Wonderful dinner! Steaks are pricy but good. Beautiful views of Central Park
Great, friendly service. Excellent food — fillet mignon and lobster was superb. Decent value, not cheap but not overwhelmingly expensive. Would certainly recommend if you’re looking for a vibrant place to get a good steak. Not an old school joint but a fantastic place for steaks nonetheless
Porter House is always on point, always phenomenal in every aspect that matters: service, food, knowledge of staff.
I go here for every special occasion and frankly The Cowboy Rib Steak here is the best I’ve had out of any country or city I’ve ever traveled to and trust me I’ve had steak in many. It’s hands down and without a doubt the most flavorful and pristinely prepared piece of meat on planet earth.
Trust me. Make the trip here. Have the Rib Steak, change your life forever.
Also- get to know the staff, they are welcoming knowledgeable and experts at what they do.
Didn’t get requested quiet table. Service was slower , Burt friendly . Dover sole sub optimal.
Just wish the kitchen/the cooks could prepare and serve steaks like they do at Keens or even Old Homestead. Porter House throws a pat of herb butter on top but, unfortunately that doesn't make up for the better cut of steak that these other older, more famous steakhouses serve their customers.
Service and ambiance are exemplary at PH, however. Clean, crisp environment with drop dead views that Keens and Old Homestead will never have.....but, in the end, is that why we go to steak places...for the view?
It's the company we keep and take with us and the joy of having big, juicy, mouth-watering steaks. Porter House misses each and every time.
I value customer service above all and we were given top notch during our recent visit. Food was excellent, seating and the view was wonderful. We have no complaints and look forward to returning again!
Great location, Excellent service and perfect food. The truffle mashed potatoes are to die for!
We always have a great meal at Porter House bar and Grill. The service team is always outstanding. The deserts are so large you need to share!! We normally do not get a seat near the windows so that is always disappointing. Even in the main restaurant it can get noisy. But the main meals, apps, drinks, wine, desert, service team always make us come back. Thanks,
Everything I had hoped for for a perfect birthday lunch. Chris (our waiter) was attentive and helpful. Food was delicious and perfectly prepared.
Wonderful food & Service.
Over-rated. Service off & no very classy. Food average in quality/taste
Never disappoints. Great meal, great service, great park view.
The best meal we had on vacation by far! Enjoyed every part of this experience and can't wait to return soon! Excellent service by entire staff and the food was incredible!
We went for lunch and the restaurant was busy. The salads we had as starters were good and about the correct size .The steaks we had were perfectly cooked and delicious. The waitress was efficient and friendly bearing in mind very busy.
Will definitely come back .
Awesome food, big serving size, great steaks! Must try!
The food was incredible. The drinks were perfectly made as well. Wait staff was helpful and friendly and very nice. Great evening all around.
I’m sure everyone’s experience with every restaurant isn’t the same. But I came to PH to celebrate a birthday. And this place did not disappoint, the food and service was stellar! Would definitely come back, would recommend this place to everyone.
Porter House is consistently wonderful.
Porter House is an oasis of beauty, quiet elegance and charm, amidst the bustling city below, featuring one-of-a-kind views, delicious food and impeccable service.
Great experience. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. First time having the Niçoise salad. Great to have a variety of non-steak items at a steak house. Last time I had the roasted chicken and it was amazing-crispy skin, juicy and the pan gravy was sublime! The best restaurant in NYC!
outstanding as usual; a family favorite and often requested!
filet mignon and risotto the best I ever had👍👍👋👋
I invited an important client to a diner at this restaurant and the client was very happy with wine, foods service staff and the ambience. This is the restaurant I keep for the best option.
I had high hopes for porterhouse because it had been named one of the best steak places in nyc. The dining room is absolutely beautiful and we were seated next to a Window with a great view of the city. The food was just ok. I could tell the steak was very high prime quality and it was cooked good. Not perfect but good. The flavor was almost there. The black truffle mash potatoes were enough for one person. Not enough to split and they were expensive. Didn’t really wow me. We got passed off from our original server because some larger tables came in who were spending a lot more money than us. We were taken care of but at a place this expensive I felt the attention to service could have been a little better. Overall it was good but have had much better steaks at places outside nyc. Location is awesome and I didn’t walk away disappointed with my meal I just wasn’t blown away with it. If you are close to this place at dinner time it’s worth it but I wouldn’t drive all the way across the city to get there.
It wasn’t planned in advance somvery happy to be accommodated. The restaurant was very crowded and the food was very good. The sky was amazing with a beautiful sunset so the window seats were lucky
Well executed streak house staples. Yes it is a bit expensive but the quality is superior as is the service.
