The food was very good. Portions were good - not skimpy but not huge. Presentation was very pleasing. Servers were attentive and friendly but didn't hover. Prices are on the high side for what you get ($300+ for 3 adults) but I guess we were expecting that. Tables were spaced to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions and all employees wore masks. The steaks were cooked to the doneness requested and those who ordered them said they were delicious. Salmon was also cooked to the requested doneness and was delicious although it could have used more of the lemon beurre blanc sauce. The added lobster tail was on the underdone side. Fried calamari appetizer was tender, lightly breaded and golden. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was 8 large shrimp and delicious. Desserts of creme brule and chocolate cake were delicious as well.
Dinner was great w/spectacular service! Breakfast was ok, but I was told they ran out of orange juice at 930am! It’s a package deal for me at breakfast, fresh juice & good coffee. Coffee was NOT good, it had the taste & texture of crude oil. I drink mine black w/a teaspoon of honey. Find another coffee vendor and I was staying at The George too!
Food cold
Stark and bright dinning/uncomfortable
Eager waiter/could take notes from the Republic steak house CSAT
It has become our favorite College Station Spot. COVID prep done perfect without getting in you way. Love heading to the bar early for a Cadillac Margarita. Staff is well trained and if you are a repeat customer .. they have briefed themself on your prior visit and desires. The new bone in NY strip was a wonderful steak addition .. aged and flavorful. We were also reassured that the cornbread is staying!!
Good place, ate in the bar. Service was great, a bit crowded but not too loud. Food was very good, a favorite place. Make sure you get their cornbread they give it out instead of bread....great cornbread. I got there for the cornbread!!
Great place for date night. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back
The good was okay but don’t expect what you see on the online menu. We came wanting oysters and redfish...both weren’t on the menu. Not impressed with the wine menu or the special cocktails. And the service was all off.... it took forever to get our drinks but our food came way too fast. Timing is everything.
We made the wrong choice for dinner. Chucken fried steak was not good and priced about 3x too high. Loaded mashed potatoes were only slighlty warm. Paud $130 for what should have been $50 meal for two.
As always, food, drink and service were great. Parking still the thing that keeps us and many of our friends from coming more often.
Raining and 48 degrees. No valet. $6 to park while standing in the drizzle for several minutes because the automated pay station computer was defective. Again.
Porters competitors don’t have that problem
Nice and special Christmas Eve Dinner
We were on a Christmas date. I ordered the pork chop and it was overly charred, and could taste it; sent it back! I Ordered the scallops, and Mercy, it had NO flavor, wasn’t seared well (at all),and just wasn’t good. I had them box it up so I could take it home and re-cook them. I really hate to say it, this was a bad experience for us! The service was good from a pleasant TAMU Aggie!! He was cordial, engaging & pleasant! The food, well, let’s say, we were disappointed!! 😩
Always a great meal and an amazing bottle of wine.
The service was outstanding! I was disappointed in the quality of the steaks. They were tough and dry! I expected much better for the price. All the other food was outstanding. I would not get the steaks the next time.
The food was excellent as always. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. Looking forward to our next dining experience at Porters.
We really enjoyed the food and the service was incredible both at the bar and the table
We were celebrating our daughter's graduation from TAMU and had lunch with filets, some drinks, and choc cake for dessert. Everything was exemplary except the steaks could have been hotter temp-wise.
Celebrated two birthdays and a graduation rolled in one. Not only did our server blow us away with exemplary service, but the food, drinks, and ambiance were perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better dinner and it was even more impressive that it was during busy graduation and COVID. I would highly recommend Porters.
Great service, food as good as you could ask. Terrific options for meat on the menu, anad excellent special the night I dined there.
Went for Brunch after graduation ceremony. We had an 11am reservation which was opening time. The service was outstanding. Our waiter recommended a cocktail which was delicious. We ordered the Salmon Salad and burger. Everyone raved about there food.
Anniversary
Porters is a great place to visit. The atmosphere is great. They were out of two types of whiskey my husband wanted; however, the server made up for it by an AMAZING wine choice that is served only in that location in the BCS area. The GIANT wine doors gave the employees a hard time opening them every time (big time struggle). We celebrated out 23 wedding anniversary and we will go back for sure!
The food was excellent
Little difficult to located the restaurant, kinda cool inside, but the service and food were excellent
Great place and great food!!! Highly recommend making this a regular stop
After being locked-up in our house for 14 day this was the first place we wanted to go.
Great meal and our server, Dane, was delightful. Enjoyed our evening there as we always do.
Noisy near the kitchen.
Overall wonderful experience!
A few things were messed up in my order, repeatedly.
Steak was great but really surprised they don’t serve sautéed mushrooms. We’ve been going for 3 years and always ask for mushrooms. Even the waitress last night said she was asked that 3 times that evening.
Place was busy but hostess seated us early.
Server,Matthew was very knowledgeable and helpful.
We had a nice leisurely meal without feeling rushed even though it was a football weekend.
Scallops were nicely prepared. Sides are generous. Even the house salad was a generous portion.
upscale quiet with very crispy calamary. very nice and spread out dinning table.
First time and we will be back. Loved the atmosphere and food. Fancy feel but also relaxing.
We shared the Prime Steak Tacos, followed by my wife having the Chicken Fried Steak and I had the burger. The Chicken Fried Steak accompanied by mash potatoes and green beans was excellent! My burger was not just a normal burger, but with steak trimmings and a homemade bun! They brought a Creme Brulee for my wife and her birthday that made her eyes roll back in her head!
We love Porters!
From the moment we arrived things were not going smoothly. I booked a 7:15pm reservation so that way we could avoid a dinner rush and not have to stand around. However, we arrived right at 7:15pm and had to wait another 10-15 minutes in order for our table to be cleaned. This forced us to go sit at the bar which isn’t a big deal but in my mind it begs the question why did we even bother with a reservation. Then upon sitting down we were paired with a sub par waitress that really ruined the experience honestly. There was no enthusiasm or even a simple laugh, the entire time we felt rushed to eat and hurry up and leave. Starting out dinner, when we received our cornbread, we were only halfway through with the skillet and our waitress walks up without saying a word. She reaches and grabs all our plates and utensils then walks off. Only to return when our order of wine from the bar was ready which seemed like a sampler size from Olive Garden. Then we proceeded to order our plates where it just felt like we were not welcomed. I was asked about upgrading my steak to a dry aged $75 steak that “I probably have never experienced before” and that the $50 steak I ordered probably wasn’t the same. Also, a heads up about the steaks; they don’t come with any sides at all so be prepared to consider sharing sides or you can order extra. Then the entire time we ate it seemed like almost every 5 minutes we were asked if we were done eating. I’m not some entitled person that expects my server to walk on their hands and knees for me. However, when there’s no enthusiasm, smile, or sincerity shown that’s where I have a problem. It felt like we were just another bill paid at the end of the night instead of a welcoming experience. Don’t get me wrong the food was great but the service was completely lacking to complete a great experience. I’ve lived in the area for half my life and would recommend Christopher’s World Grille and Casa Do Brasil before coming here. Dinner was eaten on 10/17
Great place to celebrate a special occasion or to enjoy the Sunday brunch. The cuisine is excellent, the service is good and the ambiance is one of the best in t the area. Highly recommended.
It was my girlfriend’s birthday! Food was great
The best place in College Station for fine wining and dining, with a nice bar area to go with it!
Great food and service! Food was some of the best in town-
