They were kind enough to seat us a little early. The food was great. Service slightly lacking as the restaurant was full and it seemed maybe they were short on staff. Overall we loved it and can’t wait to go back!
ideal place to dine in the mid Hudson Valley--delectable food, charming service ( students could be a little more attentive to refilling coffee and tea cups, and get the timing a bit smoother, but they'll learn) and fantastic location. Plus can stock up on baked goods at the CIA for the drive home...
We had a pleasant brunch today though that’s mainly do the setting of the CIA, relaxed restaurant, the family we were with and our super friendly and knowledgeable waiter, John.
We however would not go back.
None of our plates of food were hot, they were just luke warm and had no heat coming off of them. And they all were a over cooked and dried out.
Those that got eggs only seemed to have 1 small egg on their plate which is kind of skimpy for brunch isn’t it? Especially a $32 a person brunch.
My husband, for example, had the eggs, salmon, bagel and if he had put them all together it would have been an egg sandwich like you’d get at a deli, except at a deli you’d get 2 eggs, it would be warm and wouldn't have cost $32.
Also the included granola, fruit, pastries for the table weren’t very plentiful. What we were given would have been fine for a table of 2 or maybe 3, not for a table of 6.
It took a long time to receive our food as well. It seemed they’d bring food out for one table, nothing would come out of the kitchen for 10-15 minutes and then they’d bring out the food for another table.
Even taking into account that they were students, and it’s a teaching experience, we will not be back.
Everything but our waitress was 5 stars. She was an over-sharer and not helpful. She was very arrogant about the beers and the way she shared knowledge. She went on and on about her penicillin allergy and was not receptive to our needs. We were not interested in hearing about her father and his favorite cheese. Seriously, she shared too much over a short brunch.
We had a really nice time. Had a bit of a hiccup as the fire alarm went off because of something in the kitchen. Everyone was very nice and escorted us out to the parking lot. After a short time we returned to the dining room. My drink was free. Thank you. Food was great. We would definitely make reservations again and try another restaurant.
Very very overpriced Sunday brunch. Lovely campus and wonderful happy students. No tipping but 20% added to every bill to aid the education program. Isn’t that what tuition is for? The overpriced food could help out too.
Limited brunch menu and small portions.
There was actually a fire in the restaurant during our visit. The students were wonderful during the evacuation and brought us hot coffee. It was handled beautifully and was , of course, unplanned.
Seasonings on some dishes out of balance (e.g. salt, garlic); side dishes warm rather than hot; main course not cooked to requested temperature.
Service very good, caring, attentive.
This was a very disappointing experience. Having been to all the CIA restaurants in Hyde Park, including the brew house multiple times, this was by far the worst.
First, we waited at the unattended reception station for five minutes while waiters went by and said nothing. Finally we walked into the dining room and asked someone to find the host who was chatting with the manager at the bar and was clearly not concerned about actually doing her job that evening.
They were out of a beer. They ran out of another beer. The charcuterie plate was unexplained and had no more than two ounces of meat in total. The cheeseburger had the cheese broiled off of it. The turnip and kale under the salmon was inedible due to the amount of salt in it. Garlic fries were just fries. Pumpkin cinnamon roll with ice cream was hard and dry.
Service throughout the meal was impersonal and inconsistent at best.
I realize they're students. I understand it's a culinary school. I get all of that. My issue is with management/instructors. Anyone working there Saturday night, and anyone will writes the check to make attendance happen, has been ensured that the students learned exactly how to prep and serve in the crappy Chili's in the mall parking lot you refuse to go to.
100% satisfaction with the food and service. My only complaint was that the restaurant was too cold (some patrons wore their coats through dinner) and that detracted from the ambiance. Would gladly return again, though.
We have a wonderful time at this place for our Saturday brunch. Food is good and service is excellent. The environment is great for conversation and friends' gathering. I like the overall composition of the presentation and the steak with great taste. We sure will come back again for Post Road Brew House
Waited too long to even be recognized that we were there. The table next to us was never cleared. Food was just OK. Overall, a disappointing experience.
Horrible food and poor service. I understand these are students but either you should charge a lot less for such awful - everything. Or train the students better before allowing them to actually prepare or serve food to the public.
Well done. Generous portions of well prepared food in a pleasant atmosphere. Somewhat limited brunch menu.
Nice atmosphere and good quality fresh food. Excellent beverage selection. A bit pricey.
