The food is absolutely delicious, probably the best pork chop I’ve ever had and the quail legs are incredibly addictive. The service is amazing, very nice people who know the menu really well and will not give you a bad recommendation.
Porters is one of our favorite spots. Always great service and consistent delicious food!
Food excellent, service remarkable
This is about the 4th time we've eaten at Porter's and they are consistently below average. It is only because of the "convenient" factor that we've given them this many chances and the fact that CSTAT doesn't have a lot of choices when it comes to good steak houses. We didn't have a server the first 10 minutes we were there. Apparently, the servers didn't know whose table it was. The steaks were overcooked and the salmon was super dry. Unless it's for a glass of wine, we will not be dining there again.
When you send your filet back because you asked for medium and got rare, make sure they don't just burn the outside. If a meat isn't cooked well enough and it is sent back, it needs a lower heat to cook the inside without burning the outside. I was pretty surprised that they just tried to cook it more at a high heat. The end result was a rare filet with a crispy crust.
The wait staff was excellent. Really expected the food to be a little bit better quality. The establishment was very clean and maintained. Enjoyed it for the most part. I will go back and try something different to see if it may have been just an off night.
Amazing food and super sweet waitress we were in and out within one hour we arrived 15 min before our 8:45 pm Valentine’s Day package with The George people on both sides of us were drinking alcohol and were in their places before we arrived and after we left. Drinkers were loader than know, and it is not the fault of the restaurant.
I had the filet, my wife had the porkchop. Both were delicious! Waitstaff was excellent, too.
It was a great experience
Porters was amazing! The food was wonderful - pork chop to die for! The service was quick, friendly & efficient. Well stocked wine list. Highly recommend
The value and food overall was just average. Our party had two filets, which were outstanding. But another had a ribeye that was extremely thin and not well-cooked -- very disappointing for a premier steakhouse. The service was just OK ... we did not feel valued for the price of the overall experience.
We had an amazing experience and we're very happy from the time we walked in the door. Our waiter, Samantha did an outstanding job and was very attentive to making sure we had an outstanding experience. I was thrilled when the special of the day was scallops! I was not disappointed, they were perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the 8 oz stead and it was a perfect medium rare. Thank you for making our dining experience!
Outstanding as always! Best service ever. Porters has become our tradition when we come to College Station!
Nice place and I would definitely go back the bartenders were a bit inexperienced but were happy to serve.
Nice steakhouse with superb filets! Staff is awesome!
Great customer service!
Great experience! Excellent service. Follow strict COVID protocol
Sam was our server and he recommended the perfect wine for our budget. He was pleasant, prompt and informative about the menu! The food was savory and fresh. We were thrilled to have the oysters as an appetizer. We’ll be back!
Contemporary Venue. Nice. Not a big menu, but good. Service was friendly.
Great food and good atmosphere for a family that likes a good steak
Porters is affiliated with the George and nearly attached to the hotel making it a quick and decent quality dining option. This visit was during the COVID pandemic so unfortunately their menu was a bit limited but still present were their wood fired steaks and other staples. They have good drinks, a great ambience and a high level of service for the College Station area (hey, it's a college town what can I say). It is also a great location for parties (once we can do that again) with some cool group rooms they can use. Go check them out!
Great great!! Our food was excellent as well as our waiter!!Highly recommend this restaurant!
Food was excellent. Really enjoyed the Chicken Fried steak. Service was very good. After eating at steakhouses in D/FW, the price was very reasonable.
We have eaten at Porters before. Unfortunately the brisket was too fatty this time. The coleslaw and potato salad wasn’t seasoned as well as before. The filet was perfect. So was the Brussels sprouts and house salads.
The Porter's experience is nearly flawless. The staff understand superior service and aim to deliver it. It is an elegant meal, in an unpretentious environment. We loved every minute.
Food is amazing!! Service was great and the environment was relaxing!
Love this place!! It’s always a wonderful evening with exceptional service
Absolutely fabulous in every way! Can’t believe we waited so long to try them. Will be back!
Attentive and friendly waiter, Hunter. Food and drinks were excellent!
Steak was perfect and great margaritas. N
The food was very good. Portions were good - not skimpy but not huge. Presentation was very pleasing. Servers were attentive and friendly but didn't hover. Prices are on the high side for what you get ($300+ for 3 adults) but I guess we were expecting that. Tables were spaced to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions and all employees wore masks. The steaks were cooked to the doneness requested and those who ordered them said they were delicious. Salmon was also cooked to the requested doneness and was delicious although it could have used more of the lemon beurre blanc sauce. The added lobster tail was on the underdone side. Fried calamari appetizer was tender, lightly breaded and golden. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was 8 large shrimp and delicious. Desserts of creme brule and chocolate cake were delicious as well.
Dinner was great w/spectacular service! Breakfast was ok, but I was told they ran out of orange juice at 930am! It’s a package deal for me at breakfast, fresh juice & good coffee. Coffee was NOT good, it had the taste & texture of crude oil. I drink mine black w/a teaspoon of honey. Find another coffee vendor and I was staying at The George too!
Food cold
Stark and bright dinning/uncomfortable
Eager waiter/could take notes from the Republic steak house CSAT
It has become our favorite College Station Spot. COVID prep done perfect without getting in you way. Love heading to the bar early for a Cadillac Margarita. Staff is well trained and if you are a repeat customer .. they have briefed themself on your prior visit and desires. The new bone in NY strip was a wonderful steak addition .. aged and flavorful. We were also reassured that the cornbread is staying!!
Good place, ate in the bar. Service was great, a bit crowded but not too loud. Food was very good, a favorite place. Make sure you get their cornbread they give it out instead of bread....great cornbread. I got there for the cornbread!!
Great place for date night. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back
The good was okay but don’t expect what you see on the online menu. We came wanting oysters and redfish...both weren’t on the menu. Not impressed with the wine menu or the special cocktails. And the service was all off.... it took forever to get our drinks but our food came way too fast. Timing is everything.
We made the wrong choice for dinner. Chucken fried steak was not good and priced about 3x too high. Loaded mashed potatoes were only slighlty warm. Paud $130 for what should have been $50 meal for two.
As always, food, drink and service were great. Parking still the thing that keeps us and many of our friends from coming more often.
Raining and 48 degrees. No valet. $6 to park while standing in the drizzle for several minutes because the automated pay station computer was defective. Again.
Porters competitors don’t have that problem
