Took my team and a subject matter expert to a “thank you dinner” and everything from the appetizers, to service through dinner was stellar, beautiful to look at, so memorable to eat and served with attentiveness and consideration.
I’m not a dessert person but they turned my head and everyone else’s with creative plates and impeccable flavor profiles. If u have someone who is a dessert person- bring them here... if you want a memorable meal just because it’s a day that ends in Y, come here. If you want to see what great leadership looks like, it is present in the team of people who are great at their jobs, happy to be a work and led by people who support, care and only jump in when need be...
I am so happy the door is revolving, it means I can be stuffed and still get out the front door, feeling spoiled, and not lift a finger.
Service was a bit slow at times. 15 minutes to place a drink order after we had been seated. They didn’t have the bottle of wine we ordered so we had to get one much more expensive, and the pork chop was undercooked to the point it couldn’t be eaten. Aside from that steaks appetizers ambiance were great, I’ve been before and loved it, this just wasn’t their best performance.
Service was very slow. Additionally, they had a difficult time cooking the steak as requested. I will go back.
Incredibly noisy bar even upstairs in "dining room." Long wait to order drinks, another long wait until waitress told us they had to get the ingredients from downstairs. Requested bread, never came. Had to go find waitress to ask again. The food, when it came, was fine. But I will never go back.
Probably one of the most mediocre meals I've ever had in my life. It wasn't bad it just wasn't very good. Probably would have been less noticeable if our server had provided better service which she didn't. Ambiance was fantastic and the wine was superb but everything else fell short.
Service was not great... server seemed like he had too many tables to handle. Took forever to get refills on drinks, and was not really paid attention to. Food was fair.
The food and atmosphere was fantastic. Every dish we got was creative, beautifully presented and delicious. I would love to go back and try some other dishes.
Unfortunately the service was less than expected. We had to ask twice for our drinks (probably waited more than 20 minutes for two glasses of wine) and when it came to pay, our waiter gave us our bill and didn’t come back for another 20 mins to pick it up.
I'm glad to be upstairs as the noise level at ground level wouldn't allow me to communicate with my partner. A very good experience! I'll be back.
Outstanding food, atmosphere and service. Had the scallops, as well as the halibut. Incredible experience!
Hello Bill, thank you for visiting and we're very pleased you enjoyed a couple of our creative seafood entrees. We hope to see you again soon!
The food is always wonderful at Post 390. I love the place.
Hello Grateful, we are so happy you enjoyed your experience with us, we'll see you again soon!
We ate downstairs using the lunch and bar menus. Our service and the food were excellent.
Hello Robert, thank you for visiting, we hope to see you again soon!
We were annoyed that the opentable reward card said $60 but would only run for $50. Will be following up with opentable customer service. Otherwise a great meal. It would not have been too hard for management to knock off 10 more dollars or just something to try to honor the deal. Instead the manager kind of caught me off guard by not offering and it took my brain some time to process I was being jipped.
Hello, I was sorry to read your review. I just finished speaking w/Open Table regarding the reward card snafu. We messed up. I am not sure how, likely we were running the authorization incorrectly - likely for the full amount of the check - and that is why it was declining. I am very sorry for this error on our part. I agree that management should have taken a closer look and fixed the issue. I would be pleased to make it up to you and apologize properly. mseznec@himmelhospitality c o m
Excellent side dishes - - high variety and perfectly done
Post 390 has a lot of positives. We love the location, it's in an historic building with giant windows overlooking the Hancock Tower and a bustling Back Bay street. The alcohol list was amazing. I have been to places that have pages of wines to choose from, but never one that has pages of beer to choose from too! I'm the beer drinker and my wife is a wine drinker so we were both happy. The service was impeccable. The host was friendly, our servers (we had two) were awesome as well. We never needed anything because they were checking on us regularly (on a busy Saturday night no less). The sommelier really knew his wines and gave a great recommendation. I found the food on the high end of price, though not excessive for Boston standards. I got a salad and my wife got pasta and we were both pleased. We enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back, if for no other reason, than to try all their amazing drinks!
Thank you Mikey, we are so happy you and your wife enjoyed your experience with us and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon. Our new fall cocktails will be waiting for you!
The ribs were 3rd rate in every way. Same as Outback. Crab cakes were minute - 3 of them the size of a tater tot. Service was wonderful. Bartender was excellent other than the fact she didn’t warn me about the food. Disappointing especially for the price and the current rating.
We sat at the bar and it was just a fabulous evening all around.
Kelsey, the bartender, was simply amazing.
Hands down one of the nicest and most attentive bartenders in Back Bay.
She made great recommendations for drinks and dinner and she did not disappoint.
This place is for foodies and laid back.
Do yourself a favor and check this place out!
Been one of my favs for years.
We are so happy you enjoyed your visit with us and that Kelsey made your experience very special! She is one of the best at what she does and we are so lucky to have her. We look forward to seeing you again soon, thank you again for your nice comments!
