Great ambiance and delicious, though pricey, dinner. Took longer than it should have to be served once we moved from the bar where we'd had a bottle of wine and an app to the upstairs for dinner. Our unfinished bottle was carried for us, but we had to carry our half-full glasses - a bit precarious. Lovely, warm interior. We would return if in the area again.
Overall experience was disappointing
The pizza from the bar menu was burned and the service was very slow.
Fantastic food and attentive service.
Good food, try the Octopus and get the Arcadia cocktail. Service last time was very slow and odd.
The mezze plate was delicious!
consistently excellent. We always eat here after theater and always enjoy the very friendly and efficient service and the excellent food -- always interesting and very good. Sitting at a table by the fireplace (wasn't on this visit) with a view of copley Square out the window can't be beat.
Thank you Mike for your loyalty and consistent patronage! We hope to see you after the next show if not sooner!
Great food, service was slow.
inattentive and slow service. Beef was undercooked and when sent back, we soon wondered if it would ever return.
Hello Pam, I'm very sorry to hear about your service experience, this is not the effort that we strive to provide our guests. I would like to hear more about your experience. You can reach me via email or by calling the restaurant directly. Again, I'm sorry for your compromised visit with us.
Post 390 is, in a word, decent. The ambiance is comfortable and the space is nicely furnished and well lit. Additionally, the wait staff is very attentive and polite. The restaurant has branded itself as a farm-to-table, high-end cuisine establishment, which it simply is not. We went to Post 390 looking for a relatively quick meal before a show and were surprised to see the elaborate farm-to-table menu. Because we weren't looking to stay for multiple courses, we asked for the downstairs (pub) menu. The food wasn't bad, but it was completely unmemorable. The pasta was overcooked and mushy, the lobster was rubbery, and the burger was just OK. One thing that stood out as delicious was the French Onion Soup. All in all, not a horrible dining experience, but certainly not worth spending over $200
Hello, I am very sorry to hear about your dining experience and a less than satisfying response to our menu. I would like to discuss more with you when it is convenient with you. You can reach me via email or calling the restaurant directly. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.
Too crowded at lunch. Reserved low table but only high top available. Service was frazzled, kitchen was was slow. Too loud. Not relaxing or conducive to conversation.
The service was really poor and three people left the restaurant feeling sick. I think there are better restaurants in Boston to choose from.
Hello, I am very sorry to hear about your experience in regards to our service. I would like to learn more details about your experience so I can understand what happened. You can reach me via email or by calling the restaurant directly. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you, Richard.
I went to brunch with my family yesterday and was truly appalled at the entire experience. The service was slow and inattentive. It took about 25 minutes for my dad to get a coffee despite ordering it as soon as the waitress arrived; it was finally brought over by a manager after we asked if it was still coming. Later, when the food came, I had ordered the poached eggs in tomato sauce. When I received the meal, the eggs were fried/over hard. It looked like my meal had been sitting under a heat lamp while waiting for everyone else's food to finish. Either way, the eggs were absolutely NOT poached. When I complained, the waitress was incredibly rude about it, so I asked for the manager. He promised they'd make me another, but then came back to let me know that the dish would come out exactly the same, so I asked to cancel the order. They took my meal off the bill, but there wasn't any explanation, apology, etc. from the staff. Truly awful experience from start to finish.
We ate in the dining room upstairs (not the downstairs tavern). It was fine. Service was slow, which initially we didn't mind because we had just seen a show and had a lot to talk about. But it got harder and harder to flag down the waitress as the night went on. The entrees were well prepared but not outstanding, although the French onion soup appetizer was delicious. The dessert menu didn't have anything I wanted on it, which is strange because I have a big sweet tooth. My sister ordered the Valhrona hot fudge sundae, and it came with no hot fudge. We eventually found the waitress and she explained that the pastry chef was new. She brought it back about 10 minutes later with a tiny pitcher of fudge on the side, that contained about a 1/2 inch of not-hot fudge (it wouldn't pour).
I don't think I'll be back, although the tavern downstairs seems like it might have more interesting food so it might be worth trying if we're passing by.
Food and wine were terrific. Wait staff was excellent.
Thank you Bonnie, I am happy you enjoyed your visit with us and we hope to see you again soon!
390 Post is a fun restaurant in Back Bay with good food, an inviting ambiance, and pleasant and attentive service. It happens to be directly across the street from The Lyric Stage which makes it a perfect choice for dinner before or after theater.
Thank you for your review, I am very happy that you enjoyed your visit with us. Hopefully, we will see you during the run of the next show at Lyric Stage!
Excellent experience, pre-theater dinner. The table was by a glassed in fireplace which our out of town guest and we appreciated, very much, as the wind made it very cool outside. The charcuterie tray was quite a treat and the entrees were excellent. Carlos was an attentive and accommodating server and Richard, the manager, was overseeing all interactions between customers and servers and made sure that the food was delivered promptly. It's a treat to dine there and one we'd recommend to others.
Food was spectacular! We tried several dishes and they were all beyond delicious. Highly recommend the venison tartar to start and the Chai creme brulee to finish. Overall a wonderful experience...fine dining without pretentiousness.
Wonderful appetizer and entree. The ice cream sundae was less than stellar.
One thing that surprised me was that there was no coat service. It was very clunky to hold onto our coats and the dining room decor suffered from seeing puffer costs and parkas strewn over chairs. A detail worth addressing.
of the two drinks we ordered, one arrived midway through the meal about 40min after all the food and the other drink arrived. i guess its better to order beer and not wine. i must have reminded atleast 4-5 people about the drink, nothing happened before 40 mins. a bit strange i think.

