Conveniently located in Columbus Circle, Porter House New York is the perfect setting for family gatherings, corporate events, rehearsal dinners and large gala events.
View Private Dining DetailsThe food took forever to come. We had the cote de boeuf and it came in a plate that was really not heated so the meat got cold very quickly.
Really nowhere close to other steakhouses and the price is way above that.
Definitely would not go there again.
Celebrated a birthday - had a great time and great food!
The restaurant is beautiful. Gorgeous view of the city. Service was good but not great. One expects excellence for these prices but this place doesn't deliver. Overall a pleasant experience but absolutely NOT the best steakhouse in NYC.
Went here for a recent anniversary dinner. Was easy to snag a reservation. We were seated quickly. Service was prompt and relatively attentive although our waiter seemed a bit spread out. Cocktails were well poured, and I would recommend the King's Old Fashion. The food was spectacular. Steak was perfectly cooked, deliciously flavorful, and overall worth the price. If you're looking for a special evening, with great food, drink, and a scenic view, I would highly recommend.
Friend in from out of town and she loves a good steak..had been to Porterhouse before and loved..so thought a perfect place. Terrific service as I requested a booth by the window and got one.. a bit odd that bread was served to the table before our drinks from the bar were delivered. At the bar, drinks were served without a proper cocktail napkin..when I order a proper cocktail paying the proper price, I expect a proper presentation of that cocktail..I should not have had to ask for napkins for our martinis. Details details.....
The food overall is excellent..always get a steak, and its always cooked to perfection..the sides we chose this time were fabulous..hash browns..I will get again! and their fresh baby carrots with thyme were excellent..and I don't eat cooked carrots..
GO, its a fun place that really does its best to deliver....
Best steak and view. Great service and one of the best steaks in NYC! Perfect mashed potatoes.
The three course lunch is a very good deal. We have had it several times now and enjoy it very much, but wish that some new items were added to the list. A nice risotto has been added lately, but a fish/seafood dish would be a nice addition. As the restaurant is a popular place for business lunches you might be disturbed by people talking on their cell phones. Wish they were banned.
I always have a great time and a great lunch at this place! Great service and great food!
A near perfect experience. Attentive and brilliant service, just the right balance in the course of a four hour celebration. Equally matched by exquisite steaks, sides, incredible wines and near perfect cocktails. The view was outstanding as we were lucky to get a table by the window overlooking central park. The only disappointment was the finale, chocolate cake should never be so dry. I will return and will take another serving of the incredible black truffle mash or the magical burrata in lieu of desert. Thanks for a lovely birthday celebration.
Always good
We went here at Time-Warner Center for a nice dinner before our theater event. The food preparation was excellent on every dish. It is a very nice place for dinner at its price point. The service was great, as well.
The cozy table by the window overlooking the park was fabulous! The wait staff and hostesses were so professional and accommodating. I had a salad which wasn’t great, but I’d definitely go back and try something else. The orders passing by looked great!!
The best steak and service in the city for a prime steak house.....from start to finish, Porter House excelled even on a holiday Sunday night, let that be your barometer when choosing Porter House versus another steakhouse.
The maitre d' was inattentive when we arrived, instead focusing on a conversation with a former employee visiting. They did not match the booking with OpenTable and so had an email later from OpenTable saying that we did not show up. The food was covered in far too much oil and was overly expensive for what it was.
The food was really spectacular. Best steakhouse in NYC.
The food was perfectly cooked; service was timely and professional; ambiance was warm; (the wine list was strong though a little pricier than other restaurants in the area for the same bottles)
Excellent drinks and meal. I had the scallops, Japanese Waygu, truffled mashed potatoes, and short cake. The Japanese Waygu was extremely buttery...the first time I had a Japanese steak of this quality....It was excellent and perfectly prepared, but I may stick with American Prime which tastes "beefier" to me. The king's old fashioned was excellent, and they had an excellent cabernet franc from Long Island priced at only $12 per glass....matched well with a $215 steak! The service was outstanding and the staff's recommendation were excellent as well. I will always consider this restaurant when I am in NYC.
In New York from London for birthday celebration.
The food was outstanding. We both started with the shrimp cocktail which was a deconstructed prawn cocktail. The largest shrimps ever! Delicious!
We followed this with the Porterhouse steak for two.....amazing. The best steak ever. Wine was perfect.
The staff were excellent and the ambience was just right.
It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. A must visit!
