Porto’s private dining room exudes the aesthetics of a modern Mediterranean restaurant. Touches of netted crystal lighting over coffered concrete ceilings and mirrored accents beautifully contrast our brown leather banquettes and warm wooden toned tables.View Private Dining Details
For dinner we had seven different meze dishes, and there wasn’t a misstep with any of them. They ranged from good to great, with the pork belly and lamb chops as highlights (the falafel, shrimp saganaki, sprouts, tuna tartare and oxtail empanadas were all very good) .
For dessert we had a coconut custard that was also excellent. The custard was a good texture, rich and creamy with a light coconut taste. The citrus on top perfectly balanced things out.
I will say that service was exceptionally slow, drinks and food took forever to come out. That being said, the waiter was aware of the situation without us saying a word, and took a mezze dish and the dessert off the bill. This makes me think that they have excellent service and possibly were just short-staffed that night.
Add in that prices are completely reasonable for Boston, and this is a must go spot. I’ll be back for sure.
6 or 7 items on mains menu of which 3 were unavailable at 8 pm on a Saturday night? 3 separate bottles of wine unavailable. We were seated beside a door to outdoor dining area so were freezing every time door opened. Two members of our 5 party ordered hanger steak as choice otherwise very limited. High points were Meze platter. Could not recommend this restaurant
Server was great but then there was an extraordinary wait for the main course... management gave a deep discount without being asked... left knowing I’d return.
Wife & I were in Boston for a meeting. We were staying a block away. I saw Porto in on line a made reservations for 6:15 on a Sat. We were on time & seated right away, not in the main dining area but the lounge. Normally I find this objectionable, but given how crowded and noisy the main room was, this was a good option. Drinks, orders, etc were taken promptly, then we were forgotten about. This corresponded with hoards of dinners pooring through the door seemingly non stop. The wrong apps were brought, major delay for mains. The food itself was good but over seasoned. The manager did offer us a dessert gratis, but they never got around to taking our order.
Would not go back again.
The menu was fantastic - a Mediterranean Tapas restaurant with each item more amazing than the last. The restaurants ambiance is stunning but the back room where we sat was very loud and difficult to have a conversation without yelling.
We all loved our food! Each of us tried a few tapas and all were original with great flavors.
Had great service. A few of us were in town for a medical conference and it was perfect location walking distance to Copley Square. We allsaid we’d go back.
Food was very inconsistent. Ingredients were not top notch. Octopus was mushy, tuna was chewy. Burata was boring. Shrimp dish described incorrectly on the menu, and we didn't like it, so we sent it back. The Sunchokes were the only dish that hit the mark.
Superb meal, great service, will return many times
Very Disappointed! We have been to Porto many times as it is so close to where we live it feels like our neighborhood restaurant. We wanted to introduce Porto to friends who live out of town. It fell short. Although the food was good, the service lacked - water glasses left unfilled, table not cleared of used and unnecessary dishes/glassware. My main course was brought out and the server had disappeared (he was to have filleted the fish at the table). On top of all that, the noise level was intolerable.
I expect more from a Jodi Adams establishment.
The food and service was excellent! I love all the vegetable options and the cauliflower and Eggplant chips are incredible!! I enjoyed bringing my friends there to share lots of dishes. Fantastic food!!!!
Great restaurant, but our reservation was for 8:30 and we were not seated until 9:30. The hostess was very apologetic and comped our first drink and some appetizers, but by the time we were seated, the dish that we came in for was sold out for the night. The food was very good and the staff was very gracious, but due to the wait time, I have trouble giving Porto the rating of which I know that it is probably worthy. The service rating of 3 stars reflect the wait time, not the waiter - he was great!
Wonderful food but very loud, server was late with both drinks and wine, server forgot two items, and a featured wine on the menu was suddenly reported sold out. We're excited to see Porto work out the bugs with its service and succeed. It offers a terrific menu.
Interesting food and flavorful
Excellent meal, service and ambiance! Try it. You’ll be glad you did!
Very tasty food (though a little too salty) and nice glass of wine at a good value.
Porto is great for food and drink. The noise level is tough to compete with though. Acoustics could be much better.
Porto is an outstanding dining spot, with food choices that are both memorable and remarkable!
Excellent Brunch ! Great food and fabulous patio. It is a fabulous restaurant in the center of Boston with Great Food, Service and Ambiance . The wait staff is well versed in the menu and preparation.
Food was ok, service was horrendous. I had to go up to the bar more than once, to ask for drinks and then the check. I won’t be returning.
