Possibly the best oysters I had in Boston. Very nice meze, too, and a pleasant surrounding easy to talk to and discuss with colleagues - contrary to many other Boston restaurants where the noise level is very high.
This was our second time coming to Porto and it was just as delicious as the first time. We sat at the bar and started with a few tapas and just kept going. Our favorite for the whole experience was the Lamb Chops, cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Drinks were great and wine selection was very good. A definite place to go.
Great food and service as always
All of the small plates were very good, especially the empanadas, the shrimp, the meatballs, and the tuna. Entrees varied more. The chicken milanse was over-salted. The paella was decent but seem a little bland (maybe more saffron or other spice to pep it up a bit).
Although the menu was limited, the food ordered was good.
Our waiter, Alex C was not the friendliest. After waited more than 15 minutes to take our wine order, his narcissist attitude did not allow him to apologize for the wait, much less offered recommendations or further help.
Not a pleasant time while at Porto.
Porto is very good for dinner and I recommend it. but I do not recommend for brunch. We have been twice and the food was mostly inedible. Each of us had a different food: avocado toast, oysters, French toast, egg/bacon/toast and the yogurt. The yogurt ($10) was listed with fruit and granola and had four berries and less than 1/2 teaspoon of a seed The restaurant was almost empty but our group of five adults was seated next to a family which included 6 children. We had hoped to treat our visiting friends to a lovely relaxed brunch after a busy couple of days. Really disappointing. Service was indifferent and very slow.
We came for brunch. 2 families including kids.
Our server made our experience a lousy one.
We liked the food a lot, but the server treated us like we were not welcome there. They only had 3 tables with guests, most of the restaurant was empty.
Parking garage cost 35$.
Would not recommend and will not come again.
Good meal but not great. And the chicken milanese dish was inedible. Our kind waiter comped it!
One of my Boston faves. Never disappoints, always delicious, and the cocktails are to die for.
Chef does an excellent job with the ingredients, flavors, and presentation
Great experience. Staff were excellent—we were dining before a concert and the staff were fantastic at ensuring everything was timed perfectly. Also gave good advice on the menu. Food was really good—a combination of small plates to shares and entrees. Portion sizes were reasonable. I would like to go back when I’m not rushing for a concert.
We like the menu options at Porto and keep going back, but the service is really uneven. We asked if there was a special. The answer was yes but our server didn't encourage our getting it. Not clear why. Ultimately, I decided to order it. A few minutes later the server came out of the kitchen and said it wasn't available because the fish never came in that morning. Servers delivering food from the kitchen are often so glum it makes one wonder what's going on in the kitchen. It's too bad because the food is quite good and has improved over time.
Food was barely warm and underwhelming. Told the server and his response was- sorry. He was barely around, no coffee refill and we waited for over20 minutes for the check, and they were only about 25% full. I’ve always had good experiences in the evening in the bar area, but this was disappointing.
We were very happy with our experience at Porto. We reserved a space at the countertop ahead of time. The atmosphere was nice and our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered several small plates (salad, burrata, eggplant chips, meatballs, and Brussels sprouts. The food arrived quickly from the open kitchen area. The burrata and sprouts were our favorite dishes. Would definitely return the next time we are in Boston.
Too loud , overpriced , food was too salty ...
Wouldn’t recommend to go , too many better places you can go to
Great service! Great food. Great Vibe. Will be returning with friend again.
We were very dissapointed in the direction the menu has taken. No more Olive lattice bread, most plates are reduced to tapas, tartar is a focus. Its about our 7th visit since its founding. It is very obvious that the menu is built around foods that are not cooked or foods that take very little time to prepare. We will not go back unless to have one of the fabulous martinies.
The food was just ok. The wine was excellent. We sat at the table for about 15 mins before anyone addressed us and then we called someone over. Overall everything was ok.
Disappointing. Food was average service was really bad. Would not go back.
As I have several times observed in the past, the food and drink at Porto are creative and delicious. My only quibble regarding this last visit is that the hostess failed to offer to take the coats of me and my dining partner when we arrived. This should have been automatic given the rainy, windy night. That having been said, we were never rushed during a long evening in which we were the last to leave, having enjoyed a wonderful dinner with attentive, but not intrusive, service.
Some of the best service I’ve ever had. Our waitress was fantastic.
Lovely Saturday brunch. Loved the menu. Warm and comfortable.