We were worried that the place would be packed since we had to make reservations a week in advance, but were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant only about half full at 7:30pm on a Saturday night. Service of course was wonderful and our student waiter was very attentive. I'm not a beer drinker, so I had a cocktail that was specially prepared for the night ("Falling Leaves") - highly recommend! My boyfriend is a beer drinker though, and got a flight with every CIA beer on tap. It says something that he actually liked them all! We took home two 32oz growlers of two of them and definitely will come back to keep trying what they have on tap. Oh - food was great too! We stuck to just appetizers, so can't comment on the menu much, but what we ordered (cheese and charcuterie plate, field greens salad) was on point. Lava cake for dessert was perfect.
Was Very Surprised And Disappointed In The Overall Experience. The Food Was Nothing Special, The Service Needs Improvement, The Portions Were Small, The Desert Over Cooked and Dry, The Staff Was Very Inexperienced And Lacked Common Sense. Will Dine At The Culinary, But Not At The Brew Again.
I’ve been going to the CIA rest’s for many years and have always been thrilled with my meal, the service and the value. The post brew house has nothing very interesting on the menu. Had eggs Benedict. Nothing special. Server did not know what shirted eggs were when asked. They should understand the menu. Price way to high. Not even coffee included??? Should have a mimosa included. Service did not warrant a 20%tip but it was included. Cost us $112 for 2 orders of eggs Benedict, one side of spinach and mimosas. That’s just ridiculous!! Would not go back nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Food was excellent, I would definitely recommend warming the bread before it's brought to table. It looked so inviting and then was cold. Huge turn-off! John, our Server, was excellent, friendly, informed, attentive.
The food was beautiful and delicious. We had the flat-iron steak and the fish special and they were both cooked correctly and tasted wonderful. The presentation was what you would expect from the CIA. The price was on par with other breweries, but the quality was much higher! The servers were respectful, polite, and helpful. We went early and service was great in the beginning, but started to decline a little as it got busier on this Saturday night. We would have liked to have our water glasses filled again, but the servers are students who are learning, so please take that into account.
We wanted to try the CIA restaurants when we were in Hyde Park, NY and this was the only one we could get a reservation. It was good food, excellent service and a fun experience.

A "training restaurant" for the Culinary Institute of America, Post Road is casual, but the menu and food are very good. It's a relaxed setting and we'd go back again.
Our experience was mixed. We enjoyed the great selection of locally brewed beers (flights) and the atmosphere. The dining room was quite pleasant and tables were not crowded. We were somewhat underwhelmed by the food. Several dishes were too salty, particularly the calamari/shrimp as well as the butternut squash soup. The service was good, and we loved seeing the students busily serving individual tables and also the food presentation.
On another note, we incorrectly assumed that this is a "training" restaurant for the students. My husband offered some critiques of the items (at the server's request), but I guess he got a little too detailed. We were informed by her that it is a fully operating restaurant staffed by CIA students. That being the case, it did not meet our expectations for menu items.
Kitchen was very slow. One hour wait between appetizer and entre and restaurant was not full. The wait staff was wonderful. Food was prepared beautifully.
The service was extremely slow. We had to ask waitress to take our drink order and our lunch order. The chef salad was very skimpy mostly greens and very little chicken.
Our waiter was a little off. I l loved it, my girlfriend thought it was very good but was not happy with the service
Our server told us he was tired from the night before service and it showed. We had to ask for butter and jam with the breads, then we had to ask for maple syrup for our waffles. He brought one for me and then my husband had to request some. We had to ask for plates for the brownies as well. He never checked.on us and each time we had to find him.
The instructor spent the entire meal entertaining the table across from us. This table of six must have been very important as he never even approached another table.
A $200 brunch for 4 people is pricey, sadly the poor service left a bad taste in our mouth.
Initial sitting they gave us Champagne...that was fantastic. Appetizers Salad & Crab Cakes were good.
Burgers were burnt/overcooked ordered medium rare. Trio donut dessert was good. Ambiance was nice but working fireplace would have been better. Main course was the disappointment.
Appetizers were great, dinner not so much. Stay away from the burger.
Lived I the area for over 20 years and always wanted to go here. Finally did for my wife's and daughter's birthday. The food was WOW. Portions were perfect. Students were very friendly and nice. Beautiful location. Cannot wait to go again. Interesting fact: a gratuity is added automatically, but is used for scholarship fund.
