We have been to Post 390 for a 50th anniversary celebration and for numerous Sunday brunches. Always, it has been a great experience.
Service was great but Kitchen didn’t seem to be able to handle the volume. It was Valentines afterall but the food that was sent out shouldn’t have been. The wait staff and mgmt was attentive and took care of it however. Which we really appreciate.
Post 390 is one of my favorite places to go for a drink or dinner! It’s cozy, the food is great and I love the location. Staff is also fantastic!!
A little pricey!
We had friends in from out of town and were looking for someplace that felt casual yet still a little special -- ie: not your typical chain or sports bar. Post 390 hit the mark perfectly -- a little grown-up but not stuffy.
We sat downstairs at a high-top table in the tavern by the roaring fireplace which was perfect for an early February evening. We were able to order off both the tavern menu (cheeseburgers) and the more formal menu used upstairs (scallops, roasted chicken). My cheeseburger was fantastic, and we shared some fun sides including the pickled-roasted cauliflower, tempura green beans and heirloom carrots. Drinks spanned the spectrum from a local IPA to an elegant Manhattan.
The one hitch was a little service snafu that left us alone a little longer than we liked at one point and got our entrees to the table at different times, but even in those case there was an attentive manager who stepped in to make sure everyone stayed happy and our evening stayed on track.
Great. Good food and excellent service! Worth it!
Always a good comfortable place on a cold evening. Food good, but getting very pricey. No bread was provided but adjacent table received.
I eat a Post 390 about twice a month. My experience yesterday was pretty bad. I had a 12:00 lunch reservation. I arrived at 11:55 and had to stand in line for over 10 minutes just to be seated even though I had a reservation. Once I was seated, I received very little attention. My guest had to be back for a meeting at 1:00. Our food had not arrived by 12:55 and he had to leave without eating. Food finally came at 1, but it was way too late. I was disappointed and embarrassed. Probably will find a new go to lunch spot because I can't run the risk of another bad experience with a contact.
Great experience. The food and service were top notch.
Excellent! My friend and I dined at post 390, not having been there before. Cozy by the fire with an excellent 2nd floor view of snow storm.
Staff professional and friendly. Delicious bronzino, perfectly grilled. And really good veggies - smoked baby carrots and creamed kale with mushrooms. We both want to go back.
Conveniently across the street from The Boston Lyric Stage Company.
Great service, outstanding food, and able to accommodate special dietary requests.
Sas was our waitress and made the evening a blast!!!
Awesome food and I consider myself a foodie!
The entire 3 course meal was superb!
Thanks so much!
We took a prospective client to Post 390 for lunch. The food was very good. The service was a little slow but it was lunchtime on a Friday and the place was quite busy. Overall, a good experience and I would return.
Post 390 is conveniently located across the street from Lyric Stage. We had a pre-performance dinner and were able to easily gauge how long it would take to get to the theater. We sat near the fireplace which was perfect for a cold evening. I had a Hawaiian pizza (please do not judge me - I know people love hate the ham-pineapple combo) and a Lamplighter beer. Both were quite tasty.
My one suggestion is that they add more sandwiches and entree salads to the bar dinner menu. I saw a table of 7 all get burgers, which says to me that the others found the alternatives slim.
Love Post 390, especially for lunch meetings. It was a little chilly in the corner, but sitting near the window that could be expected.
The dining room for this restaurant is very comfortable and very attractive; one of the best in all of Boston. The noise level is so low it is a joy to talk. However, the food preparation was just so-so. We ordered from the 3 course special menu. It seemed like the chef was trying too hard to impress with an unusual combination of ingredients. And the pork shoulder had no taste at all. Too bad because the ambiance is terrific.
Food was terrific
The service and atmosphere was excellent. We dined upstairs but ordered items off of the Tavern's menu as well. All of the food was very flavorful and had a nice presentation.
beautiful evening overlooking the Boston streetscape. Delicious food; love the farm to table items!
Food is always delicious and the service is top notch
Great spot. Never disappointing. Ever changing menu and specials are great!
Really enjoyed the food and drinks. Wine list was good and had some nice options that we actually affordable. Great and attentive service as well. Definitely recommended.
Did not bring us plates or spoons for appetizers and same for side dishes. Only 3 scallops fir dinner? Really? For that price? Not worth it
Another delicious meal at Post 3390! The cocktails, service, meal and dessert was outstanding! A great place to visit before seeing a show at Lyric Stage!