The food, service and cocktails were all excellent, but it's a little loud
Such a great location and definitely a vibrant scene. We made a rez months in advance and confirmed the day before--arrived on time to be told "You can sit at the bar (for a party of 3? No thanks) or wait; we should have something soon. We're overbooked." Now I know airlines do this, but a rez is a rez. If I've confirmed, my table should be waiting or about to turn over when I arrive. The place was packed with people mostly still reading the menus. Front of the house staff seemed inexperienced. We agreed to take a table for two and two of us squeezed onto the banquette. They promised to move the adjacent table over when that party left. They forgot. Meanwhile, the service was attentive and the food edible. The Prosecco had to go back--why pour from last night's bottle? it's always flat and I do notice and care! Won't go back. Oh well. Great location.
They brought every single dish (raw bar, tapas, entrees) at the same time.
Was not extremely tasty but could chalk it up to the dishes I ordered.
Was not very attentive service.
I still gave a good tip because our waiter seemed nice. But do not recommend going here. Overpriced and overall poor service.
The Porto experience was very diasappointing. Awful service, moderate food!
Porto is our very favorite Boston restaurant, and we eat out 3-4 times a week. Food is really diverse and really good The waitstaff is outstanding. They know there food and they know there wine. Bar seating for dinner is available and is a fun change.
For dinner we had seven different meze dishes, and there wasn’t a misstep with any of them. They ranged from good to great, with the pork belly and lamb chops as highlights (the falafel, shrimp saganaki, sprouts, tuna tartare and oxtail empanadas were all very good) .
For dessert we had a coconut custard that was also excellent. The custard was a good texture, rich and creamy with a light coconut taste. The citrus on top perfectly balanced things out.
I will say that service was exceptionally slow, drinks and food took forever to come out. That being said, the waiter was aware of the situation without us saying a word, and took a mezze dish and the dessert off the bill. This makes me think that they have excellent service and possibly were just short-staffed that night.
Add in that prices are completely reasonable for Boston, and this is a must go spot. I’ll be back for sure.
The food was quite good, but overshadowed by the service. After being seated, we waited almost 30 minutes before be greeted by a server and it seemed that the other server in the area was actively avoiding eye contact. The portions are generous, when we finally got our food.
6 or 7 items on mains menu of which 3 were unavailable at 8 pm on a Saturday night? 3 separate bottles of wine unavailable. We were seated beside a door to outdoor dining area so were freezing every time door opened. Two members of our 5 party ordered hanger steak as choice otherwise very limited. High points were Meze platter. Could not recommend this restaurant
Server was great but then there was an extraordinary wait for the main course... management gave a deep discount without being asked... left knowing I’d return.
Wife & I were in Boston for a meeting. We were staying a block away. I saw Porto in on line a made reservations for 6:15 on a Sat. We were on time & seated right away, not in the main dining area but the lounge. Normally I find this objectionable, but given how crowded and noisy the main room was, this was a good option. Drinks, orders, etc were taken promptly, then we were forgotten about. This corresponded with hoards of dinners pooring through the door seemingly non stop. The wrong apps were brought, major delay for mains. The food itself was good but over seasoned. The manager did offer us a dessert gratis, but they never got around to taking our order.
Would not go back again.
The menu was fantastic - a Mediterranean Tapas restaurant with each item more amazing than the last. The restaurants ambiance is stunning but the back room where we sat was very loud and difficult to have a conversation without yelling.
We all loved our food! Each of us tried a few tapas and all were original with great flavors.
Had great service. A few of us were in town for a medical conference and it was perfect location walking distance to Copley Square. We allsaid we’d go back.
Food was very inconsistent. Ingredients were not top notch. Octopus was mushy, tuna was chewy. Burata was boring. Shrimp dish described incorrectly on the menu, and we didn't like it, so we sent it back. The Sunchokes were the only dish that hit the mark.
Superb meal, great service, will return many times
Very Disappointed! We have been to Porto many times as it is so close to where we live it feels like our neighborhood restaurant. We wanted to introduce Porto to friends who live out of town. It fell short. Although the food was good, the service lacked - water glasses left unfilled, table not cleared of used and unnecessary dishes/glassware. My main course was brought out and the server had disappeared (he was to have filleted the fish at the table). On top of all that, the noise level was intolerable.
I expect more from a Jodi Adams establishment.
The food and service was excellent! I love all the vegetable options and the cauliflower and Eggplant chips are incredible!! I enjoyed bringing my friends there to share lots of dishes. Fantastic food!!!!
Great restaurant, but our reservation was for 8:30 and we were not seated until 9:30. The hostess was very apologetic and comped our first drink and some appetizers, but by the time we were seated, the dish that we came in for was sold out for the night. The food was very good and the staff was very gracious, but due to the wait time, I have trouble giving Porto the rating of which I know that it is probably worthy. The service rating of 3 stars reflect the wait time, not the waiter - he was great!
