Beef brisket was so tender I could cut it with a butter knife. The bread and Cajun pasta dish were amazing too.(They make their own in house pasta). Our server was very good. Friendly, knowledgeable and on point!
We were undecided about wine choices and he gave us a free sample. Overall, an awesome experience.I can’t wait to go back!
Pleasantly surprised. 5 star experience from entry to exit. Excellent service, food and ambiance. Highly recommended.
The hummus wasn’t what I expected (not very flavorful) but still nicely prepared and a great amount for it to have been on the happy hr appetizer menu. They had great wine options on this menu as well and I had the blackened salmon which came with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes—-it was divine. The Icing on the cake literally was that they brought out a brownie with ice cream and a candle for me from the restaurant and I was so happy. Lastly the waitress seemed well versed about what was on the menu and any pros/cons of anything so I’d def come back. I don’t recall her name but she was a Petite Asian or Korean looking young lady and I was there on 11/16/19 at 11:30 AM. Thanks again I look forward to returning.
Great as always.
Great meeting place for family and friends good food and drinks
Love this place, it’s great for gathering with friends. Food and drinks are great and there’s a great DJ
Entertaining some visitors from Dallas, TX
It was great as always. The food, the atmosphere, and the music always on point.
I am giving this rating based solely on the entertainment because that's all we were able to experience. The entire time, our waitress never came to our table; We were there 2 1/2 hoyrs. The hostess who sat us ended up taking our drink order. Before we could order anything, her Manager informed her that she could no longer serve as a waitress. We were left again with no service. So, we made the best of our visit and enjoyed DJ Storm. Maybe we just had a bad experience. It was disappointing since we were there to celebrate a birthday.
Another great nite at the Potum Restaurant and Lounge. Great appetizers and drinks. The birthday dessert took a while to come out and the sizzler burned out before it was at the table. We were given another one as a gift which was nice. We enjoyed the evening and the music from Deejay Storm. This is a favorite place for a Friday nite get together.
be sure to check in if using open table. maybe have seats with high tall back for older people.
Food is great, atmosphere is great, server was stretched thin and didnt have much help, so he was a little slow.
It was EPIC!
Always a great time. Helped my girlfriend bae surprise my girlfriend for her birthday and she loved it. She's still talking about Portum.
Loved dinner and the deejay (DJ Storm) started at 9pm. What a blast. Can't wait to go back. This will be our Friday night date nite/fun nite spot. Need more servers after 9pm .
I would definitely recommend Portum. It's everything you want all in one location plus great music by the best DJ in the DMV.
Nice restaurant and the staff was great
Birthday brunch with the girls.
We chose this place for dinner because it had a good write-up, nice online menu, and was rated 4.5 stars. Other than Marian’s excellent service, it was a disappointment. First, the restaurant’s facility is beautiful, with a large marble bar, open space, comfortable seating with well spaced tables (ALL of which were empty!?!?). Second, the restaurant seems to have pared down the menu to be just a bar menu, with lots of pizza and wings choices (gone are the scallops, the cheese plate, and other desirable and innovative items). Third, the simple wine list was missing a number of the listed wines, there was no bread and butter (although Marian convinces the chef to warm-up four breakfast rolls), and, odd in any DC restaurant with its rather polluted tap water, no bottled water (either flat or sparkling). In a nutshell, we found out, the hard way, why the restaurant was empty at dinner time!
It was such a pleasant atmosphere, the food was great, the service was excellent and the DJ was off the chain thumbs up to DJ Storm, my guest love the place and I must compliment the bartenders!!!!
Thanks for a wonderful evening
Restaurant is new to serving lunch. Me & my guest had the place to ourselves which made seating easy. Water came to the table immediately. We realized that the waitress did not have full command of all items on the lunch menu after asking about a couple of dishes. Food came to table in a timely manner. The food was beautifully placed & decorated and taste even better. I’d go back but will do dinner or happy hour next time.
Had a wonderful time and definitely will be going back again. The DJ is incredible.
It was extremely difficult for me and my guest to communicate patrons at the bar were yelling over the live music and they need to implement a dress code of some sort. Also our reservation wasn't honored the table we were seated at we were told we couldn't keep after 930p because it was already reserved. The managers/owners (appeared to be husband and wife) literally arguing with each other regarding seating arrangements, they took the argument outside the restaurant but returned minutes later and began arguing again. They were about 1 foot from my dining table VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!
