Nestled beneath the steep grassy slopes of St Ives “Island”, right on the beach with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Now open all year round for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty. The café is open daily for a selection of patisserie and the finest coffee.

We’ve been coming here for many years but not for two years. The quality of the food has declined dramatically and the choice for vegetarians is very limited. Only salads and not particularly good ones. The staff are friendly and the view is lovely but overall not worth paying for and we won’t be returning which is a great shame as it was one of our favourite places.

Absolutely fab evening, we were celebrating a 60th birthday and the staff made such a thing about our friends birthday it was so special, the food was excellent along with the service, what a fab view as well, highly recommend this restaurant and the mussels with frites superb thank you Porthgwidden Beach Cafe

My wife and her friend ordered crab sandwiches. They arrived without any attempt at presentation or side salad etc. The thickest sliced bread we had ever seen, roughly three inches overall. The bread was far from fresh and they both left more than half of it. I ordered fish and chips, again severe lack of effort with presentation. Chips thrown onto plate and what looked like a rectangular, frozen fish portion dumped on top. I would expect better at a motorway service area.

Well .. it was our 1st wedding anniversary & needless to say we had to go back to where we had our wedding breakfast mealy , only the two of us instead of the 3o one year ago this time round .. & what a joy ( cheaper too , lol ) , great views just as before & made relaxed .. quick catch up with 'Will' (plus others) & food ordered , service although a different waitress was second to none .. amazing food & 1st steak since being in town for the week , excellent perfectly cook & the lemon sole too . Wined Dined & Reminisced , fab evening & we'll be going back for sure ... why shouldn't we the food alone is enough.

Mixed experience. Some of the food was very good but some was very basic. Table service was amazing but the greeting was all about giving the table back. The venue is nice and relaxed and on the beach. Many other places to try in St Ives so not likely to return.

Porthgwidden Beach Café is so much more than ‘just’ a beach cafe. It’s a lovely resturant serving delicious food, all served with smiles and as though nothing is too much trouble. Would strongly suggest booking and if you are lucky enough to get a sea view watch out for the seals!
