Contemporary American
Offering approachable and affordable American fare that invokes curiosity and fun, POYDRAS & PETERS uses fresh and locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the dynamic landscape of New Orleans cuisine. This new restaurant concept pays homage to the cultural diversity and historical significance of the Poydras Market of 1838. The Poydras Market (1832-1938) occupied the land in the center of Poydras Street between South Rampart and Baronne Street, featuring local seafood and produce brought to the area by the New Basin Canal. Poydras & Peters takes inspiration from the melting pot of cultures represented at the Market, and brings beautifully diverse flavors to each dish on the menu. The bar program at the restaurant serves up seasonal craft cocktails and locally inspired small plates, while also offering local craft beers, over 45 whiskeys and a local rum flight.

Not very "NOLAish". I first noticed that it was almost empty but then I understood why. The waitstaff was struggling with the orders and they were simple orders. The wait was long and the dining room was almost empty. I was not impressed with the food. It was plain. I would not recommend it. Thank you.

After having gone to Poydras and Peters five years ago and being pleasantly impressed, I felt really lucky to be able to get a spot there on a busy graduation weekend. However, my excitement quickly faded into remorse after sitting for 45 minutes just to get our Brunch. When we arrived, we were sat down at an absurdly large table, and when we asked to be moved to a booth, we were told that the booths were reserved and wouldn’t seat our party (no one ever sat in the booths, and we most definitely could have fit). There was a pleasant band playing, though, so I was not too perturbed. Then, the food came. The “Bayou Breakfast” came with Spiced Potatoes (these were flavorless and likely frozen) and Pecan-Infused Bacon (not pecan-infused, nor good bacon(they messed up bacon?!)). I ordered the Barbecued Shrimp and Grits, and it consisted of bad shrimp and grits floating in a sea of oil. We had also ordered the Avocado Toast, which came on white bread and practically none of the arugula it had promised. Then, the pièce de résistance: the “Giant” Cinnamon Roll. We had to wait even longer for this because there were some problems in the kitchen of some sort. When it finally arrived, we were shocked that a seemingly-nice restaurant would dare to serve us four mini Slice and Bake rolls after having charged us $10 for a Giant Cinnamon Roll. The only giant thing about the cinnamon rolls was how much of a disappointment they were. I should’ve taken a picture, but if you would like to see what they looked like, type in Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls on Google. I think it was said best when my father said, “Poydras and Peter? More like Poydras and Don’t Eat Here.” Good day.

They changed their menu to what I would call bar food. When we asked the server he said they changed menu two weeks prior to our visit. Very disappointing and in retrospect we should have left

Mother’s Day. Worst experience ever. We had reservations for 12. The brunch jazz band left as we sat. There we’re only two other tables. The service was horrible and the bill was inflated. They did not have three main fresh items in the brunch menu so I had to order fish from the kids menu and substituted the fries. I got the fries anyway and was charged $8 for side salad. The bill was inflated the best way she could inflate it and charged 20 percent gratuity for four adults and 2 children. The service was horrible and the alcoholic drinks didn’t arrive to the table for at-least 20 minutes with no one in the restaurant or bar. They over billed me $1-2 more for almost everything ordered then what the menu read. When I asked for the difference the waitresses and the manager looked at me like I was crazy and one said “ so we owe you $3” and laughed. They are lucky I didn’t ask for more of the mistakes to be corrected and the gratuity to be removed so I could tip what she deserved. I handed the difference to the valet and left knowing I would never return. I was thankful to be with my mother and family so it didn’t ruin our day. The inflation of the bill made them appear dishonest. I see why the Brennan’s left this place. There are way to many restaurants to spend $180 in. Don’t waste your time and money here hence that’s why I’m leaving this review.

Made reservations and walked into an empty restaurant—needless to say, not a good sign. The dinner menu was completely different from the one online. We went ahead and ordered and the food was mostly ok, and admittedly our server was very attentive, but overall a mediocre experience. Seems like there was a recent menu reboot that wasn’t successful, so caution unless that changes.

Having eaten at Cafe' Adelaide for years, this was a bit of a strange experience. We were literally the only table in the entire restaurant at 11:30 on a Friday. Only one other table was seated while we were there.

As for the food, I had the chicken sandwich and the chicken was ever so slightly undercooked (a BIG no-no). But everything else was very good. I had the gumbo and my friend had the roasted cauliflower soup and the special salad, both of which he liked.

The service was just ok.

The service was very slow. We asked for juice when the first waiter provided water. This was not delivered until we asked additional times. The poached eggs on my eggs benedict had solid yolks. Never have I seen poached eggs cooked in such an over cooked manner. We had eaten here before when the restaurant was called Adelaides. Their service was also slow but the original menu was more inviting, more varied than the current menu. After reading about the expertise of the chef, we decided to try it again. What a mistake. We will not be dining here again. There are too many restaurants providing outstanding food to waste our time here.

Didn’t have table ready and only 2 other tables in restaurant and no one waiting to be seated. Hostess had bad attitude. Orders were not correct. No check back on food or drink orders during meal. . No one cared about anything regarding our meal. Embarrassing to us host to friends. Not a 4.5 star restaurant. At best a 2.

One of our dishes was great (scallops), everything else was mediocre. The service was not great either. We had coupons for drinks, but our drinks were charged. The salad I got wasn’t the one I ordered, still ate it, it was ok. I asked the waitress to describe a pasta dish, she described it as a tomato sauce with Parmesan. It was not tomato-based at all, and there was no Parmesan. Clearly she didn’t know so just made it up.

Food portions were small making our selections very overpriced. Our food was was cooked well, but was paired with vegetarian choices we did not like. Our server worked very hard but was too overwhelmed with other customers to take care of us very well. Our water glasses were only refilled as we were ready to leave. I would not eat here again nor recommend this restaurant.

Great place. Very few authentic Mexican cuisine restaurants in New Orleans. Everything was great here except the length of time it took to receive our dinner. The lay was normal than usual. But we weren’t in a rush and the food was great. Cheers to the shrimp tacos and the slow simmered beef tongue tacos.

We had a very disappointing experience here today. We were greeted and shown to our table by friendly and welcoming staff, dining room is very nice, menu and food were good.

However. Our server was just not good. Took a long time to greet us, food arrived very slowly and had been sitting, and water glasses and coffee went unfilled.

The only other table we saw being served by her received very attentive service. They also all ordered alcohol. I hope that because we weren’t in the mood to drink that we didn’t receive bad service as a result. Other tables with different servers also received excellent service and timely food delivery/drink refills.

We had fun, because it’s Christmas and seeing our family is wonderful. We were happy for the last minute reservation availability. But our service was very lacking, never openly rude, but very deliberately neglectful. We were excited to show our parents around one of our favorite cities and this was a lame duck of a start.
