Pourhouse Restaurant is located in a building that is more than 100 years old. It features a 38-ft bar, gold leaf detailing and beautiful dcor throughout. It also offers up some excellent cocktails along with plenty of wines and beer choices.
Pourhouse Restaurant has some great starters including warm olives, bread & butter, albacore tuna Nicoise and rabbit terrine. Some of the main dishes to try include the steak & frites, the beef ravioli and the cauliflower steak. You could also opt for the veggie burger, spaghetti & meatballs or the Pourhouse burger when you come to Pourhouse Restaurant.
Took some out of town guests from California to a favourite vancouver restaurant and it was a big hit.
We ate food we never would have even thought of pairing.....really good and the drinks were fantastic. The server was so friendly, helpful, and sweet and the entire experience was a positive one.
A great selection of delicious foods and drinks- I recommend the Scotch Egg and the burgers.
We had a great time at this venue. The food and drinks were great, but what really made the experience just that much better was the service. Our server did a fantastic job with our group, recommending cocktails, and appies, and really staying on the ball. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Great food, always a couple of veggie options and super fresh. Their cocktails are delicious and bar staff are super helpful.
I found Pourhouse on Yelp. The menu was a little limited at first glance but in my opinion that's becuase rather than do a lot of things well they choose to do a few things amazingly well. Great alcohol selection. Super easy to find and a parkade right next door. The bone marrow was one of the best starters I've ever had.
a friend of mine brought me there and i have made it a point to make eating at the pourhouse a thing to do in vancouver every time
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening here-super cocktails, great wine, and interesting beer selection. The food was really tasty and unique-the Scotch Egg and the Devils on Horseback were neat, and the Creme Brule was large enough to share. Overall a fun evening and one that we will certainly do again when next in Vancouver!
great ambiance. food was really good. over 60 cocktails to choose from and local wines to choose from. our server was really friendly. overall would highly recommend.
I would definitely come back, just for the scotch egg alone. Service was friendly, but longer than anticipated waits between orders. If the servers could check in more frequently, I think I would enjoy the servers more. Otherwise, very knowledgeable and the food was great.
I've been to the Pourhouse a number of times. The food is always great, cocktails are superb, and they have a decent selection of beers. Be sure to have the Scotch eggs and Devils on Horseback as appys.
The food and drinks were great! The servers were knowledgeable and made good recommendations. I had such a fantastic experience that I will have to come try the lunch!!!
The group really enjoyed the casual atmosphere. The food was great. We had several appetizers and everybody was happy with their main course. The service was a bit slow at times but it didn't really matter as that gave us more time to chat and connect. We had a great time.
Loved the food! The marrow was outstanding and our oysters were super fresh! Great service, delicious food and superb cocktails! Will definitely go back to try everything on the menu.
The food was good and well prepared by the menu wasn't as imaginative as I hoped ... considering hope difficult it is to get a reservation. The Bar on the other hand is EXCELLENT! Wide variety, well stocked bar, great execution. Worth the wait to get seats. Yes, I will go back for the BAR!
The food was great, atmosphere and decor fun and charming. The service, not great, we asked for drink recommendations and was bluntly told, we have cocktails, beer and wine, as if we didn't know a restaurant would offer that.
Server wasn't able to recommend anything, maybe he didn't know their own menu.
Also mentioned there was a birthday that was being celebrated, which is why we were there, and he made no remark at all.
When the entre came, he brought the wrong food.
Tired of trying to engage and talk with him, we didn't bother sending the food back, even though it wasn't what we had ordered. At that point we just wanted to minimize interaction with him, didn't want him to spoil the birthday celebrations.
If we didn't get his bad service that night, the overall experience would have been great.
We would go back but would make sure not to have him again. If in the future we get stuck with him again, we would rather leave.
It was a Friday night, so I guess he was tired and couldn't recommend anything and other staff couldn't do anything to move us to a different section.
Thanks for making the bad service one of the most memorable moments for the night.
Wow. It's been a long while since we've been back to Pourhouse; not because it wasn't good the first time, its just that there are so many old and new places to explore that I just haven't found a chance to return. But, boy am I thrilled that I returned for Dine Out 2015!
We all got the Dine Out menu, but the food was so enticing that we could not help ourselves and ordered, dish-after-dish!
Service: Quick, friendly and attentive.
Ambiance: Boisterous! It was a standard Friday-night, after-work crowd looking for a few rounds.
Food: Just order anything on this current menu. You won't be disappointed. (Unless the kitchen staff is having an off day...you will not be disappointed).
We only wish we had bigger bellies.
Bravo Pourhouse! Keep up the great work!
Pourhouse is a great venue for lunch or enjoying that perfect cocktail after the day is over. The burger is worth all the rave reviews and the cauliflower steak is a personal favorite
We ordered of the dine out menu and it was sublime. The best food I have had in a really long time. My wife asked about cocktails and the server responded with asking her some questions about drinks she likes and that sort of thing, then asked if she could choose one for her... and it was wonderful. The wine pairing for both of our meals was perfect and in all it was a fantastic evening. Definitely be going back. The only glitch was a hiccup with the music (wrong playlist or something) but the waitress apologized and soon it was back to suitable selections for the environment.
