Food was good, drinks were good, they had a kid's menu but the food could have been more kid-appropriate (don't use spaghetti for the pasta dish- it's too hard for kids - use penne or rotini or ziti, and cut the steak tips into smaller kid-size pieces!)
Service was not great. Waitress was grumpy, never asked us if food was ok, did not offer bread, did not offer drink refills (except the beer, because, $) and we had to chase her down for the check, though we had explained we had theater tickets. I NEVER leave only 15%, but did this night....she deserved even less.
Delightful brunch. Great eggs Benedict and terrific bisquits
Seems like a popular place to go after work on a Thursday night. So there are a lot of large groups. This overwhelmed our server--we ended up having only entrees (no appetizers, no desserts) because service was taking so long. There was no manager present who seemed to care; no-one came to apologize for how long the service was taking. Certainly won't go back.
We had a great meal here. The food and the service were terrific. We were in a bit of a hurry and the server was really good about making sure we got out on time. The only minor complaint we had was that the tables were quite close together so we didn't have much room around us. That made it a little less comfortable getting in and our of our seats. Overall though, we loved it and will be back.
Lively atmosphere. Knowledgeable and friendly service. Scallops with potato “risotto” was outstanding!
While we enjoyed our meal, I don't think it was worth the very high prices. Food was good, but i've had better for less money. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was very good.
Excellent meal, great service
Had a great meal at Post 390 before going to a show.
Also... an excellent drink!
Try the quail. Incredible.
Very congenial and friendly first floor around the fireplace. Accommodating staff, excellent wait staff. Outstanding lunch food, ie Great Big Cheeseburger with Cole Slaw. Easy place to have a conversation although the noise level is high. Had an intimate seating at a semi-circular elevated booth at the end of the section, suitable for a private conversation. It's a favorite of mine for pre-Lyric Stage dining as well. Although, this meal was a special luncheon with a friend.
My sister and I were celebrating Thanksgiving.
Nice plated Thanksgiving dinner was not stellar. The turkey however was moist, tender and tasty. The sides were disappointing.
The food was below average . My pork dish had the texture and flavor poor
Waiter was decent. Hostesses and waiter support support were unfriendly and unhelpful.
We went here for Brunch before attending an event at the Lyric Opera, next door. The menu had many great choices, however we decided to split the cheeseburger (delicious!) and cooked to order! The peach iced tea was a treat, and the waitstaff was excellent, splitting our plates without asking and at no charge. The built in gas fireplace by the bar and high top seats also added a nice touch of elegance.
We normally love this restaurant. But we ordered a glass of wine and the glass came with some sort of dirt caked around the rim.
Then the Waitstaff gave our apps and meal to another table by mistake. So we didn’t have any food for almost an hour.
They comped our meal which was the right response. But really poor experience. Not sure what happened.
It became one of my favourites in Boston!!! I like the food and desserts! It is great for big groups! They have good options of sea food and american food!
It was fine, but we were a little taken aback when my friend’s pork looked a little pink (she asked for well done)and the server brought it back. It just needed a few more minutes. Anyway, there was another server who was delightful and made everything fine. The food was good, but we were visiting from out of town and I don’t think we’ll recommend it.
The meal took longer than anticipated. Busy but should have been more manageable. We’ll go back. Iyobetter than it was that night.
We were visiting for a conference and the hotel recommended this place since it was walking distance. The fireplace was cozy and the bar was packed. All staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. Great selection between drinks and food for a variety of diets. We our party expanded from 6 to 10 and they accommodated us at a busy time without blinking an eye. Our hotel was spot on, we loved it!
Great place for delicious food with a twist! Service is excellent and the wait staff is super accommodating.
A favorite of ours when in Boston. My friends and I all had the scallops, which were excellent. Service was great--attentive but not intrusive. Great evening.
Food was very good. Service on the other hand was disappointing given the cost of our meal.
Nice atmosphere, menu & food. We ate in tavern (brunch) and enjoyed the experience.
The service was extremely slow. When the soup finally came out, it was barely warm. We asked our server if the lobster fra diavolo was very spicy and he said “no, just a kick but not too spicy.” However, it tasted as if they poured a bottle of Tabasco in. He clearly lied to get us to order the most expensive item on the menu. The scallops and salmon were pretty good, but given the overall experience, I will never come back.
Food was great. Service was terrible!!!! Disappointed
All was amazing .. sat at upstairs bar .. although the food took a very long time to come out , and we were trying to make a show
The salmon was so delicious as was the steak. Service was excellent
Good food often supplied from local sources. Typically very good service. I like having the option of "bar" food as well as from the full menu when in the restaurant section.
Expensive so become more of a special occasion place to visit
It was a good atomosphere and service. Although it wasn’t cooked very well, follow up was quick a en awesome
We came to Local 149 after tasting the Chicken sliders (really good) at a food festival. The Hog Pops are really good, as is the lamb burger with sweet potato fries--so the food did not disappoint. Prices were fair for food with pretty good portions. Beers were good with good sizes options. Service was a bit slow, but the server was a nice guy, so we didn't mind. It got pretty busy between 6-7p--we had 5p reservations, which was the way to go. The crowd seems to be mostly local--we came from the North Shore, so it was a bit of a drive, which we probably wouldn't do again, unless we had something in town to do...
The appetizers and entrees were very good but the desserts though extremely generous were just okay. Definitely worth skipping. Service was very good.
Great restaurant for Lunch of casual dinner, the restaurant has a good vibe and mix of people
Very good food and really excellent service.
A great spot for Sunday brunch! The traditional eggs benedict was delicious! The service was very good - attentive.
Love Post 390! We've been going for a few years and always fabulous experience with service, food and great atmosphere. Going back in a few weeks with a group of friends.
We were SO pleasantly surprised by this gem of restaurant.
Loved everything from the food to the service to the special Fall menu.
Best meal we've had out in long time.
It was my husband's birthday and perfect.
We had a wonderful dinner at Post 390 to celebrate a colleague’s work anniversary. Everything was wonderful, thank you!
Wine and drinks were pretty good. Steak and trout were ok. Tomato tart was not good at all. It was OK, but for a couple dollars more on the entrees, there's a host of places with much more memorable food right around the corner.
This is a sophisticated elegant place to take a date or client you want to impress. The food is excellent
if not spectacular but I've only gone there once. My date had salmon and I had scallops and both were exceptionally well prepared and presented. My portion was small with only three scallops but the salmon was a more generous size, at least 6 oz. You don't come here for value, it is an expensive place but you will
have a pleasurable experience. Oh, my only gripe is that they have a very limited selection of wines by the glass and my Cabernet was poor, possibly due to the bottle having been opened too long. It was a mistake to not return it but I was having too good a time to make a fuss.
