Our favourite eating place in St Ives. Food fresh and delicious and super staff. Hoping to return next year.
Fabulous dinner at Porthgwidden. Such a gorgeous place right on the beach. Very lucky to have a reservation before they sadly have to close next week.
Very friendly, felt like a regular on our first visit, good quality food and drink.
We had a lovely evening on holiday with a fabulous view
Fabulous and fabulous view
Great evening for our last meal in St Ives. Great location, great service, super friendly staff, great food. Super
Staff were attentive and still wearing their face coverings which was reassuring. This cafe has been one of our favourites over the years but on this years' visit the food did not hit the mark. The squid was not particulalry crispy as described and was average flavoure wise. The seafood linguine was a big disappointment and overpriced at £21.50. For this your got watery crab meat at the botttom of the dish, 3 prawns and 5 of the smallest meanest mussels I have ever seen - and one slightly mangled langoustine - a bit squashed and missing a claw. Presentation was poor - just plonked into a bowl with no thought to arranging it to show off the meagre shellfish. Having also eaten at Porthminster on this visit (part of the same group I think) I felt cheated on the mussel front - Porthminseter's were large, plump, meaty and sweet.
I did feedback to our server what I though of the linguine dish and she fed this back to the kitchen. They knocked the cost of 2 drinks off the bill, which was appreciated but really I would rather have had a better meal.
Lovely place away from the main crowds, super cute beach front. Fresh food and good wine choices. We’d definitely go back…
Great location, fabulous views over the beach. Food was very well presented and tasted fab.
Great covid controls and service
Crispy squid not crispy.
Vegetarian Indonesian curry poorly spiced.
Hake was cooked OK but only flavour was the pesto.
Even the gin and tonic was poor...I didn't finish it!
To be fair they were struggling for staff so it may just have been a bad night.
Relaxed atmosphere with fantastic food and beautiful views.
Staff were lovely and made the experience even better
Fantastic location by the beach and a little bit away from the hustle of downtown St Ives. Very friendly service and excellent food. One of my favourite lunchtime places during my week long trip to Cornwall.
Our second visit during our holiday and I requested a window seat that didn’t disappoint. Fabulous views to accompany excellent food and wine.
Nice food Great staff clean Great sea views been before I would come back
Been coming here for years during my holiday but felt that the choice of food options was very poor. Quality of the food seems to have declined. Will be looking for a new restaurant for future visits to st ives
Quality of food is not what it use to be. Bit disappointing.
Food was ok, service was ok, ambience was ok. Mains were technically prepared and presented properly but were just missing flavour or that je ne sais quoi. Maybe they can afford to coast on the magnificent location a bit. Also we visited at the tail end of what’s probably been a manic summer season so I wouldn’t blame the staff for being exhausted.
Cold flavourless food. Awful service. Unattended and unhelpful
Quality food and service. Good surroundings. Great warm welcoming.
Porthgwidden had overtaken Porthminster for service! An excellent evening. Thank you.
The food and location was fantastic
Had a nice dining experience. Food was great but was rushed off the table and asked to move to another not so nice one, so another couple could have the view (fair enough, but felt a bit abrupt). Felt like they could have done a bit more with the space, with the amazing view it had, but
We would not recommend this place the food and drinks are way over priced and 16 pounds for a burger that was cold and dry and 12 pound for a Bellini wish I’d looked at the price the service was very good but we won’t be returning there are lots of amazing restaurants in stives and this one is not good value for money at all
We had to make our booking six weeks prior to our holiday in St Ives, and thankfully was the only one we managed to obtain given that it is our favourite cafe / restaurant in St Ives. It was well worth the wait, and did not disappoint. The manager and staff were all really attentive - we had one of the best tables, the service was spot on, and the food delicious - house special of sole, and the seafood linguine simply stunning.
To top it all off - the manager has kindly re-jigged so that we can have another dining experience - fantastic as sadly the Squid was not available last time - but will be on our next visit!!
Absolutely loved this spot - stunning location and lovely staff! Just wish there was more vegetarian options but the food was delicious.
Very nice food with excellent friendly staff.
Really nice table with good distancing from others. Food was delicious as always.
This is our favourite place for dinner in St Ives, and didn’t disappoint.
Been eating here for 20 years on our annual pilgrimage to St Ives. Was our favourite spot in St Ives to eat. Food last night was very expensive and really poor. Fish and shellfish tasted old and tired. Starters were ordinary and £11. I know good chefs are hard to find in present covid/brexit times. Anywhere else this restaurant would be doomed.
We had a lovely late lunch here bank holiday weekend. We would definitely go back. Food was very nice though maybe not quite as good as I remember it being a few years back.
Amazing food with great view!
Fab meal in lovely surroundings, good food, good wine, friendly and attentive service all helped by beautiful weather and gorgeous views.
Beautiful setting, fabulous food, will definitely be returning!
Lovely ambience, delicious food and good wine list.
Excellent service, Food and wine. Love the views and the staff, the sardines were delicious!
Friendly staff. Fairly short menu but the food was delicious
This is an old favourite of ours. We have been coming for years. It’s such a fantastic location right on the beach. However the food didn’t quite live up to our expectations lacking flavour and seasoning. It was ok but nothing special even though we had the catch of the day. All restaurants are busy in St Ives at the moment and the staff were busy and reasonably efficient but they didn’t seem to care. Such a shame.
Beautiful setting with lovely ambience over looking porthwidden beach. gave. Food and service is first class.
As well as obviously having the most incredible views and great food, it was the all of the staffs friendliness and attention to detail that warrants them getting a 5* review. Each and everyone who works there was delightful to me and my children.
I think this is incredibly admirable given how busy St Ives is this summer, the ongoing stresses and strains of COVID and no doubt they will have encountered some ‘tricky’ customers over the season too.
We were greeted and served with smiles and loveliness.
Thank you Porthgwidden - we most certainly will be back!
Delicious food with a view of the beach. Anna was a nice server.
Amazing food with amazing views! Staff are super friendly and helpful. We will be visiting again as soon as we can!
Lovely lunch spot