The tavern is a very low key relaxing setting. Meredith and Chris were great !! Will be back !!
Thank you! I am happy to hear you enjoyed your Tavern experience, and especially your time with Chris and Meredith! They are two of our favorites as well. See you soon!!
Loved everything about Post390

Nice restaurant with good food. Wines however are a bit expensive.
Amazing food, hostess was very accommodating!
Thank you Manuel, we're glad you enjoyed the food and our host team! Hopefully we'll see you again soon!

Thank you Joanne, we are glad you enjoyed your visit with us! We hope to see you again soon!
Excellent food and drinks and great service. We were seated by the fireplace for a late dinner and it was the perfect spot for a windy, chilly Saturday night.
Hello Danai, thank you for your feedback, we are happy you enjoyed your visit and our warm and wonderful fireplaces!
Enjoyed sitting next to the fireplace, using both menus--the casual and the fine dining, so that all 4 of us could make selections from a larger choice. Good service, and lovely ambiance.
We are so happy you chose to order off of both our Tavern menu and Dining Room menu. There are so many great choices, it's hard to contain them on one menu! Thank you for visiting, we hope to see you again soon!
The sides were delicious. The food is creative and very well executed. Interesting menu.
I went during Restaurant Week, so the value was fantastic. If you went on a regular day the value would be less amazing. Portions are well sized.
Vegetarian food isn't their strong suit, but I've mostly enjoyed the food when I've been there. Everything's been well cooked, and any dislike was based on my personal taste, rather than the meal itself.
Dessert is amazing! Strong recommendation for the banana cream pie.
Hello, thank you for your feedback, I'm happy you were able to enjoy some items off of our menu, and you'll have to come back for some more banana cream pie!
The food was delicious. The fish very fresh. Our table had a beautiful view of the city. The waiter was attentive without being obtrusive. Also friendly and helpful. A very nice evening with great ambience.
Hello Robin, I'm happy you enjoyed your evening with us and our server provided the proper service that made your night memorable. We hope to see you again soon!
Mike the bartender made our expeirence out of this world
Post 390 never disappoints. Great for business and personal events.
One of our favorite late night dinner establishments.
Post 390 is a very attractive and well located restaurant/bar just off Copley Square. Downstairs is a long bar with bar menu dining. The main dining room is upstairs. Both are comfortable and well maintained. Drinks are well made and there are both meat and fish choices on the menu. We started with Island Creek oysters which were very thin but accompanying sauces were well made. Mains were salmon with potatoes. Both were well cooked but felt a bit heavy with the addition of an unnecessary sauce. Service was friendly, prompt and professional. I cannot say the same for the front of the house who were strangely confused and lacking in a welcoming personality.
Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit with us and our overall atmosphere, food and service. I'm sorry you didn't feel the same with our front of the house staff. I would like to learn more about your visit and more details about what you enjoyed and any items that you feel we could improve upon. I will send you my email, let me know what is a good time for you to discuss. Thank you again and we hope to see you again soon!
Service is so slow that twice we have had to leave for a play without finishing eating although arriving 1.5 hrs before the show which is right across the street. The second time we made it well known about the problem the first time, but it happened again anyway.
Great service, and fantastic food! Definitely want to come here again.
Thank you Hannah! We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit with us, we hope to see you again very soon!
Expensive but worth it, for the setting, ambiance, food, and service. The alcohol is measured by the book so you don't get a generous drink. If you are handicapped and in a wheelchair, the staff readily opens the entrance door for you and a spacious elevator takes you up to the second floor. Inexpensive garage parking is but a block away. We ate there again before a performance at the Lyric Stage, which is right across the street and for which you get a 20% discount on the food. In all, it makes for an elegant, convenient evening.
Thank you for joining us Richard, we are happy that you enjoyed your evening with us. We hope to see you again for dinner before your next visit to Lyric Stage!