Though the beer list changes and I miss the meatloaf lunch sandwich, regardless, I and everyone I've brought / introduced to the place for lunch has never left feeling underwhelmed, over charges, or otherwise annoyed as might find among some others of the newer generation of foodie & hipster inclined eateries. Devils on Horseback and Scotch Egg for the win!
Atmosphere and ambience of The Pourhouse is very good. Service was speedy yet unobtrusive. The cauliflower 'steal' delicious. The creme brûlée unbelievably good, but would have wished for it to be warm. Interior design of restaurant is west coast best, huge cedar beams and brickwork.
Miles our server is always fantastic!! He remembers our names, is very efficient and lovely. My only comment is that the fries need to be crispy and not under cooked as they were last time , which makes them soggy. Other than that I love the PourHouse.
The food was great, service was so so. The restaurant was full but it was not too busy for a waiter to not give us attention. It was awkward for waiter to bring us the bottle of Champaign when we were having conversation. Later we order a bottle of red and he came back said they don't have it. I already had to ask him to give us more water by then. I found once other tables were empty I don't see our server around because I want to ask for more water. Then he came to told us his shift is ended if we wanted to order more. We felt it was better to close the tap. He later came back to tell us that he forgot to put our last round of order on our bill. After we separate our bill. He asked us how we wanted to separate our bill by parties then I have to add up my bill with my husband. I guess he maybe just had bad night on a Monday. Overall great place to dine out on Gastown
Not so good, if you like to have a meeting, even a low key one. So , for lunch, please tone down a bit
For socializing it is great
Really like the darker atmosphere and it smells good as soon as we walked in. First impression was very good. As for the food, it was surprisingly yummy except the appetizer we ordered was a bit on the pricey side (bread for $3 & it was tiny & most other restaurants alike offer bread for free?!) but all our entrees tasted good although their burger, despite the patty was fairly thick but small, it does look a bit skimpy (maybe more fries to fill up the tray)?! Overall, i would recommend this place!
We brought two clients for lunch here on Nov 21, 2014 and originally had a reservation through open table for 3. We invited the fourth at the last minute and thought that it shouldn't be a problem as we'd be seated at a four top since there was three of us. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the bar tender with a hearty welcome and thought we were off to a good start. Unfortunately, that couldn't have been more different. Our server was cold, impersonal, and couldn't care less if we were there. He provided us with menus and 4 pieces of paper that he didn't explain (we later found out it was for an express set luncheon option) and walked off. He took his time in returning only to be asked if he could bring a wine list which he seemed perturbed to do. We ordered wine and then waited what seemed like a long time before he returned to take our order. The food that was brought was delicious, our commendations to the team in the kitchen. Throughout the meal, nary a visit from the server and when it came time to clear up, he attempted to take a half finished meal from one of our guests without asking. It left a bad taste in our mouth so we quickly paid up and left. The food was good and the room is great. Unfortunately, the service was totally off. It turned the experience into one that should have been great into one that led me to write this review.
The food is consistently good here, and served promptly at lunch. There is a great lunch special of a sandwich, side and small glass of beer for $14. That's a pretty good deal in downtown. I only rated the service as Good because the waiter was slow to drop off menus, take our order and to process our bill. He was more interested in bussing empty tables. I enjoy the food and ambiance so I will be back.
Went here to celebrate our anniversary, food was great as always. The only issue was that we were seated on a 2 person table that was squeezed between two large groups. I was sitting about 1/2 foot away from the person at the table next to me, there were free tables elsewhere that did not fill.
Nice friendly place for a lunch. Great service, good food. Took a chance based on the reviews and was not disappointing. As Arny once said "I will be back"
Excellent food, even better cocktails! Knowledgeable, attentive staff. Reasonable cost given quality of food and drink, and great ambience. Went there 2 nights ago, and already recommended it to friends.
I never write reviews but my colleague and I enjoyed it so much I had to share.
Absolutely delicious meal!
I can't wait for a date night to take my husband!
Really good service
Really good food and presentation
Best drinks in vancouver
The atmosphere is amazing in this place. Spacious booths, long old world bar, marble floors. Excellent food and service. Great lunch menu. I plan to come here for dinner soon. They take their food seriously. Great craft beer list too.
Great food and superb service…. We had several appies and wine before the Opera..
One of the best places around Gastown and in Vancouver
Nice place in Gastown. We had a reservation for 4 and had 4 additions who they happily accommodated. Restaurant was empty in early evening, but picked up later on. Decent drink menu, though only a single vodka selection. Food was good, burgers not necessarily cooked to order, but server was very efficient about returning food to the kitchen. Fries were excellent.
We loved that the menu catered to all tastes from vegetarian to a steak eater. The food was delicious and the service exceptional
We had the most amazing meal at Pourhouse! The food was outstanding, all 4 of us commented that it was one of the best meals we had had in sometime, and our waitress was amazing! The fact that everything is made from scratch and from product sourced locally is impressive. We will definately be returning!
Looking for great food and amazing cocktails? The Pourhouse in Gastown is the spot. You won't find a run-of the mill menu here so come hungry and ready to try fresh food that will make your tastebuds! There is live music on the weekends so that is something to consider for those looking for a quiet, intimate spot.
Best service I have ever had. Their attention to detail was noticed. Go here.
We had a great dinner. The menu was accessible and strong food dislikes were accommodated. The food was prepared and presented excellently. Good space in a great location.
