Great food all together, enjoyed the berry cider but loved my Don Piero desert more! :) Exceptional service. Even though we had a large booking, the staff were kind for our troubles haha

This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant in a beautiful location, with great views and fabulous food. I would highly recommend it.

Excellent meal with attentive and prompt service. All food good but surprisingly the fish wings, a starter dish was really memorable.

Excellent food, fantastic view of the beach and sea. Friendly and helpful server. It was our wedding anniversary and we were presented with a glass of champagne each on the house.

We have been coming to the Porthminster cafe for many years and our original experience was outstanding. Since the original chef left, it has been patchy - sometimes good but sometimes really not good at all. Last year (2024) we though it had returned to its original creativity and deliciousness in particular fish dishes with interesting sauces but now the menu is more limited and for those who like sauces they are absent at the moment. I hope our experience last night was just a blip but it just wasn't great. We both had Oysters which were hot and from the description on the menu we though would have a light crispy batter but no, they were breadcrumbed and had been overcooked so there was a slight burnt taste. Not the way to cook Oysters. My partners Duck has quite a nice sauce but it was undercooked and rubbery and whilst duck should be pink it should not be red and it wasn't nice. He asked the waiter if it could be cooked a bit more but apparently that was not possible. He was hungry so he struggled through it although the waiter did offer to replace it with something else. My lobster with garlic butter was ok but a bit soft but a bit bland. The wine list is fine but it has become more expensive so we settled for not particularly nice Picpoul . The very nice waiter did offer my partner a free desert and took the service off but neither of us like our deserts very much and the whole bill still came to £169. Without doing that the bill would have been nearer to £200 and that is just not good value for the indifferent food we ate. Im really sad to write this review but I do hope the chef will sort out the standard of the food he is serving up and make the menu more creative. For that kind of money it needs to be outstanding.
