Cornbread Battered French Toast
sweet cornbread battered French toast garnished with an assortment of fresh berries, vanilla honey syrup, and whipped cream
From the moment we arrived things were not going smoothly. I booked a 7:15pm reservation so that way we could avoid a dinner rush and not have to stand around. However, we arrived right at 7:15pm and had to wait another 10-15 minutes in order for our table to be cleaned. This forced us to go sit at the bar which isn’t a big deal but in my mind it begs the question why did we even bother with a reservation. Then upon sitting down we were paired with a sub par waitress that really ruined the experience honestly. There was no enthusiasm or even a simple laugh, the entire time we felt rushed to eat and hurry up and leave. Starting out dinner, when we received our cornbread, we were only halfway through with the skillet and our waitress walks up without saying a word. She reaches and grabs all our plates and utensils then walks off. Only to return when our order of wine from the bar was ready which seemed like a sampler size from Olive Garden. Then we proceeded to order our plates where it just felt like we were not welcomed. I was asked about upgrading my steak to a dry aged $75 steak that “I probably have never experienced before” and that the $50 steak I ordered probably wasn’t the same. Also, a heads up about the steaks; they don’t come with any sides at all so be prepared to consider sharing sides or you can order extra. Then the entire time we ate it seemed like almost every 5 minutes we were asked if we were done eating. I’m not some entitled person that expects my server to walk on their hands and knees for me. However, when there’s no enthusiasm, smile, or sincerity shown that’s where I have a problem. It felt like we were just another bill paid at the end of the night instead of a welcoming experience. Don’t get me wrong the food was great but the service was completely lacking to complete a great experience. I’ve lived in the area for half my life and would recommend Christopher’s World Grille and Casa Do Brasil before coming here. Dinner was eaten on 10/17
Great place to celebrate a special occasion or to enjoy the Sunday brunch. The cuisine is excellent, the service is good and the ambiance is one of the best in t the area. Highly recommended.
It was my girlfriend’s birthday! Food was great
The best place in College Station for fine wining and dining, with a nice bar area to go with it!
Great food and service! Food was some of the best in town-
Great selection of food at reasonable prices. The bar at Porter's is fun and really nice too. Porters is currently is my favorite place to wine & dine in College Station!
Great place with really good food - make sure to ask about the wines they have available off menu.
Great service! Delicious food in a wonderful ambiance!
Nice ambiance. Good location next to The George hotel. Upscale dining and service. Steaks, pork chops and Scallops all cooked perfectly and delicious. Brussels sprouts were very good too. A nice place to go out for a fine dining experience in College Station.
Great brunch. Bananas Foster pancakes were fabulous.
Excellent service, great Sunday brunch, highly recommended 👍
Isabell provided great service. The food was excellent!
The filet was exceptional, the salmon was perfect, and the atmosphere was beautiful for a relaxed birthday dinner.
Like the restaurant. Decor is really nice. Sides were great. My streak was ok hut the ribeye was great. Would definitely go hack
Excellent food and service in a fine dining atmosphere!
It was an all around fantastic experience! It’s now our college station favorite restaurant.
The food was amazing and the service was spot on. I definitely recommend dining here.
Beautiful dining experience. Our servers were prompt and professional and made sure we were provided with whatever we needed.
The food was terrible. The salmon was extremely fishy tasting and the steak was tough, dry, overcooked, and tasted very bland with way too much salt. For a restaurant that uses that boasts a wood fired grill there was no flavor development from the wood and honestly you wouldn’t have known if you weren’t told. The prices were high as I expected for a steakhouse, but they are higher than other steakhouses in the area and the food quality was much lower than others in the area. The restaurant was decently noisy, not distracting, but also not quiet. The ambience is very modern and has wine racks everywhere and wooden themes throughout. I may have come on a bad night, but it was certainly not a good experience when I went and I would not recommend it to anyone.
The steak was great. But the brisket was almost inedible. Overall the rest of the food was average at best. The service was great and the restaurant and bar decor were nice.
Great food, great service, and a wonderful ambiance for enjoying fine dining in College Station.
Great experience professional
Who puts garlic in breakfast scrambled eggs?
Justin made us feel so welcomed and offered the best service!!
Fantastic night as usual!
While our food (especially the sides) were not very hot, everything was delicious. We wolfed down everything from appetizers to dessert. They also make an excellent martini. Will definitely be back again.
Excellent service & food!
Fantastic food, great service!
We had a wonderful experience at Porters celebrating our 15th anniversary!
always a good experience, love the cornbread with the dinner, just great. Never had a bad experience there.
It was a great experience! I went with my wife for our first anniversary. I really appreciated the drinks available and the effort that went into crafting some of the classic cocktails they offered. Our steaks were excellent and we were very satisfied.
Wonderful evening - great food - felt safe with the significant physical distancing of tables and all wait staff wearing masks
Great food, great people, and great place to be!
The food has taken a huge hit in quality. Not worth the charged price.
A treat for weekend brunch - even with Covid restrictions we enjoyed the brunch menu and our time together.
Went to Porter's to celebrate Father's Day. I ordered the pork chop, and it was delicious! It also was HUGE. Brussel Sprouts also are delicious. We had them as one of our appetizers...so yummy!
Best steak tacos! Had them as appetizers and loved it so much that I had another order as my meal! Husbands ribeye was perfect & the corpse revivers were legit 🔥
The copper river salmon was outstanding!