Great service by the waitress and food was delicious. Appetizer was small for the price but that was the best tasting gnocchi I’ve ever had. Would recommend 10/10
Post 390 is one of my favorite pre-theater restaurants. We usually order a burger, mezzo platter a Brick-Oven Pizza, or a dinner salad, and of course, wine...none of which is too heavy before theater. Note though, that Post 390's meals are always satisfying while fitting in with our desire to dine early and casually. Perhaps one of the greatest assets at Post 390 is their wait and hostess staff. This visit we had Chris as our waiter. He's an absolute delight! Very knowledgeable, attentive with a fun personality. Who could ask for more? We will continue to be repeat diners as long as Post 390 retains the magic formula of good food, great service with delightful personnel.
Had the ribs and they were overcooked! The rest was good. The ambiance was very nice!
NYE!!! Was excellent
We frequent Post 390 and this was our second year in a row for New Year's Eve dinner (four course meal). We had a family group of 6 and a nice corner table upstairs. The whole experience was fine and a lot of fun but the wait staff was seriously undermanned and service was woefully slow - waited 40 minutes for our first round of cocktails. We'll be back next New Year's Eve and hope for better service!
It was a fixed NYE menu, so I assume they were making lots of the same dishes at once, but my main dish (steak) was overdone, dry, and lukewarm
Great food. Service was extremely slow - server was nice and competent but had too many tables.
Lovely restaurant, a favorite actually for convenience and overall pleasant dining. Excellent starters with tuna crudo and carrot salad. Skimp d on the ricotta so I mentioned it needed more like a dollop vs a sprinkling as served. Ok so ordered the lobster fra diavalo. Big disappointment. It was dry. No broth, limited sauce, limited seasoning as in they forgot to salt the pasta water. For $42 I would have expected something more impressive so even the lobster and few mussels could not compensate for lack of flavors.. Honestly I know it’s the holidays but this dish needs some work, please. The waiter opted to ignore my displeasure by letting others help me. Desert was pleasant, but the chocolate sauce arrived cold and needed to be sent back to be heated. For $265 with tip meal for 2 this meal was average and disappointing.
Good place to go for drinks and dinner. Nice selection of wine and good appetizers. Entrees were standard but nothing overly creative. Tried their nice selection of spear point oysters and island Creek oysters... Divine. Their Tuna Crudo was excellent. I also tried their steak which was slightly over cook for medium rare but blackberry sauce was good. Their special of pork shoulder with stuffing and Apple puree sauce with some chanterelle mushrooms.. simple but moist for pork.. stuffing was nothing to write home about since it was kind of felt like soaked up croutons. This dish would been better with fingerling potatoes. Good entree but nothing out of this world. Dessert was decent but overly Frozen for baked Alaska...sorry but this restaurant of this caliber should have a little bit of flambe production and the baked Alaska should be room temperature from freezing which means just about to thaw. Service was fine but the problem was he never checked if we received our Tuna crudo so we end up getting that after our entrees. I just felt that I would have had more of a personal touch and follow up to make a perfect experience.
Dinner after The Pops
Sunday 6:00 reservations after attending the Trinity Church Candlelight Service. I made reservations in October. Our party of 6 arrived and were brought upstairs to a booth that accommodates 4 people.
My husband had the hostess give us a round table on the first floor.
We sat down at 6:05. At about 6:20 my son had to get up and have someone come over and take our drink order.
We passed on the appetizers but ordered salads and entrees. At 7:25 I went to the host to see where our food was. A bartender overheard me and said something to the effect that they had to catch the
Chicken. I could see into the kitchen and one person was on phone texting.
The restaurant was NOT busy. Service was terrible and most times the host was looking up at the Patriots game on TV. My husband and I were there years ago and were very pleased. Post 390 was a great disappointment this time.
Sunday, December 16th. 6:00.
Holiday lunch in advance of a concert nearby. Food was excellent and service good. It is an elegant place.
This Sunday brunch at 12:30 was a complete disaster. We waited over 1 hour from ordering to receiving food. We were told it was because of a large group in the restaurant. The only positive is that they took some meals off of our bill but it was bad. Completely understaffed.
Excellent location for brunch.
Great food and service. We sat upstairs and it was quite loud - at 10:45pm on a Saturday night. It was often hard to hold a conversation, but the food and service overshadowed this to make a nice evening.
