Porter House Bar and Grill Ratings and Reviews
Amazing experience, i was late my guest was sat and provided service that was up to par (vik) while waiting. Dinner from apps to entree was nothing I can complain wine he chose was on par to my taste and martini for my guest had no words. our food was cooked to the right temp
Disappointed to say that the meal was disappointing. Service was abrupt and all about turning the table. The filet was excellent and cooked to the appropriate temperature. However, the strip steak was over cooked and tough. I expected more from a top steakhouse in NY.
In NYC on business and wanted one really steak dinner. Porter House recommended as alternative to Peter Luger's. Service was excellent, The bar had several choices of rye, and I chose the prime rib ( Available only on Wed/Thur) based on the waiter's recommendation. I was not disappointed. Portion was substantial and the au jus/wine reduction was excellent. Roasted Brussel sprouts accompanied the beef And were served with a nice char. For those in The Columbus circle area, I highly recommend this as a great fine dining experience.
Was so looking forward to eating at this establishment. But the service was lacking. The waitress kept on walking by our table but never filled our water glasses. Also, she inquired about our meal after we had already been eating for 20 minutes. She appeared to be more interested in the larger tables and not our 2 person meal.
Food was pretty good but the service took away our enjoyment.
What a bust!
Porterhouse was fine. Nothing memorable about it but damn fine beef and a great bar. The Som was not super friendly but he did recommend a nice wine. Overall, a good experience but nothing you can’t get at another steakhouse - and MUCH friendlier than Peter Lugers and cash only not required.
We visited here as our last meal in New York and really enjoyed it. The setting was spectacular, and the food was delicious and the service excellent. It was a great finish to our holiday, and if we go to New York again this would be on top of our restaurants to visit!
This has been my go to Steak House for some time but this last visit was bothersome. First off the entire room was freezing cold. Both myself and my guest had to wear our jackets. The temperature of the room resulted in us just wanting to eat quick and leave. Additionally the service was disappointing. I am in the hospitality business myself and the lack of detail was not what we experienced in past visits.
We had to ask our waiter 3 times to clear emptied glassware. Why he would bring us new drinks and then leave the previous glass was odd. Also, when the bread was served my guests napkin was on the table and the server placed his bread plate on top of the napkin rather than place it on his lap or even ask him to do it himself. When new flatware was brought to the table it was just left to the side rather than place it in the appropriate place. This details may seem like no big deal but ultimately we felt uncomfortable as it is not what we are used to at Porter House. The service should reflect the price that we are paying and unfortunately this was not the case this visit.
We had to ask for the check twice and then and only then were we approached to ask how everything was.
The food was as always, delicious.
A little more attention to detail is in order but it will be awhile before we return.
By the way the server attending the table next to us was on point. We wish we had her.
Went there a year ago during a prior visit to NYC and decided to go there again this past weekend. In a year, things have either gone drastically downhill or it was just a bad night. Steaks were the right temperature but burnt on the outside and dry. We ordered filet mignon at medium rare and medium temperatures, and while they were the proper shade of pink, they were dry and flavorless. Saving grace was the salad (bibb lettuce, bacon, and blue cheese). Not worth the money or the time.
It's about 'dining' - can be pricy but worth the $$'s - attractive room - professional helpful staff - good food - LOW noise level - excellent pre fix lunch seven days a week - you won't be disappointed. You can request a table that overlooks Columbus Circle and lower area of Central Park
Been to Porter House about 5 times. Never had a bad meal there. In fact, every meal has been 5 stars. The service is very good in the way you want it to be, i.e. the waiter staff is always attentive, but obsequious/over attentive. The food is always very good. The steaks are always cooked EXACTLY the way I ask it to be cooked. I feel lucky that it's a neighborhood restaurant and I can always go there with friends and family.
Once again the Porter House staff outdid itself! From our time at the bar with Eric and Patrick, to dinner with an awesome waitstaff, everything was pure perfection. Tim, the wonderful meeter and greeter, once again made our dining experience memorable. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and our desserts too good to ignore. We will be back soon! Thank you all.
Porterhouse was A+ Perfecr, window seating allowed for enjoying lights around Columbus Circle, being able to have first class dining with outstanding filet mignon was exceptional. The service was personal & attentive. We returned after the concert for desserts. Such a memorable evening thanks to the staff at Porterhouse.
