The cuisine at Portofino is inspired by the many culinary regions of Italy. The menu and wine list constantly change with the seasons.
Group of six went to celebrate wife’s 80th birthday at 8.45 pm. Few tables were occupied and initially service was slow in taking drinks orders, but it improved. We had a range of dishes and all were excellent.
Would highly recommend Portofino.
Everything was perfect! Victoria was amazing!
Food was superb!
Wonderful Birthday Dinner for Dad. Everything was perfect!
Great time of the year to seat in the patio
Sat outside on the patio and it was a delightful Fall evening. Our waiter was very personable, but did not hover. He made great recommendations for an Italian wine and trout. It was delicious and fun.
The outdoor dining area is charming and quiet. The service was attentive though not especially warm or welcoming. The meals were somewhat disappointing as they seemed very average and lacked creativity. In general, the menu needs more originality and complexity of flavors.
This place is as good today as it was 10 years ago. Fresh Italian dishes including classic and creative options. The service is always great. The patio is wonderful when the weather permits. I highly recommend Portofino!
Great place for a quiet romantic dinner. Excellent food!
Lovely meal as always
As always the best!
We have been Portofino patrons for years. The food has been and still is good but two things have changed. First, the portions last Sunday were significantly small and much more so than similar fine restaurants. The portion size of the halibut I had was unreasonable and expensive. Second, sitting on the porch with a large building under construction beside the patio is unappealing. I know they can't control what goes up next to them, but it changes the environment.
Portofino never disappoints! The food is consistently excellent and there are always wonderful regional specials. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Ambiance is charming with many options indoors and out. One of my favorite little gems in Buckhead...away from the crowd!
We have been here twice very recently - to say everything was great would be an understatement! Excellent wine list. Excellent service. Fantastic dinner offerings. Then the complementary Tiramisu for the birthday person was to quote "to die for!" The five of us all tasted, for it was a very generous portion. Thanks to all the gang, we'll see you again soon. Dennis and guests.
The P in Portofino’s also stands for PERFECTION!
We were celebrating (2) birthdays at this dinner, and the evening was just lovely.
The food was terrible and we were so disappointed. It used to be a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. I’ll give it one more try before I scratch it off our list of options.
Extremely good service, waiter was very friendly and helpful
It was great!
Wonderful evening in every way. Love the new fall menu. Squash soup w pumpkin seeds is intense...in a great way. King Salmon special was perfect. Delightful service.
Staff and food was amazing! For our 1st anniversary, they went above and beyond helping with surprises and throwing in some of their own! We are definitely going back.
I hadn’t been to Portofino in approximately 4 years. My son was coming in from out of town and staying in midtown so we decided to meet at Portofino for dinner. We were 6 people. 5 people loved their food except the person who ordered the pasta with mushrooms. The sausage arugula pasta was a big hit. I felt the pasta options were limited and two of us at the table had the Bolognese. Unfortunately, the two of us can’t have cream and the bolognese had cream. We knew this when we ordered it but we wanted a half portion of something. We felt the full portions were skimpy. The bread and dessert were delicious as well. Overall, not as taken with the restaurant as I was years ago.
We had a delightful evening at Portofino's last Monday. The appetizers were delicious and included crispy eggplant with a tomato sauce, Crispy brussel sprouts, and veal and ricotta meatballs (excellent!). Our entrees were also delicious. I had the Alaskan Halibut which I enjoyed. Our waiter was very attentive and helped make our dinner special. We will be back!
Wonderful intimate atmosphere, eating either inside or out at this hidden gem. Our server was attentive, the food SOOO delicious! I had such difficulty deciding on an entree, all looked appetizing. Really liked they have smaller portion sizes. They brought glasses of Champagne for our anniversary and a surprise tiramisu for my husband's birthday! A treat all around to be here.
We've been many times to Portofino. The ambiance and service is always good. However, I've found in the past few times we've been, the food has been quite salty, a bit too heavy handed on the seasoning.
But otherwise an enjoyable evening.
Not your typical Italian restaurant, Portofino surprises on many fronts. A cozy if eclectic bar welcomes diners and a very professional staff handles all dining matters deftly. The menu isn't your typical Italian joint so don't expect a slew of pastas and parmagian offerings. Food is solid but be sure to ask to be seated in the front inside dining room as the main rear room has the acoustics of a train station and is ear-splittingly loud on busy nights.
Very good food. Unpretentious. Good service. Will go back.
Great food and great food across the board:
Nicole was an AMAZING waitress!!
Good food, wanted the steak but our waiter suggested told me that Italian places aren’t known for steaks and said he wouldn’t get it...asked for his suggestions and he didn’t have any...went with pasta that was ok...also a misunderstanding with drinks with the waiter...everything outside of the waiter was good.
Lovely evening and sat outside! Best appetizer we have ever had! Thinly sliced baked eggplant!!
Love the deck and our waiter jermain was the best!!
Visitor in town
Great food and wonderful service, as always!
Menu always has a regional variation, which adds a nice touch to chef’s specials.
Entree available in regular sizes or smaller appetizer portions, which is great when you don’t want to overeat but want a couple of courses!
Staff was great
Food not as good as usual. Caesar salad had a very fishy taste - had to send it back. Too much basil in peach dessert. Ambiance was, as always, great.
Business meal with my manager from Philly. Great wine recommendations and the Duck I had was perfectly cooked. I highly recommend for personal and business meals!
We had a delicious and leisurely meal at Portofino. Jermaine, our server, was excellent as was the food. We love meeting friends here and will go back again and again.
An ideal welcoming spot for family or business dinners.
Food, as it has been for years was outstanding, as was the ambiance and drinks. For the first time in over 10 years, our server was not very attentive. It is still one of my wife and mine top three restaurants in Atlanta. Great for special occasions and group dinners.
I have been here several times in the past month or so and each time the food and service has been terrific.
The servers were absolutely wonderful personable , knowledgable, engaging. the food was awful- the bread was stale, the warm burrata cheese dish was made with old cheese and drowning in a very sweet sauce, the meat stuffed shells awful -the meat was spoiled the shells were so old the tops of them were cracked, the scallop shrimp mussel pasta was fair - the shrimp was old fishy tasting - the scallops were good. Dessert was a spoiled peach and berry cobbler that smelled like spoiled milk and the lemon cheesecake tasted ok but was clearly several days old. the server was very apologetic and removed the spoiled shells from our bill. she was so delightul that we didn't have the heart to tell her how bad everything else was.
