We had a wonderful time, could easily talk, and the food and service were OUTSTANDING. Can't wait to go back.
Great place, food, wine without the hype! In the heart of Buckhead
I enjoyed my dinner wait staff was lovely and the food was really good
everything we had at the table was awesome....
We've been here before and it appears that the portions are shrinking. I debated getting a appetizer portion of pasta for my entree ($5 less) but was grateful I went with the full portion as it was only appetizer size, at best. Salads were much smaller also. The food is very good, nice wine selections, but disappointing that they have chosen to cut corners on portions since they were never over-sized to begin with.
They have extensive wine list, but our server new very little about the wine or wine in general. If the servers do not know the wine list or wine in general, then the restaurant should have a sommelier to step in to help. We picked this Italian restaurant based on the reviews, but we were disappointed in almost every aspect. The caesar salad looked very unappealing when it arrived to the table and the taste followed the appearance. The lettuce appeared to be made up of all the left overs from various heads and their was no crispness or color to the leaves. There was a whole anchovy found at the bottom of the bowl, so again not impressed with he presentation. The octopus salad was overall good but again the presentation was hap hazard. The Black Spaghetti Vongole was cool when it arrived and the clams were chewy. The fish in the special was tasty and cooked well, but the vegetables, potatoes, and fermented rice sides were over salted. For two people with one glass of wine each , one appetizer, one caesar salad, one entree and one pasta dish the bill was $115 before tip. It may have been an off night for the restaurant, but we will choose another of the many Italian restaurants in Atlanta next time. The highlight of our trip to the restaurant was the valet. He was so professional and personable. He is the first and last contact for the restaurant and he does a great job!!
Excellent as usual. One of our favorites. Great food, great staff and warm ambience. Highly recommend.
Everything was perfect. The food, the service and the room they set us in, all delightful.
I have been a Portofino customer for years (dined there maybe 20+ times, including several Christmas Eve dinners) and my recent visit was very disappointing. My pasta was broken and clumped together in lumps. My dish (the short rib pasta) seemed thrown together in an insouciant way. Poor flavor, poor texture, and it was the evening special. I only ate about 1/3 and gave up. My wife reports her dinner was just "OK" but not at all what we were accustomed to. I might give them another try, but not with my occasional out-of-town guests. I used to love Portofino and I hope they get back on track.
Excellent service including the valet.
Wonderful catch up dinner with 6 girlfriends, and it was wonderful! Rainy night, but warm and inviting inside, great service, and everyone was happy with what they had ordered.....plus, our server split the bill and did 7 credit cards: above and beyond!!!
we dine here on many occasions and it is always excellent.
This was our second time visiting Portofino and it was fabulous! Great service, excellent wine, and the food is amazing. We will definitely be back!
Never disappoints. Waiter was excellent, recommendations were thoughtful. Food couldn’t have been better, love the salad.
Great until a large, loud, obnoxious group was seated in our small quite room
My wife and I went here on the recommendation of of a friend who works in the high end restaurant industry in Atlanta. We went early and had an excellent time. The fresh ingredients and original dishes are worth checking out Portofino.
We had a great meal.
Normally I love Portofino but I was disappointed in the quality of the food. I am not sure if it was Valentine’s Day and the place was packed but the food was not up to its usual quality. Service was very good as usual.
This food did not miss a step. This could replace Sotto Sotto for us. Less expensive, less packed in, more fun.
Ther service was awesome and the food was fantastic and the wine was really good. Good date place.
Surprised they did not offer a veal dish. Rest of the menu is great.
Casual birthday dinner.
My spouse and I went to Portofino for a birthday celebration. We had a real nice experience. We went there on a Saturday evening. The restaurant had the right amount of bustling energy. The ambience was good. Service was exceptional.
For a starter, we had the brussel sprouts. They were great tasting. Best sprouts yet!
For the main entree we had the shrimp pasta dish. It was good. Initially, very spicy. We both got used to the spice halfway through the dish.
Next time, we plan to try their special or the scallops.
Always good. Meal was wonderful and waitress extremely helpful. Wait for valet can be too long as they only have 1 person working.
Warm greeting at the door at the beginning and at the end was exceptional. Trout and beet salad were delicious...the broccoli side needed to be cooked longer. Waitress was efficient but lacking in friendliness. Will return.
Everything was awesome make sure you get Jaime she was a fantastic server
Food was fresh and delicious. Had Gluten free options that made meal selection easy.
Love Portofino! The restaurant never dissappoints on food, service and ambiance!
I went for my birthday and everything from the valet outside to the service to the food was amazing.
Been going there since it opened. Through many chefs the food has always been good. The mushroom ragu pasta we had there this visit was one of the best meals we have had there over time.
We have been twice and both times were served by Kelly, who is absolutely outstanding. She is knowledgeable about the menu, the wines and cocktails. Her recommendations have always be too notch. The food is creative, but not too far fetched from the familiar comfort food that Italian food is. It’s not your traditional red sauce, smothered in cheese Italian. The dishes are authentic, thoughtful and flavorful! The ambiance is cozy in the winter and fun during the summer (the outdoor dining space is great). Definitely a must do in the Buckhead area!
We chose Portofino for NYE dinner. We had a wonderful experience and meal.
New Years Eve
New Year's Eve 2017 . The food was excellent. We were able to order off the menu, but there were excellent specials. We were not rushed and the service was excellent.
Wish they were open for lunch again.
Great New Year’s Eve dinner.
The reception personal are remarkably flexible in accommodating table selection, greeting and genuinely thanking us for dining there. The servers and kitchen are similarly accommodating for substitutions. The customer feels welcome. The food is excellent. Last time more salt than my wife and I prefer, so next time we will request lower sodium preparation. One of our favorite places to eat.
The Cacio e Pepe here is the closest I've had to authentic Italian since I visited the country, and I am SO happy I found it! Everyone had a great meal, and the birthday tiramisu was excellent!
Lovely service, good food . Excellent martini. Quiet which was great for one on one conversation. Stayed for 3 hours
