Good food , good service , great view & ambiance perfect
I always have a great meal here. I guess gusts why I keep returning. The staff is so friendly and helpful. And the good is always superior. I started with the special butternut squash with hunger & yogurt soup. Delicious. And it hit the spot after walking 8 blocks in the cold wind. The filet with maitre d butter was cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. Of course it cut like butter. The onion rings were crispy. And the sautéed mushrooms were perfection when mixed with the steak. All of this was paired nicely with a glass of Margaux. All in all an excellent meal.
Great steakhouse. Excellent all around. Pricey but it’s a top steak house in NYC.
We had a great dinner before the Opera for a birthday celebration. The waitress gave great recommendations, and we enjoyed every course. The staff kept tabs on our plans, and made sure we got to the show on time, but we never felt rushed or like we were missing part of our dining experience.
Expensive but food was excellent and service was excellent as well.
Either, our server was excellent. Jao is an excellent sommalier. His selections are always great. Thank you.
Excellent. Classic steak tartare and creamed spinach with bacon both just right.
PLEASE READ -- DO NOT GO HERE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION. This was an utter disappointment. I brought my wife and my youngest son here for his 19th birthday. Privately, prior to being seated, I told the hostess about his birthday and to bring something out for dessert. I gave his name and she told me that it would be taken care of.
Well, dessert came and went and -- nothing. I didn't say anything so as not to embarrass my wife and son. After paying the $400+ plus check with tip (yes, I did tip the waiter because I did not know if it was his fault), I went over to the hostess and asked to speak with the manager. She sent over the "Wine Director", whatever that title means. He gave me his card and told me to call him and he would do something "special". How can you do something "special" to replace screwing up on my son's birthday. He never asked for my name so I don't think he was so interested doing something "special".
Management should be ashamed of themselves but, candidly, I don't think they really care.
Not a warm experience for an expensive meal. I will go back to a much less pretentious steak house, rather than returning to Porter House.