We stopped in for a late brunch at 2p after Downton on Sunday. The kitchen was closing at 2:30, and switching to a lighter bar menu, so we had to hurry to order, which wasnt a problem. After we ordered our wine, and cocktails, we started with oysters, some cinnebuns and a charcuterie board. Well everything came out at once, apps entrees etc. The waitress said it was because the kitchen was closing, but we all ordered sandwiches/burgers, which was on the 2:30-5 menu. This was the start of rushing to get us out. The minute we would put down our fork, another server was over pulling plates, salt and pepppers, water glasses etc. Half the table sat there, with nothing in front of them, half the table tried eating faster so we could just get the hell out of there, and go somewhere where we could relax and spend our money on another drink and dessert. The check was then dropped and picked up very quickly.
While I appreciate trying to turn a table, and the end of the shift, please just tell us next time, and we will go to another spot in town, where we will not be so rushed. As we are all people in the industry, this really left a bad taste in our mouth, and we rarely leave bad reviews. The waitress was nice, but this was unacceptable. Our bill was $300, and could have been much higher for a late lunch.
Food was delicious, atmosphere was cool. Unfortunately the service was lacking, we sat at our table without a waiter for a good amount of time until someone higher up came and asked us for our drink order. Then the waiter finally came and said he was tied up. The rest of the night he was non existent except when he brought our food. Food was phenominal and drinks were very good.
Waited a really long time for the food, and waitress only informed us about a backup in the kitchen when we asked (didn’t check in at all after we ordered). Weren’t offered bread although we saw other tables with it. Weirdest part was me getting a regular menu while my wife hot one menu without prices — she tells me this is a common practice in fancy restaurants, but it’s not something I’ve ever experienced. Either way: seriously? This is 2019; we make financial decisions together, and besides, she makes more than I do!
Service was very bad until we flagged down the manager who took care of us from then out. We did not see our waiter again
I'm very sorry to hear about your service experience with us, that is not the attentiveness we expect from our team. I will send you my contact information, I would like to learn more details from your visit if you have a moment to share. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you. Thank you, Richard.
We both ordered the strip steak with a black raspberry sauce. It was cooked to perfection. It came with asparagus and blue cheese potatoes. The entire meal was over the top delicious! The atmosphere is intimate and relaxing. Our server was always available when we needed something. I would recommend Post 390 without reservation.
Best ravioli ever one of a kind, the BBQ back ribs are also amazing.
We were disappointed with the food and service.
Love this place! Thank you!
Fabulous restaurant. Amazing food and service.
Great food, ambience and location!
We were sat upstairs where it’s a little more quiet.
Our chopped salad was fair. The halibut I ordered was ok, however my wife loved the salmon. Our waiter was aloof, unhelpful and unfriendly. Overall experience was just ok.
Cobb salad used to be a hearty meal and portion. Now it is closer to a side salad despite a price of $19.
Outstanding coffee and pie. Great lunch reasonably priced for area.
Great restaurants are all about the food. And Post 390 did not lack in its greatness of food. Unfortunately, our server for the evening seemed not to care much about our being there. It took about 5 mins for us to even be greeted, and after we ordered our first round of drinks, another 10 for them to get there. Thankfully, we ordered our appetizer (crab cakes - they were amazing!) when we ordered our cocktails, because it came out very soon after our drinks were brought.
The entrees were great portions, the sides an incredible value. My date's second cocktail, ordered when entrees were brought, arrived almost at the end of the meal.
For dessert, the Chai Creme Brulee was an amazing selection. When we ordered it, for some reason our server tried to talk us into a cheesecake, despite having no uncertainty in what we wanted. It seemed strange, and was not appreciated.
That said, I had a great experience. The food was incredible, the ambiance was unbelievable, and it felt like we were dining in private despite the entire place being full.
I look forward to again coming to this restaurant.
Thank you for visiting and I'm happy you had a great experience overall! I apologize that your service was slightly compromised with tardiness, but you and your date were able to enjoy your evening and your meal. We look forward to seeing you again and please let me know the next time you plan on visiting. Thank you, Richard.
We love Post 390, the food, cocktails and service are always top-notch! We go there and then see a show at the Lyric Stage Company right next door. Recommend!
Thank you for joining us! We hope to see you before the next show at the Lyric!
Our dining experience was most enjoyable ! Our waiter Joseph was personable and attentive !
Thank you, I'm so happy you had a memorable experience and Joseph took great care of you! Hope to see you again soon!
Food was not good best part was the microscopic crab cakes
Crabcakes are really great. The salmon, nicely done. If you are seated in the Tavern on a Friday night, be prepared for possible loud talkers from the bar.
We enjoyed a leisurely evening. The staff was great, service was great.
Only negative is minor - too dark for photos
Thank you Maria for visiting, we hope to see you again soon!
Enjoyable, we would definitely go back.
Was in town visiting my son, always like trying new places and we were not disappointed.
Thank you! I'm so glad you dined with us when you were in town and we hope to see you and your son when you return!
I use this restaurant a lot, it's close to my office. Great place to bring new employees or interns. I find it quiet enough to talk and hear. I love the decor and the food is always excellent!
Thank you Stephanie for your loyal patronage! We can't wait to see you again!
Outstanding service. Had some special requests tonight and the staff did a great job to accommodate our needs.
Thank you! We are happy you enjoyed your visit and we could accommodate your requests. We hope to see you again soon!
Great food, lousy Mojitos.
