Yet again: Wonderful place for a night out. Great food, service and ambience. And as prices rise everywhere, not quite the splurge it used to be. Do it!
Never disappoints. Always great food, great service and amazing wine selection.
My guests from overseas enjoyed the foods. wines and the ambience.
I had the filet mignon, daughter had New York strip steak, both were excellent. All staff members were highly polite and helpful. We went to the restaurant in the evening; atmosphere was super elegant ( modern take on the traditional steakhouse decor) Note that if you want to sit directly by the Windows ( with a great view ) you should have a party of 4. ( the smaller… party of 2 tables are not right by the Windows )
Also: The wines available by the glass were top notch.
Delicious ! Superb quality of food ! The service was excellent and we had a beautiful view. Highly recommend !
Foods are delicious but service is not so good. There are lots of restaurant with fully polite and kind staff in NY.
Outstanding ...and fun... as always...............
Have been going to Porter House for years and have always had a terrific experience!
We had a wonderful time and the service was excellent.
Porter House is one of those charmed places where you can leave your judgmental attitudes at home, because nothing is going to be the least bit troublesome while you're there. Food, service, and ambience all optimal. Every time.
Great service, lovely place, all good except I didn't think the NY strip was up to the usual standards. Fantastic appetizers and sides but for whatever reason the steak wasn't 10/10 as it usually is. Not bad enough to send back, but not what I'm used to there.
Loved the burger and the porter house.
It's a beautiful setting but the expensive steaks simply don't match it. A ribeye here should not be priced where a prime rib (king's cut, no less) is at Keens; it's a lesser cut of meat and the kitchen knows this. That's the playing fair with patrons who are trying to keep restaurants open and thriving, is it? Filet mignon is marred with a large pat of butter....OK so far...but with too heavy a dose of tarragon in it -- definitely NOT an obvious herb for filet mignon: Bearnaise, peppercorn, au jus, Chimichurri, garlic -- all delicious and typical toppings but the pungent taste of tarragon? Yes there are recipes calling for it but most diners are going to associate it with fish and chicken, not steak. Back to the ribeye: a steak place, especially given what Porter House charges, should know the difference between medium and medium-rare. Yes, we could have sent it back
but you can't unmake a medium; it gets tossed and that's a horrendous thing to do with any meal. But with tip and tax that single piece of ribeye cost us $96....highway robbery no matter how you slice it! And, sadly, we have only ourselves to blame because pre-Covid, well before this 16 months of restaurant closures and partial openings, in the "good ole days" this was exactly the same problem at Porter House.....a beautiful setting marred by sub par steaks coming out of the kitchen. Why this hasn't been addressed earlier must be the continual march of tourists through their dining room and a sense that "we have to like this; look at what we're paying for it" thinking. Keens, Quality Meats do it far better.
Excellent steak house with unparalleled view of Central Park. Fine service by very professional wait staff. Noteworthy wine list.
This is the best steakhouse in NYC.
Classy, Professional staff - I'm so glad they are back post pandemic.
Birthday celebration- it was great!
An occasion, as always. .........................
This was my most pleasant dining experience ever. The food was superb, even though we were one of the last dinners before the kitchen closed. Delectable scallops, melt in your mouth Ribeye, outstanding wines. And the service by Mark and Rutilio (the Somm) was impeccable.
Definitely the best steakhouse in New York, tarting from the incredible service, clearly the steaks and the main courses are awesome even the sides are delicious. And lastly the coconut cake dessert is fantastic. This restaurant is a 11/10 for me
Best steakhouse in nyc
Absolutely my favorite steakhouse in New York City, amazing food, service, and ambiance. Top of the top.
Almost every celebration in my life in NYC in the past fifteen years including my wedding reception has been at Porter House. It was a delicious delight to return for a visit and a lovely dinner. Still stunning and a delight!
We love Porter House! The food, service and ambience always excellent!
Wonderful atmosphere and food. I strongly recommend
So glad they are back open. One of the best wine lists in NYC, Adam does an exceptional job
The service and food were outstanding. Thanks for the double bloody Mary’s!
So glad they're back after the pandemic. We usually go a few times a year for special occasions and always on our anniversary, which the make it extra special. The staff is always so engaging and makes us feel as if we're life long friends. Food... no words! Always delicious and tastes even better the next day.
Looking forward to our next visit!
Incredible atmosphere and delicious food (with top notch service to match) at this upscale NYC steakhouse. A special occasion must! Prices are steep, but it's so worth the splurge as the steaks, sides and appetizers are delicious (NY Strip steak, onion rings and crab cakes are essential options.....and don't forget the coconut cake to finish the meal).
Celebrating / birthdays, I took my niece & her boyfriend to Porterhouse. We had a very memorable dinner. From the champagne toast we proceeded to starters: the bone marrow for me and west coast oysters and the steak tartare for my guests. All of it delicious and well seasoned.
My niece & I both had the filet mignonette as entrees, and
Her bf had the skirt steak. All were tender, cooked perfectly and tasty. The sautéed mushrooms and the fried onion rings were the perfect accompaniments to the steaks. Being diabetic I had the cheese plate for dessert and my guests the coconut cake. The service was excellent! I’ll be back soon!
Always reliable, great service, best steak in NYC. Try for a window table.
Gracious and timely. Capable of large party accommodation and did well to manage our time constraints.
Excelente food, wine and service. I will recommend to everybody.
Outstanding as usual Love it. Service impeccable.!
Wonderful dinner for a Saturday night in NYC. Service excellent and table service of the main dish was skillfully presented. Well done PHBG!
I love Porter House.
Porter House never disappoints. Food is always delicious, service is impeccable.
You can’t do better than Porter House. The food is excellent - great steaks, seafood, salads and sides. Perfect choice of breads. Service is wonderful - from the greeter at the front desk, to the bread server, the waiter and pitcher staff.
They just opened post Covid. Mixed salad was very bland, wine list was less complete and expensive. Steak was ok. Coconut cake: fantastic.
The front was not organized. Lack of the usual luster.
Had a wonderful dinner with a good friend. The service, food, ambiance...EXCELLENT! So happy to be back in my favorite steakhouse.
