Well 1st off I set these reservations up and then all of a sudden the night of the reservation a guy calls me out of the blue and tells me oh well you should not have had these reservations in the 1st place doesn't apologize it's rude told me oh well I know about this yesterday but I forgot to call you and tell you it ruined my anniversary And I'm very disappointed
My steak was all fat and greasy. I could buy 3 fat steaks for $36.00. The lasagna taste awful. Too much breading. The service and atmosphere was good.
My husband and I have always enjoyed Portofino. But this was our first visit since they reopened. We were pleasantly surprised by the remodeled interior! It feels so good in there. Bravo! And the food was delicious, as always.
Great dinner, overall. Perfectly done Brussels sprouts and gnocchi appetizers started the evening off well. Pasta entrees were also excellent. Kitchen struggled with a full house creating a 45-minute gap between starters and the main course. 75-degree dining room was a bit too warm for comfort.
We have been coming to Porto Fino for several years. It’s always a nice night out, the food and service are very good.
First time dining here. Everything was wonderful!
Great service Good Food
Menu was changed from previous times and disappointing
Overall experience was just ok. Service, food, and wine were all ok not great not bad.
It's great to have Portofino back on the grid after their remodel. The new space is great, though it's going to take time for patrons and the staff to get into the groove with the new layout. Door confusion. No real hostess stand. But I trust that in time, it'll get there. The gf noodles have changed, and I'm not a fan of the new pasta, but again . . . I'm sure it'll get worked out in time.
Best homemade pasta I've had in a long time. The wine list is quality!
Overall experience was good.
Excellent as always! If you have not been you should go!
The Cesar salad was truly flavorful and balanced. Waiter knowledgeable about Italian wine. Homemade stuffed pasta delicious. Tables spaced well in honor of covid. It felt covid safe. Will recommend to friends
Food was very good, as usual and the wine selection nice!
Nice cozy restaurant serving traditional Italian favorites. Excellent service.
Quiet space for conversation in a nice neighborhood setting.
I’ll be back.
Great food and cozy atmosphere!
I love Portofino! Most of the items are grown onsite in a garden behind the restaurant - and it is FRESH! The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly, professional and attentive.
I have no reservations with referring Portofino to anyone wanting a nice, romantic meal or just some really great Italian food
Food is always good, wine selection great and the staff is fantastic. A locals favorite.
This is one of our favorite restaurants, but we had a bad time on Saturday. The service was supper slow and so was the food coming out. The waiter took care of us and felt bad. We have not been out much because of Covid, so this was a disappointing night.
They discarded my left overs, so I could not take them home.
Lovely dinner. Great food and service. Will be back.
We celebrated our anniversary here and were very pleased. The staff was slow to seat us, and they ran our of the Scampi Ravioli that we ordered, but otherwise good service and great food. I had veal and my wife had pesto seafood. Both were delicious.
We enjoyed the meals and the wine. We all three had a different dish and were pleased with each of them. It was a birthday celebration for 3 sisters. We had a reservation for 5PM so we were the only ones in the restaurant for the first part of the meal.
Have always enjoyed Portofino and the high quality food and drinks. When it closed during the pandemic we hoped it would weather the storm and reopen which fortunately it did! My date and I try to make it a weekly treat and the lasagna is out of this world as are the coffee nudges topped with REAL whipped cream!
Went here for the first time. Pleasantly surprised. We were able to sit inside, service was outstanding coupled with great food. We asked for an off menu item and were thrilled with it. Wine recommendation was also perfecto! We’ll definitely be back.
A true gem in Portland - this is one of my top three restaurants to visit. The food is always fantastic - the specials are top-notch, the service is always spot-on.
That is my best summation of this wonderful Italian restaurant that does everything right.
One of the best in town!
My food dish was not hot, had to be returned and come back fine. Other chicken dish was just not good as we expected. Yet the cost was at the high end as was the wine.
FOOD WAS POOR PREPARED, GREASY. ESCARGO WAS OK BUT MAIN DISH WAS FLOATING IN GREASE
Everything about our experience was wonderful!!! Especially loved the classy music and atmosphere. Will be back soon!
Love this restaurant. It is warm, inviting and charming. The wait staff is warm and attentive and they actually make you feel like they are genuinely happy to see you there and in our case back again. The food is comforting and the wine list exceptional. Believe it or not they have parking lot in Sellwood. I highly recommend.
Old standard in Sellwood.; being updated in good ways. Unpretentious Italian fare. Cozy feel.
Portofino Cafe is our favorite Italian restaurant in the greater Portland area. Everything is A+ at this Sellwood neighborhood restaurant. We go to Portofino's as often as possible and have had many family celebrations there. We can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Although the food was delicious, we waited for our entrees (which were two specials and two off their regular menu) for an hour and 20 min. and the place was only half full. We had to ask the wait staff twice to check on our orders. Added to that, there were no apologies, no explanations, no comps. Very disappointed, not worth it when there are so many other excellent restaurants with great service in Portland.
We have always found the food at this Italian restaurant to be outstanding. My only complaint was that my wife ordered a cup of soup that the waiter failed to bring. Other than that, the meal was great.
As long time fans of Portofino, sadly, this time our dining experience fell short. Although the front of the house appeared to be fully staffed compared with past levels, the service at our table was barely attentive, despite their availability with many open tables.
Whereas in past visits we looked forward to professional, well paced and friendly table service, this time service was uncoordinated, slow, negligent, and un-engaged. All of that might be overlooked if the food met the previous high bar, but sadly, a meal we had so looked forward to, paled in comparison to the past 12 years of dining here. What was a go-to special meals might only make the cut if we're feeling nostalgic for the location.
Always love the food and service. Lovely “date night” spot.
Service started out well and then went down hill. Took an hour and a half from our order to get bn our meal. Food was like warm and not great. Waiter did not apologize for the late meal. Very disappointing as the reviews were very positive. I would not go back.
We enjoyed our meals immensely. The food was excellent, our waiter was very nice and helpful and the atmosphere was quiet and friendly.
Consistently good food, and friendly service. The price has gone up, but still worth it.