I have a hard time funding really good steak restaurants and I’ve found the one. We had both steak and fish and they were both delicious. The steak was supreme, juicy, tasty, tender and just excellent. Very good if you can afford it.
The location ad the atmosphere is fine. The service was great. Polite and informel in a good way. The siden very very good. I can highly recommend the risotto. We had a porterhouse, a Cote d'bouef and a New York Strip Steak. The meat was good - but not great. To be honest I have had more tender meat at cheaper restaurants. I would have expected a little more
As usual a very nice dinner at Porterhouse. Bone Marrow is fantastic. Steaks are super.
Porter House is simply the best steakhouse and one of the best restaurants in NYC. Amazing food, professional service and gorgeous surroundings combine for a memorable meal every time. While it's named for steak, all the food is superb.
I highly recommend Porter House for lunch or dinner,.
This was an incredible meal! We came for lunch and had the prix fix. The caesar salad, petite filets, and desserts were all high quality and delicious! I would love to come back for dinner!
Had a delicious prefixed lunch the Caesar salad it was absolutely amazing, the petite fillet mignon cooked to perfection and the cheesecake was enough to serve five people I would go back there in a heartbeat
The food was great. Price was reasonable for the location and quality.
The waiter was decent.
The issue was we loved the carrotts so much and ordered another side dish of them. We finished our meal and they cleared the table and brought us new plates for the carrots. When the food runner brought the carrots he made a comment to the waiter. Then the hostest came by to look at the table. Then the manager came by to talk to our waiter in front of us about the carrots. They thought we went for dinner had only ordered carrots. It was embarssaing. We had a full dinner with wine before. I told the waiter to tell the manager that next time he should talk to his staff away from where the customer can over hear. It really ruined our experience at this place. Would not go back.
Prie Fixe Lunch Meal is the best deal in NYC with ambiance, great meal and a view.
Food and wine list were enjoyable. The service was belligerent. Had a second waiter appear who was, remarkably, as bad or worse. No thank you. Won't be back.
Lived in NYC for 10 yrs before moving to Boston, came back for weekend and as PHS was close I gave it a shot. I am a steak snob, been to most every steak house in NYC, but never PHS. Ok.
Had early dinner at 6:15- it's a big place, it's not romantic, it's loud. To loud for me, and to many young kids, on the night we went. Even without them, it's Uncle Jack's louder. Service was to fast, our very nice waitress actually noticed the apps fly in and out and helped us slow it down. You seen to have a few waiters. Anyway everyone polite , pleasant reguardless. We started with trying to find a bottle at 100.00 or less... The sommelier is helpful.. found a Cap.- Napa Valley for 100.00. Emblem.
Next my wife and I both ordered shrimp Cocktail- the 4 shrimp are huge, suggest you split that order. We did split a Ceaser Salad , that was excellent , enough for 2. Next up- Filet Mignon .. I like Med Rare, but after discription ordered medium.. she likes med , order med well. Both came out excellent although I like a little more char. My bad for not specifing. Either way I give it a 3.9-4.0.. It's a good steak, my ranking is not easy. Also got mashed Yukon Potatoes, good.
Overall very satisfied with dinner and service.
Finally- would I go back. No. Why, to loud, to big, to expensive - dinner for 2 with 20%was 420.00. I get it's NYC, but Club A on 58th 2/3 is better value and a LOT more romantic and not as loud.
So final rank is 3.9 to solid 4..very convenient if you like steak and going to a show.
The meats are simply not worth the price-
This is a lovely restautant with very nice service but the
for the price the beef should be top notch and it is not-
We’ve been dining at Porterhouse for 5-6 years now and we’ve never been disappointed. We’ve had most of their cuts of beef, each unique, always expertly cooked and seasoned, and they’ve consistently been outstanding. This time we had the cote de boeuf - rare - and it was like velvet! The sides are excellent as well (hash browns are awesome, wild mushrooms delectable), and the wine list had a good range of options in terms of taste and affordability. The service also stands out: even when we visit with our young son the front staff and wait staff have always been gracious and accommodating, and never overbearing. Value-wise, it’s on the expensive side (hence 1 star off), but I’d suggest this for a great night out with guaranteed excellent food, ambiance, and service.
Very nice place, chic casual. beautifull view on Columbus circle and the area. Good service, expensive but this is New York... nice wine list with outrageous prices.. good meat. Awfull cooking smell wich doesnt fit with the standard expected in this kind of restaurant.