We’ll do it again
We were celebrating my wife’s 30th birthday
I love Porterhouse! Alex and the entire staff are amazing. They always accommodate my needs due to illness, which is priceless in and of itself. The food is always perfect and a treat to my senses. The service is on point! They are friendly and efficient - not once in my countless visits have I been served my entree before completing my appetizer, I never run out of water...it’s like magic, and the desserts are heavenly!
What can I say, Porter House Bar and Grill was amazing! It was our first time there and it started with my wife and I sitting at the bar having a couple drinks before dinner. Our bartender was very friendly and helpful. He also made me the best Manhattan I've ever had (which should be expected in NYC). We then made our way to the the table with out any wait time. We started with a Crab Cake and Steak Tartare which were both out of this world, the sauce served with the crab cake was superb. The Steak Tartare had the perfect amount of seasoning and presentation was beautiful. We then ordered the Porterhouse for 2 along with roasted brussel sprouts and hash-brown. The Hash-brown was cooked perfectly having a nice crisp outside and soft inside. The brussel sprouts were also roasted perfectly. We then finished our evening with Cheesecake which they were kind enough to decorate for my wife birthday. Not only was this the best cheesecake I've ever tasted but the presentation was elegant. Our service all around was great! I would look away and they would have poured more wine in my glass to keep it full. It was a fantastic experience and we will make sure to stop in the next time we are in town!
One of the most memorable restaurant experiences ever!
Incredible food, incredible service. I cannot wait to go back to NY just to eat here again. There aren't enough wonderful things to say about this restaurant. I read a few reviews that since it is attached to the mall there are children running around and climbing over booths, this is not true. I went on March 17th at 7:45pm and there were a lot of business men and people celebrating special occasions. If you are in the area I highly recommend getting a reservation here.
We didn't explore the menu -- we had Caesar salads and the Porterhouse for two, and they were both perfect. Salad was perfectly fresh, properly dressed with freshly grated, high quality parmigiano; the steak was truly prime, properly aged, perfectly medium rare with a great crust. Waiter was also a little crusty, but that's traditional at a New York steakhouse...and they could try a little harder to find some bottles under $150...
We had lunch date at the Porterhouse on St Paticks Day. We arrived early and we seated ahead of our reservation time which was very nice. I had requested a window seat overlooking the park, and we had a perfect table. There are about 8 real good view tables. Service was very good, and the lunch menu more than adequate. Their signature desert was very good, big enough for two to share. Its pricey, similar to the other steak houses in the area, lunch being about $180 plus tip. However its worth the money. Nice spot, relaxed lunch, friendly and n to stuffy.
Wonderful lunch overlooking Central Park
We had a lovely pre-Rose Theater dinner. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I began with the crab cake which was packed with lump crab meat and not too much filler. The Porterhouse steak was cooked to perfection. Onion rings were a special treat.
Perfect date.
Lunch 3 course meal was very reasonable. Good food, good price!
Excellent service and quality flavorful food. Rib-eye is juicy with nice sear!
Very good steak plus a view of Central Park.
Amazing! Thank you
Always wonderful. Amazing food and service. Their prime rib on Wednesday and Thursdays is incredible.
We were in the city for a night at the opera - staying next door at the Mandarin Oriental. Location was perfect for us. We made sure to make early dinner reservations at 5 so that we wouldn't have to rush and the timing was perfect to get us to the Met at 7. The food was wonderful as was the service. We had a beautiful view at a window table on a very snowy evening.
Always great. Wait staff are superb. My Chococlate Labs were very happy with the bones I brought home.
Excellent, elegant, high-end American classic steak and seafood, well-executed, in a lovely serene and quiet room. Very expensive. If I could, I'd come here every day for cocktails and roasted bone marrow with chanterelles, and I would be fat and happy and broke.
Although the staff was friendly and attentive, my husband and I were disappointed in the quality of the featured porterhouse steak for two. In our opinion, the meat (supposedly aged) was tender but notably lacked flavor. For the premium price, we expected much better.
We were seated in a bad table far away from the windows and too tight space differently from the first time I went to
When it’s good, it’s very, very good. And when it’s bad, you wonder why they can’t reliably deliver.
After two excellent experiences in recent months, our third visit was awful: a terrible table in the corner of their dull banquet room, confusion among multiple waiters as to who had our table, a mix-up on the bill, and, finally, the delivery of some other table’s doggie bag, which was an unfortunate souvenir of a disappointing evening.
The ball of confusion is unfortunate, since the main dining room has been nicely renovated (we could almost see it from our table), and the food and wine list are quite good. It’s pricey, which you would expect for the location, but worth it when they deliver. When they don’t, it feels like money and time poorly spent.
