Took my best friend here for dinner which was incredible! The main part of the menu were small shareable plates that are just the right size
The service was a bit spotty, but they had a party going on. The food was outstanding and it was a very fun vibe.
The food was excellent. The Brussel Sprouts and pastas being a standout. The only downside is there was a Medical conference of some kind having an after party there so the patio was inaccessible and the restaurant was LOUD. I could hardly hear myself
I’m not sure if it’s a thing there but the Wait Staff’s loves rolling their eyes and being rude to tables all over the dining room. I watched the hostess and two different Wait Staff people kind a give each other looks and rolled her eyes every time the table to the right of made the left of me and a couple at the bar ask questions about the food or drinks. My waiter was very short with us when we asked questions.
Food a bit pricy for what it is. Some of the food items in the descriptions were not on the actual plate
Amazing server and delicious food. Fun atmosphere.
Ate outside and enjoyed the tapas
Best octopus I've ever had. Decent wine list. Vegetable Paella not good--sticky, overcooked rice (a major no-no in paella--more like a risotto), not enough vegetables, and NO SOCA, which is a sin--it was way overpriced, too. Branzino was pretty good, but no effort made to filet at the table, and for $45, they should have spoon fed it to me, too. BUT, the place is cold, table wobbly, AND THE G/D MUSIC WAS SO INAPPROPRIATE FOR DINNER--more like a rave, and less like an expensive restaurant. ridiculous. I asked who picked the drum/bass mix, and i was told it was the host's choice. Host needs a beating, apparently. Also, the stark walls and glass amplify the noise, so it's a VERY noisy place to drop $150 per person. I couldn't possibly return.
Pretty great food, avoid the rubbery calamari and the service was less than quality
The food was well-prepared; paella was fine. Scallop crudo was delicious. Fried calamari tasty.
Nice location and staff, okay food.
Wait staff was as great, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. A little noisy but otherwise great.
Overall it was a very good dining experience. A slight snag with service when my request to plate the pasta into 2 portions was rejected. At my last visit. The pasta dish was plated into 2 without asking therefore I didn’t expect a rejection. And a poor reason that the pasta dish was too small to plate into two was given.
A fun place for a tapas type meal—good selection of choices and a good wine list.
Great small plates!
Excellent all around! Fantastic drinks, food and service. We had the halibut, scallops, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. My new favorite restaurant
Our server, David N, was fantastic! We had a great time and will be back. Yummy creative food and lively vibe.
We tried lots of the Mezze dishes and enjoyed them all. Particular highlights: Falafel, mussels, brussel sprouts. Service was also excellent.
Many struggles with service throughout the evening and ended up being over 40 minutes before we even had a drink. The meal crawled along after that and took almost three hours to get out. Food was given to the wrong people and the wrong tables. Portions were tiny. Prices were highly.
This was our first visit, although we had been to Rialto a number of times (we do not live in Boston). The food was very good. the service was excellent. The hostess, however, could not have been more unhelpful if she tried. We are older, a comfortable seat matters. When we asked if we could have another table, there were a number of duces and 4 tops unoccupied around us, she said she was holding them for later arrivals and walked away. These same tables remained unoccupied throughout our meal. She let us know by her actions and manner that we did not count. We might be old, but our money is still green. We would still come back the next time we are in Boston. We would hope that someone will do some retraining for the hostes in the meantime,
The food was good but the portions were quite small, ordered two appetizers and a pasta dish which was quite greasy, service was definitely lacking, maybe it was an off night, then again maybe not!
Hangin our on the patio, beautiful night, excellent tapas made for a fun and lively meal. Try the Brussels sprouts, scallops and octopus...also had yummy paella. Overall great meal
My husband and I took our son and two friends for dinner before Boston Pops. Loved the mezze style as it allowed us to sample and share lots of different dishes. We all thought the food was delicious and the service was outstanding - our server was there when we needed her and kept checking in without hovering. Decor doesn't match the food and service but it's pleasant enough. Convenient location adds to the appeal.