I’ve eaten at Post Road many times before but this time was very very disappointing. We made a late reservation for 8:30, that was all they had left and we understood it would be a very busy Saturday night so we took it. Upon sitting down we were not greeted at our table for about 10-15 minutes, when we finally were greeted she was empty handed and exclaimed she would be back with water, 10 mins later, she came back empty handed and asked for our drink orders. My guests were big on the craft beer and cider scene so they ordered a cider only to be answered with “it’s been a busy night we are out of ciders”. We understood and instead ordered a flight of beer, only to find out another beer was not on tap because “it was a busy night”. She finally came with water, and we order our meals. While me and my one guest ordered with ease my other guest ordered a cheeseburger, and after a couple of the usual questions “how would you like that cooked? Would you like to add bacon? She was taken aback did a little dance and exclaimed AGAIN that they were out of burgers. He got the salmon. Our food took over an hour to be delivered to us. We were hungry and asked for bread, seeing that others had it, well would you know they were out of bread to “we had a lot of walk ins tonight” we truthfully that’s not my problem. I made a reservation at 8:30. You knew It was going to be a busy night you need to manage the amount of walkins on a busy night in order to give all guests the same experience. The service, ambiance, and noise level left much to be desired however the meal was saved by the execution of our food. It was very delicious and very on point. Very unfortunately though the rest of the atmosphere just killed the meal. Very poor management. If you must eat here, get an earlier reservation or risk having to settle for your second or third choice of food or drinks because management here obviously prefers to put their focus on earlier walkins then slightly later reservations.
High quality pub fare in a pleasant environment. We were unable to get reservations on short notice for the other CIA restaurants, so we had an early Saturday night supper here. The quality and presentation of the food was up to CIA standards, and the desserts in particular, were inspired.
We enjoyed talking with the CI students who were hostess, bartender, servers. They were terrific.
However I would just rate the food as ok/good. My partners steak was done to perfection but the accompanying vegetables were WELL done, as in charred.. My crab cake was good; I enhanced the flavor with a lemon wedge I asked for.
Service was fine.
Post Rd Brewrey/decorations were attractive.
It was a pleasant experience but not a 5 star experience.
Food was excellent; very nice menu; however, taps were broken so only a couple of craft beers were available which was VERY disappointing. I tried a house cocktail instead (the bourbini), and it was delish.
Run by the Culinary Instutute of America and its students, we were very impressed. Food was excellent and service was outstanding. Hope to return sometime.
A little disappointed with visit. This was the CIA, but I did't find anything that made it any different from other similar dining experiences.
It was a brew house, but they were out of the "signature brew". They were ever out of mayonnaise, which I found to be incredible.
All in all, not really worth going out of the way for a dining experience.
This entire experience was horrible. I took a friend who was visiting from NYC. My burger was in a soggy bun, the bacon was beyond burnt, the French fries were cold and mushy.
We waited a long time for our meal even though there were maybe 5 tables at 8:30 on Saturday night.
The worse thing was when I asked for ketchup and was told the restaurant ran out. I asked my waiter, then the hostess, then another waiter. They all told me there was nothing they could do.
I then made a 4th request (2nd to my waiter) asking for him to get ketchup from another restaurant next door. When he returned 10 minutes later with a small amount of ketchup, my meal was cold. Additionally, I got sick when I got home. That has never happened after dining out at a reputable restaurant.
My friend paid for the meal. I think she should get a credit for a future visit. Our visit was expensive and terrible. McDonald's makes a better hamburger. I really have nothing nice to say and am so disappointed. This restaurant was so bad I can't believe it is part of a culinary school.

We were visiting in the area, celebrating a few birthdays. We had a nice meal at the brewhouse. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the grounds of the culinary institute are beautiful. Our waiter was very sweet but forgot our drinks and we had to send a meal back due to being undercooked. When we got it back it had just been thrown back on the plate. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would stop back again if we are ever in the area.
Our expectation was that the food would be high quality, if a bit pricier than the rest of the area, and this was true. We also knew that as part of the Culinary Institute, students were running all parts of the restaurant. Also fine. However, the service was poor -- we were not clear by the end of the evening who are server was, as we must have been attended by more than five people, each one as indifferent as the last. In each case, we had to flag somebody down. Information about the menu was also hard to come by, and the serving staff did not seem to consider such information within their purview. Food tasted good. Disappointing evening.
Our party of six, four adults & two teens, all enjoyed very well prepared brunch dishes, notable for fresh, high quality ingredients. Not inexpensive, but the grounds, food and service were top-notch.
