The Porterhouse in Temple Bar opened in 1996 as Dublin's first pub brewery. Ireland then (and now, arguably) was a beer desert and being the cheeky chappies that we are, we managed to gain maximum publicity by naming a beer Weiserbuddy (you'd be a wiser buddy to drink this beer) and Probably, the best lager in the world.
This created much amusement and threatened litigation from some of the biggest players
in the drinks industry. Indeed amongst the publican fraternity, bets were taken as to how long a bar could last without mainstream beers. Well, all these years later we are still producing some of the best beers you will ever taste.
If you think about it, it's not rocket science. Give the public some great beers to taste that we brew ourselves, the largest selection in Ireland of world classic beers and on top of that a healthy dollop of great live music, 7 nights a week. Traditional music sessions at the weekends and when you get hungry, some of the finest pub grub in Ireland.

I booked a big table on the last night in Dublin of my Italian friends. They loved the food and the drinks, enjoyed the environment, and will have a good memory of their last day in Ireland. Thanks also for accommodating the request to anticipate the booking to an earlier time and give the kids the opportunity to join us.

Food was gorgeous . The staff were so nice very helpful went out of their way to make it a fantastic night in particular Brian the manager such a nice guy . Would defo return highly recommend .

We pre-booked the table with instructions to be able to watch formula 1 on TV. All was great including the food. Service was good also . Would go back again