I have been to Porto now 6-7 times in the past 6 most. The variety of offerings both in size and composition makes it easy to find just the right combination for the appetite du jour. Perhaps the best feature is the consistency of the preparation. They have excellent quality control.
Great food. Will definitely return for more! The spaghetti with clams were excellent as were the ousters. Only glitch was that our server changed our oyster order and did not tell us. Apparently, they ran out of one oyster and substituted with another one without telling us. Even though we did not get the oyster ordered, it was still good. The restaurant is Highly recommended.
Beware large groups. Made a reservation online for 8 and I had to provide a credit card. When we arrived a table was not ready for our party. On the plus side we picked our spot but the table wobbled & needed adjusting. All small plate menu. Not enough to share. Each of us ordered 2 per person. Flavorful but pricey. The kitchen did a good job. The policy is the food comes out as it's ready, so some of us had food to eat, others not. Even desserts were not delivered together so the birthday girl had to wait for her sorbet to arrive after others ate their torta. I've had dinner for two there before at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed it, that's why I recommended it. But given my experience this time, I would not recommend Porto for a group event.
This was our fourth visit to Porto. We love Mediterranean food and Porto is wonderful. We enjoy ordering lost of meze dishes to share. Have never been disappointed .
Food was fantastic. Great Wine. Overall great experience. Great Mediterranean food.
Enjoyed dinner and will certainly come again. Enough said..........................
I had booked Porto for my 30th birthday dinner with some girlfriends and we were all really excited to try it after hearing such great reviews. I arrived first and was greeted by a kind hostess who told me I couldn’t be seated until the other two girls in my party arrived. No problem at all there, she was kind about it. The others arrived and we were sat by the door, although there were plenty of other tables open in the space. But i didn’t hold it against them, figuring they were expecting to be busy on the Thursday evening. Our waiter arrived at our table, not even a minute after being seated and asked what we’d like for a drink. While I appreciate service people who are prompt, he didn’t even give us time. When we told him we weren’t ready yet but may need a couple minutes to figure out drinks, he seemed frustrated and left, not even introducing himself. When we finally put drinks and food in, he seemed agitated with our menu questions and was the least attentive server the rest of the evening. If I had to judge this place on service alone, I’d give it a resounding 1/5. But the food and drinks were delicious, especially the eggplant chips, albeit small plates. I’ll be back, but hopefully not to be served by him.
Thanks for a delicious meal Porto!! Everything was wonderful.
Not pictured - lamb chop. The zhoug was a great pairing.
The most amazing Brussels sprouts and fried eggplant ever!! Amazing mezzo board as well
Super loud!!!! Service excellent and speedy and food excellent. Not great for any conversation but fine for hoisting glasses to celebrate
Great place for a group dinner--we ordered several shared plates and had a great time trying many things!
Food is always outstanding at both of their restaurants - Porto and Trade. We are big foodies and they are our favorite restaurants right now. Started with the Mezze plate and eggplant chips, which are terrific! We then had the meatballs, Brussel spouts, whole wheat pasta, lobster lettuce wraps and octopus, which were all delicious! The food and service were outstanding. Justin was our server and was so attentive. My mother had a dietary restriction, which the restaurant accommodated with ease and the chef came out to see her. Honestly, Porto and Trade are two of the top restaurants in the city right now.
Everything was downright fantastic. I’m a food snob and have been to many a Boston restaurant - this by far exceeds 90% of the “best” restaurants in Boston. My friends and I three hours after leaving were still saying - wow that was the most amazing meal I think I’ve ever had.
First time there, everyone enjoyed their dishes. Service was very welcoming and attentive. Will return.
Good food. Portions are a bit small for some of the apps, but the branzino was perfect.
Starters were really small for the price that you are paying. Food came quickly though. Cocktails were good. The noise level was pretty high, so it became difficult to hear.
Staff were very kind and attentive - food is just amazing and their wine list is terrific. Can't wait to go back.
