Pot au Feu Bistro
Located in the Historic Downtown we are just minutes from all the hotels and convention center.
Forgot we were in Providence, thought we were in France!
A wonderful surprise. Old school but in no way old fashioned. It’s been there for 40 years. Great atmosphere and authentic French cuisine. Will definitely return.
When here for Valentine’s Day !no valet, no where to park , Service is awful, overcrowded, food was awful . Would not recommend to anyone ..
I am finding that the tables are being very packed in and close together. Service was a little slow, not because of poor service but because it seemed to be not enough servers for the amount of tables that were there.
We had a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner. The food is excellent, the service very good. We look forward to dining there again!
It was a very tight style seating, difficult for everyone to move around. Everything seemed to move a bit slower. This wasn’t our first time dining here , and wont be our last time
Very disappointed in the meal for Valentine’s Day.
A great french restaurant in the European style. Quaint dimly lit ambiance with rustic stone walls. The mushroom soup and a traditional french onion were both great. The duck plate with an orange sauce was very tender. Also had the bouliebase a mer with lobster and the broth was complexe and wonderfully smooth. We were in from CT but will be back.
The reservation was for 5pm. When I looked up the location I was worried because the website indicated they did not open until 5:30pm. But when we got there they welcomed us and sat us right away. The food was wonderful and exactly what I expected with the rich sauces and great flavors. The warm bread handed out of the basket was a great touch. The server was wonderful and did not expect us to pronounce the dishes correctly she was even happy to look at the menu when it was a particularly hard to pronounce dish
We love the romantic ambiance. Impeccable service and exceptional food. The owner is charming and friendly. This is a wonderful place to celebrate Valentine’s Day or any special night out.
We had visited Pot au Feu about 10 years ago and really enjoyed it but it is clear that it hasn’t been updated since then. Our waitress was excellent but the food was just okay. Plates and glasses were chipped, overhead light was out and the restaurant was half empty. It is definitely not worth the expense when there are many better restaurants in Providence.
Our favorite place for special occasions. Wonderful food and atmosphere
Loved the food and the atmosphere!! Wonderful experience!
Outstanding provincial french food that is unwavering.
Really wonderful spot to celebrate something special! Great service and food. Tight space and it can get loud, but that’s a small price to pay for delicious food.
The exposed brick and stone walls and floors create an old world and cozy, welcoming feel. The Coquilles St. Jacques et Crevettes Lorraine with it’s creamy horseradish sour cream sauce was melt in your mouth delicious. My husband’s duck with orange raspberry reduction was equally mouthwatering. Highly recommend this charming and delectable restaurant.
Delicious food and wonderful staff a very special place to visit and a truly authentic French experience.
Pot au Feu is our favorite restaurant in Providence. The food is always excellent. Our entrees on this visit were the bouillabaisse and boeuf bourguignon, which were absolutely scrumptious!
It was wonderful, as always. The ambiance, the food and the wine...like being in Paris.
We tried Pot au Feu with friends during restaurant week. All of us were pleased and will return to the restaurant.
seemed to be just 1 waiter on a Tuesday. Went for a birthday dinner with family totaling 4 people, (all adults). Was looking for more attention from wait staff. Food was plentiful and very good. Owner stopped by all the tables to check on things. Little cold inside for my taste . Would recommend.
Went for restaurant week and the menu was amazing, I got the schrod and my husband got the beef for our main course and we absolutely loved both. Service was amazing on both the host and our waiter. The tables are small but somehow everything fits. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Fabulous experience - highly recommend !
Lovely old world restaurant with great food and outstanding caring service
Always delicious and consistent.
It was restaurant week in Providence and we were there for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was full and busy so service was a bit slow—we weren’t offered bread even for quite a long time. The food was very good—two of us had steak frites, another had the crepes specially made to exclude mushrooms, the onion soup and a foil gras, all very good. We also appreciated the many vegan and vegetarian options. All in all, a nice meal and a nice time.
The food is excellent; the vibe is perfect; Bob has an excellent wine list with focus on French wine (of course), at VERY reasonable markup. The Duck and Bouillabaisse are superb. At this visit I had the mushroom soup special, which was just a bit creamy. Leave room for the excellent creme Brûlée. Introduce yourself to Bob, who is a super person.
Service was incredibly slow. We waited over 30 mins for our drink order. Had to finally ask for bread for the table after 40 mins. Cancelled our second drink order after waiting again for another 30 plus mins. Food was very good but portions are incredibly small for the price. Tables are just too close together to enjoy the ambience.
Expensive, but absolutely wonderful!
Very attentive service, exquisite food and pleasant ambiance
My husband and I had another wonderful evening at Pot au Feu! The food is delicious and the service is amazing!
Always a great, delicious experience! One of the best!
Best onion soup I ever had great food my only negative was not having French bread served at the table
I seldom give five stars to anything. That suggests perfection and that's hard to find.
But I think that rating is exactly right for Pot au Feu, which never fails to deliver wonderful food, great service and delightful ambiance. Our dinner for four on Friday was no exception. The onion soup started was full flavored, cheesy and delicious. My wife's cassoulet (I sampled) was outstanding, filled with sausage, duck and great flavor. My boulibase was outstanding, filled with seafood (even a tiny octopus or two). Our friends, each vegetarian, has equally excellent meals. The vegetarian version of cassoulet was specially noteworthy. Add some good bread and some nice wine and it made for a terrific evening.
Wonderful food and atmosphere!
Don’t miss this restaurant! It’s tucked away and full of French Bistro ambience and wonderful cuisine. I highly recommend!
This has been a favorite for about 33 years. Best onion soup and more.
This is the most phenomenal French restaurant I have ever been to. I travel at least once a year from CT to have dinner there. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.
The food was excellent. We ate here before a show at PPAC and it was pretty crowded.