I would recommend based on telling them about the jazz on Thursday nights. The food not so much as I did not see a big enough variety. In addition, the happy hour did not have a big variety of drinks available or food.
I made reservation & received confirmation. Portum had no record of reservation. My aunt went in & made a new reservation, now for 8, a day in advance. But the next morning, no record of this reservation either. Should have left then while we had time to eat elsewhere before our flight. We were seated quickly & ordered drinks: coffee & orange juice. Asked again about our drinks after 10 minutes. Made another server aware we still hadn't received drinks. Ordered our food. After 30 minutes, half of our drinks arrived. Coffee and orange juice are, apparently, a specialty item here requiring extensive preparation. Finally, with the drinks straight, we waited for our food. And waited. We explained we had a flight and had only allowed 90 minutes for breakfast. They said it was no problem & our food would be right out. We waited. After we had been there 60 minutes with no food, I asked for a manger. We explained we had a flight, we had been waiting over 60 minutes for breakfast items ordered from their menu, and we were unhappy. She said the food would be right out. She stopped by our table after 7 more minutes, when my husband told her we were leaving in 5 minutes whether we had our food or not. So 3 servers brought out some food. Lots of asking what the rest of us ordered. Brought out some more, some of it wrong, some of it repeats of orders received already, some of it correct. Lots of apologies. Gave us a 25% discount and removed service charge for a large group. For those of us who got food, it was delicious. Apologies are nice. Discounts are nice. But extended incompetence at this level should not be rewarded. They said the server was new. Fine. Everyone has a first day. We were nice to her. But we made other servers and manager aware the service was unacceptable. The incompetence began with the reservation and lasted through the entire 90 minutes. The manger blamed the server for it all, which is even worse.
We enjoyed the atmosphere at Portum for our small family gathering and the food was excellent. I have already recommended the location to several people wanting to hold small gatherings and High School reunion dinners.
Good for weekend hangout. They are new so I’m giving them some grace. They had no white wine???
No Muscato??? Out of four people at my table only four people got drinks. Wait staff was very nice and kept apologizing but no white wine of any kind, even box wine??
Otherwise nice, spacious clean and comfortable. By the summer it will be a crowded spot.
Originally I reserved a table for 6 to celebrate my mother’s birthday. However we ended up with more people attending the celebration. The staff accommodated up by giving us a larger table. Our waitress was AMAZING!!!! The food and drinks were very tasteful! The DJ was also great, played good music. Saturday’s are the older crowd, which the young people still had a great time. We will be returning for future fun.
Very nice lounge for the “Grown and Sexy” crowd with a great live band playing jazz and R&B! Food and drinks are great and reasonable! (Bartender Poo fixes a mean Long Island Ice Tea and Green Tea shots! lol) Ambiance reminds me of downtown DC on the Waterfront back in the day!! Love it!! Have return several times! 😊
Portum has great character.. I remember this place from years ago (prior to remodeling) and it has improved. Modern, stylish, classy - all of these terms apply to Portum! The staff was very attentive and accommodating.
Great Date Night Venue. I plan to visit often.
Attended the jazz night...The band was really good. Nice crowd. Food and drinks were good but pricey. Overall good time.
Had a great time, the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and polite.
Food was terrible. The cheesecake isn’t cheesecake. Staff unattentive and rude. Just wanted their shift to be over, it was obvious.
Enjoyed our time at the restaurant on my mother’s birthday
Thursday Jazz is a welcome addition and the live jazz band was awesome
The restaurant and lounge is very nice beautiful decor service was great however they could add a few more items on the menu overall I enjoyed my time there. I would gladly come back there and invite others.
I made reservations for 3 and was seated within 10 minutes of my arrival. There was a jazz band playing and I loved the atmosphere. But that's it. After being seated no one ever came to our table to offer offer or to ask for our drink/dinner order. As I looked at the other tables around me, no one else had food either. We waited for 30 minutes before finally leaving.
OMG! The lounge's ambiance is nicccce. We had a party of 6 celebrating my birthday. The waiter checked on our party often, the dinner food was scrumptious, and the jazz band was awesome. The noise level was loud during the band's first set. Overall, it's a great spot to enjoy music, drinks, food and converse with any/all folks available. The best part of All is the lounge Is FREE.
We had such a great time last week that we making plans to come back. We enjoy the DJ and food. The overall service was excellent . The shrimp and grits were my favorite ,cooked perfectly.
