Boeuf a la Bourguignon
Hearty chunks of beef marinated in red wine and spices, braised until tender, served with potatoes gratinee.
Quintessential French bistro steak pressed in cracked peppercorns, seared and served "au Poivre" with a stack of Pommes Frites accompanied by Bearnaise dipping Sauce.
From the Riviera - a variety of fin fish, whole shrimp, mussels, clams, potatoes and onions poached in a fragrant saffron and tomato broth. Served with aioli.
We celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary and wanted to go to a romantic French restaurant. Pot au Feu was the perfect place. Such cozy unique place. Of course we had to try the famous Julia Childs " Boeuf bourguignon". Outstanding dish!!
Food and service were excellent! The French onion soup was delicious!
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was perfect.
Incredible. Every dish was outstanding. The duck in particular was superb.
We enjoy pot au feu. Always try to get there when in town.
Very good French bistro comfort food. A warm, familiar place in Providence.
Fantastic restaurant with great food, executed perfectly. Loved the mushroom soup and the crepe de jour. Service was outstanding. We will return.
We always have a wonderful meal here. Service is great, food is great and ambiance is awesome. The 5Gs martini is amazing and the owner always comes over to say hi.
Nice historic ambiance, food was very good and service attentive., We've been there before and will definitely return.
Overall a positive dining experience. Only qualm was the cramped seating we were given.
Providence College Family weekend.
It was a lovey evening.
Thank you for a memorable evening.
First time we have been there. The food was excellent and the portions were pretty generous for an upscale restaurant. Bob Burke was a great host and made his way around to every table. Will definitely come back
For the 1st time in 20 years, I was very disappointed the lack of vegan meals. The pot au feu vegetables were quite watery, and lacked creativity. Server, Antigone, was exceptional. Crem bruelle, at$15 was ok, but overpriced.
I will come back as restaurant is my favorite in all of Providence
It feels that Pot au Feu is struggling a little to get past the Covid issues that many restaurants are having to deal with. They have certainly put in place more than the usual precautions by turning each table into it’s own private dining area with wooden partitions and air purifiers. The food and service, unfortunately, let down the whole dining experience.
They have kept to their original menu, however, the subtlety of tastes that was once a staple descriptor of theirs, appears to have gone. Clumsy and overwhelming use of key flavors appears to be the norm. The Beef Bourguignon was incredibly heavy, and dry, the Coquilles St. Jacques, was one dimensional and a little bland because of that, even the Foie Gras was best described as ‘Meh!’ The desserts, however, were phenomenal – and we tried four different ones
Service was rushed and not up to previous levels of professionalism and there was a definite feeling of trying to turn the tables as quickly as possible. Due to shortages in staffing from Covid, this was not unexpected to be honest.
Will we make the hour-long journey again to dine at Pot au Feu? Yes. But perhaps I might wait 4 or 5 months and see how they have settled down and trust that things have changed and they are back where they used to be.
Delicious spot! Can’t go wrong with a classic French bistro menu. Whenever we go we always feel inspired to go to France. A must try for any Francophile!
It was amazing and special. We highly recommend making this a stop on your bucket list!
Always an amazing meal, top notch service and an overall perfect evening.
I highly recommend Pot Au Feu
I have not been here in 20 years, but returned because I remember how much I liked it when we were there for an anniversary. This was another anniversary for us so I thought it would be romantic - it was.
The food for the most part was good. I had the special steak-mushroom crepes and they were disappointing. The steak was overcooked and big chunks. Overall it was just ok. Everything else tasted great.
The server seemed to have a lot on her plate for the night and forgot a few times. Due to restaurants being short staffed at this time I will overlook this.
All in all the night was a happy one.
Celebrating a new job
Excellent traditional French food!
Bob and his team are fantastic! Bob has done an outstanding job with COVID precautions! Thank you Bob.
Food was very tasty, as always. The veggies were a bit overdone, for my taste…that’s just me, though. I highly recommend Pot au Feu!
The evening started with a delicious set of appetizers which included some pate along with french onion soup. We then both ordered the Boeuf a la Bourguignon and were absolutely delighted as to both the presentation and preparation of the dish. The flavor was superb and truly classic. We capped off the evening with a couple of sweet delights which completed the perfect meal. Outstanding!!
This is by far our favorite restaurant in RI! Love that precautions continue and it’s a place we feel safe and it’s great food!
What a wonderful neighborhood gem. Food and service were outstanding. Just right for a date night- perfectly French ambiance.
Everything was excellent
Incredible!!! We hadn't been in a while and it did not disappoint! Everything was fantastic, the pate, the salad, crepes....just the way it has always been. Atmosphere is perfect, very cozy and inviting....just lovely!! Can't wait to go back.
Second time having dinner at pot au feu… the mushroom soup is spectacular.
Great Food and Wine
Nice place, great atmosphere. Very expensive.
Filet Mignon was very tasty. Wish they had better Bourbon choices.
It was my first visit, and it was exceptionally good. Server was wonderful, and owner was very personable. My only disappointment was that they did not have their featured dish, but it's a reason to return. The food we had was EXCELLENT.
The food and service were excellent. I will definitely recommend the Pot Au Feu.
Hadn't been here since start of COVID and found it to be as delightful as I remembered. Food, ambience, service, COVID precautions all first rate. Menu as varied and quintes-sentially French as always. Very nice wine selection.
Food was meh.....filet was overdone. For the price, we expected a much better meal. Server was great and owner was very personable, but overall was disappointed with the experience.
Everything was prepared beautifully and tasted exquisite. The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing. The only downside was the noise and the temperature. It was very warm and we had a hard time hearing each other at the table. Even so, it would not keep us from returning again. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience
Great as always. No complaints…
Outstanding evening with attentive personal service. Delicious offerings. Wide variety. A must try in Providence.
Amazing experience! A hidden gem.
Stop asking me. I don't care.
Excellent as always. Love what they did with the cute glass door petitions between tables. Made a nice cozy dining area and really cuts down on the noise level. The food is always amazing. Had escargot and the duck.
Great food great service great space will go back will recommend