Despite the hype, I was unimpressed. The food was only so-so and the noise level made it difficult to talk, even at a curved corner banquette. The choice of small plates was impressive so it would probably be a good choice for a large group & sharing.
We had dinner at Porto which is probably our tenth time eating there. We love the freshness of the seafood and the service just keeps getting better and better. Keep it up!!!
This was my second visit. The first was excellent. This time, the food was not as good, the noise volume was high and the service was mixed.
the food was not interesting. my entree was lukewarm but no one bothered to come by till it was half eaten. I was too hungry to send it back
Everything was excellent! Great food. Great waiter ..Lucas . The food was really delicious and everything came out hot . This is a great neighborhood restaurant for lunch and Dinner. The Mezza platter is just delicious and so fresh !
Was a busy night so the volume might be more quiet normally. Got 3 small plates and one large one to split between 2 people. Food was very good and the wine list is solid (I mean you're not finding amazing bottles but its solid). Service was good and it was fun sitting at the bar watching the chef's cook the food. Overall very happy with our meal for date night there.
We arrived for our 7pm reservation on a Friday night. We asked for the quietest table, but the entire restaurant was noisy both inside and outside. The waitress was very friendly but obviously over-worked. We never got table water, although she was very quick to offer new orders of soda. By the way, Coke and Diet Coke come in 8oz glass bottles that are very pricey, and there are no free refills. Our appetizers were pitifully small, each order was perhaps 2 mouthfuls only. Even the $30 entre dinners were very small. We tried the dessert and again found very expensive, very small portions. After spending over $120 we left hungry- that just doesn't seem right!
Porto changes the menu seasonally, and changes staff from time to time. There are new managers, but the same fabulous chef, wine, food, with Jody Adams keeping Porto wonderful, whether in the dining room inside or on the patio outside.
Food was completely uninspiring. I have no idea how this restaurant garnered the scores it has from the various rating services. Place was also very empty for a Thursday night. Perhaps the word is already out!
The food was outstanding and the service was great.
Never before had a waiter ask if there was anything wrong with the service bc we left an 18% tip...we were so embarrassed we left more money and then I thought, “management should know he is doing this”...they were gracious and very upset but it’s a first for me -and I’ll never go back despite the food being solid
wonderful..just wonderful..food, atmosphere and service are all top notch
Awesome appetizers- fresh quality Mediterranean food. One of the best restaurants in backbay by far
I was in town for a conference. Dining solo. Felt well taken care of at the counter, with excellent recommendations of food. Everything fresh and flavorful.
We are never disappointed at Porto. The flavors of the small plates were delicious. We like how they have expediters bring the plate right to the table from the kitchen. I especially enjoyed the fish entree with arugula on top. We seem to eat more vegetarian lately and Porto accommodates this quit nicely. We also like the wait staff at Porto for providing excellent service. They go out of their way to make the experience special.
Food was way overpriced for the portion size. and the taste could not justify the price
Great spot. Sat in a super cozy corner with pillows, it was perfect for date night. Food was very satisfying. (Foodie approved) Cocktails were awesome. Nice wine list too. We tried the falafel, eggplant chips, burrata, Street corn. They were all incredibly perfect versions of it. Next I had the gnocchi. It was delicious. Nothing crazy unique, but very well done. Last but not least the steak entree. Awesome flavors in the sauce. Cooked as requested. Our server, who seemed to be a bartender as well, was very knowledgeable about everything, and helped with my girlfriends gluten allergy happily and effectively.
This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever experienced. From slow and unprofessional service to late, incorrectly cooked and missing food, we would never go here again FOR BRUNCH.
Our party of four, who live out in the ‘burbs, chose Porto for our dinner together. It was lovely to be in the city, eating on their outdoor patio, on an end-of-summer cool’ish evening. Rhonda, our hostess, and the staff covering the patio couldn’t have been more welcoming, bringing drinks and assuring us that a table was opening up soon. (We reserved a table beforehand). We shared two apps of cauliflower and mushrooms, and each had our own entree, of yellowfin tuna, seared scallops, and steak. They were all delicious! So enjoyed a satisfying and fun evening at Porto!
Great little patio away from street noise. Delicious food. Our favorites were the meze shrimp and the meze cauliflower. But everything we ordered was fresh and delicious.
When it's warm out, the patio is amazing. The service is casual but well trained. The food is always great and composed of a variety of big dinner plates and small sharing portions. It's never too loud there so I find it a good place to sit and talk. I think the only stipulation I have is that the ambiance is a bit casual for the prices but it's not a turnoff. The food is worth it and comes out fairly quick.
