My favourite restaurant in the country. Always outstanding, original flavours, local produce and fantastic staff. Due to Covid, I haven’t been for two years but Guy remembered my name and was so welcoming. I’ve been eating here for over twenty years!

Brilliant staff and gorgeous food

Evening meal to celebrate a Birthday. Perfect setting on open balcony, heaters very effective. Staff attentive, all food served was well presented and delicious. We would recommend the Porthminster Beach restaurant highly, thank you to all of the staff.

Fantastic location overlooking St Ives Bay, very relaxed atmosphere with dogs permitted in certain areas. The seafood on offer was varied and cooked to perfection. Very attentive service added to a great gastronomic experience.

High quality food and drink, all served by extremely friendly and helpful staff.
We've been dining at Porthminster Cafe for over 10 years (whilst holidaying in St Ives) and have never been disappointed.

An absolutely fabulous evening - on the terrace, watching the sun set. Divine food and wonderful service. Is there a better place to eat in Cornwall? I don't think so.

Having looked forward to our visit for weeks and based on past experience we were very surprised to be disappointed. I was served a half lobster which was very lacking in meat with nearly empty claws--the embarrassed waitress told us that it was a bad time in its maturity cycle and took a small amount from the bill. Perhaps a restaurant of this calibre for seafood should recognise not to put lobster on the menu at this time of year if this is so. Otherwise the lovely situation and charm of the staff made our visit a pleasant one. Prices were very much higher than on the website however.

Every time we visit Carbis Bay we walk along the coastal path to the Porthminster Cafe on the edge of St. Ives. This is probably our most favourite restaurant in the UK. We both had the monkfish curry which is always fantastic. Service was brilliant from a host of young, very bright and attentive waitresses. Would highly recommend a visit but nowadays you need to book as soon as you can to get a table. Best place to sit is in the open part of the restaurant where you can enjoy the seaview and fresh air.

Fantastic place .. we had a lunch table booked and requested a table outside on the Beautiful terrace and we wasn’t disappointed!! The staff were friendly and professional from the start.. we couldn’t ask for a better table in the September Sunshine right on the Beach Terrace … the food was fantastic and we can’t wait to visit again 10/10

Still a beautiful and great location to have a meal. Staff still great as always, starters and dessert were very good as well, but the Monkfish Curry main was no where near as good as it used to be and certainly not worth the money paid. The original Monkfish Curry was sensational and one of our all time favourite meals anywhwere. Still love this place, but would choose a different main course next time.

Excellent Food with a lovely view and very good staff

A beautiful restaurant in a wonderful setting. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely evening, they asked us several times if we would like the doors open or shut and didn’t rush us at all. We sat at the open terrace doors with a fabulous view over the bay. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion, the prices were a little high but well worth it for a special treat.

Recommended by our 1st class B&B hostess based in Liskeard, as her favourite place to eat in St Ives. She wasn't wrong! Locally farmed food cooked appetising delicious, to both look at and enjoy.
Not an inexpensive meal, but worth it for the quality and wine choices.

Even although we were early , suggested we sit outside and were served some drinks.
Server was pleasant.
Couldn’t fault the food . It was delicious in every way

We were disappointed with the limited menu, when the one thing most people would be ordering was not available, alternative offered but price raised, the posh fish and Chips unfortunately did not live up to the name given, 3 slabs of fried hash brown like.

Although the price of the food is above average the quality is excellent.
If you are a ‘foody’ and love fish this is the plaice 🐠 for you.
The location is wonderful.
The staff were attentive friendly and professional.
