   A disappointing meal after visiting back in 2021 when the food was excellent. Squid was tasteless, one of the mains had run out (at 7pm) and the hake was overpriced for what it was - just mediocre, one piece of chorizo and a few bits of spinach on the side. Bounty dessert overpowered with coconut froth, lacking toffee sauce on the sticky toffee pudding. We had looked forward to returning here, but won’t be rushing back. for what we paid for 3 people the food should be outstanding, not something I could make at home.

   We come to st Ives for a holiday each year and we always enjoy a meal at this Restaurant. It is our very favourite Restaurant!!!

   Hopefully this was a one off but everything bar the service and the wine list was absolutely terrible. Apart from a lacking menu ( x 2 Thai curries across the 7 options ??!! ) and a pan fried hake dish for £35 ??!! This evening there was no chef so the KP cooked !! Luckily we avoided potential shellfish poisoning because we sent our food back due to it either being under or over cooked. And the chips are oven chips !!! which I don't suppose isn't the norm. This place has gone downhill. A lack of standards and some greedy beggar thinking it's okay to keep taking people's hard earned money, irrespective of whether they are able to deliver the expected product. Shame on you Porthminster ... no excuses ... food should definitely NOT have been served this evening.

   Wonderful food, carefully cooked and excellently presented. We have been there a few times when visiting St. Ives and every time we have been wowed by the freshness and the amount of taste in the dishes. The atmosphere of the restaurant is dynamic, the conservatory just above the beach is also a super space to eat. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without being overbearing making it a really enjoyable experience. We shall certainly go again when we are back in St. Ives.

   A fabulous place to enjoy spectacular views and amazing food. We had the most delicious lunch including scallops, the squid (which I actually preferred to the scallops, which shows just how well the squid was done), linguine (yum) and two wonderful puddings (the deep fried banoffee pudding is heaven). The lady serving us was brilliant too; friendly and engaging. We loved the whole experience and can’t recommend the Porthminster Café highly enough.

   Whilst the scallops and hake were cooked very well we felt that given the cost of over £30 for hake and £15 for scallops that 3 scallops was mean and not providing any vegetables with the hair dish at over £30 was not looking after your diners. The dish was lacking “green” as a result and was missing something as a result. It was the sane with the 7 chips for fish and chips. We had to ask for more. The bounty pudding lacked sufficient amount of coconut in the taste. More melted chocolate base than coconut. Was looking forward to it but it wasn’t great. Sitting tables in the annexe rather than inside the restaurant in November lacked ambiance and it felt “off” walking through the restaurant to an empty annexe. Made us feel naughty or as if we had done something wrong to be put to the back of the annexe on our own. The waiting staff were very good.

   The location was excellent the waitress was friendly knowledgeable but we did experience a delay between courses and the food was of a reasonable standard not outstanding and was overpriced. We left having had a pleasant evening but a little disappointed and underwhelmed.

    We absolutely love the ambience here. We always get a heated pod and our children love that we’re eating looking out at the sea. Highly recommend x

    Lovely food and lovely service. The best experience would come sitting beach side. Scallops were lovely to start - but note you only get three so not one for if you are really hungry.

    Yet another beautiful meal here! The sharing platter was nice and the bake cassoulet and seafood linguine were both gorgeous. Whilst I was really full I did manage to sneak a couple of spoonfuls of hubby’s sticky toffee pudding with honeycomb, which was delicious. Would thoroughly recommend.

    The restaurant location directly on Porthminster beach is outstanding. We always opt for lunch so the beach is seen in the best light. The staff are friendly, highly efficient and unpretentious. The food is of the highest quality and prepared perfectly. The only slight critisism is that some of the startres do not really offer value for money, apart from that it is truly perfect.

    The most delicious dessert I have ever had and the scallops for starter were incredible. Highly recommended this is a wonderful place to eat. The views are stunning, the ambience is lovely and the food is exceptional.

    Can't fault the service or the food for quality. However, it is the priciest meal of our holiday and although we always leave a tip, it is nice to have the choice rather than have it added to your bill. As it was dark the location was a bit lost.

    We have been returning to Portminster Beach Cafe for many years and always try to get a table when visiting Hayle and St Ives. It never disappoints! Always incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. Amazing cooking and lovely, lovely local produce. Whoever thought up "deep fried banoffee pie" is a genius! Try it. It's amazing!

    We have been to the Beach Cafe many times but I do feel the price increases, Spartan furniture and good but unexceptional food make this now a four star rather than five star dining experience

    Wonderful meal served by a friendly team with great views. We went for a family meal. The restaurant has a section where you can sit with well behaved dogs and one with no dogs. We had scallops, which were first class, surf and turf and finished with sticky toffee pudding. The wine list (by the glass) was also very good. I would love to go again.
