything was good, we enjoyed the wine selection, and the bonus was the fried soft-shell crab salad. Took me back to my time in Maryland. Wonderful.

I ordered the salmon (medium) and it was under-cooked, rare in the middle, and cool. The chef cooked another plate. It was hot and cooked well on the outside, but completely rare in the middle. Our guest also ordered the salmon and it was cool, but she decided not to return it to the kitchen.
