About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
Located in the busy seaside town of Bude, Potters is owned and run by Chef Oly Clarke and wife Nikki. At Potters we showcase fresh, seasonal and carefully sourced local produce. Our menu will be changing weekly, if not daily, and our dishes will be simple but delicious. We like to describe it best as as Cornish tapas. Our menu will include an offering of snacks, small plates, larger plates, sides and desserts to enjoy as much or as little as you would like.

We just had a main course, which was lovely. We thought we'd have a pudding and were given menus but waited nearly half an hour before deciding we wouldn't bother to have anything so just asked for the bill (which also took a while to come). It was such a shame as the food was really good.

Couldn’t really fault. Woman at next table kept getting message alerts on her phone and didn’t turn it to mute, which was annoying (due to the small room and acoustics).

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Beautiful food, fab wine, excellent service. Couldn't fault anything. We had the duck spring rolls, pork belly and scotch egg to start (sharing between us) and then the duck leg with chorizo & white bean stew and haddock with curry sauce for main. We had triple cooked chips and buttered greens on the side and everything was cooked to perfection! So glad we finally got round to trying out potters while this menu was still in place!!

We enjoyed a wonderful meal yesterday as a celebration for my mums birthday. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We had a great meal and wonderful wine which added up to a lovely evening

On arrival, the barman was busy running drinks orders up and down the stairs to and from the Restaurant and we struggled to order pre dinner drinks in the cocktail lounge before our meal even though we arrived 30 minutes early. The Restaurant service was OK and birthday card for my daughter was a nice touch. The format for ordering food was confusing - described as tapas but served conventionally as starters and main course with no extra plates for sharing dishes. The food was very rich with strong flavours and not what we expected for fine dining. I am pleased to see that Potters is planning to change its offering as the whole set up didn't work for us. Sorry to appear negative.

After deciding to give Potters another try after being a little disappointed on a previous visit a while ago I am pleased to say things had improved. Staff were brilliant and the food was very good but a little pricey. Personally I would still prefer their original menu and style which was truly 5 star in my opinion but glad the new style has improved and the staff were back at the top of their game. Well done Potters!
