How can a restaurant such as Porterhouse not have cold sparkling water? I ve been to this place many times but it appears to be in a state of disarray. Too bad
Our waitress Jen.... what an amazing person- she was a class act and treated us like royalty. Cannot wait to go back and see Jen again!!!
My 57th birthday
It was my boy friend's dinner.
Even I checked it is birthday dinner, our table was not so romantic table so I requested can we move better table since this is birthday dinner so waiter moved us to window side seat.
Food was great and staff was very friendly. They put happy birthday message for cake.
They had great service.
We had high hopes but the Porter House was a mixed bag. The food was very good but there were service problems. It seems that our "real" waiter was not available so we waited for about 1/2 hour after we placed our drink order. That should just not happen in large high end restaurant. It was like amateur hour. It would have fine if somebody stopped by to say "we are having problems and somebody will be stopping back soon but nothing no word no information. The weird part was that it was just our table all the tables around were being served. Since this was a celebration I hesitated making waves since we entertaining guests and we were enjoying our cocktails but it felt like nobody really cared and that is just not ok. Even after our real waiter arrived service was uneven. It is a shame since the food is very good and the place is a pleasant enough looking spot. We live in midtown and dine at other steakhouses I can't imagine this happening at Wolfgang's, Keens or the Strip House where the food is as good and the service is better.
The Ribeye and Filet were good, but not great. Kind of how I felt about the whole evening.. good but not great. Premium prices should command premium meal
Steaks were excellent. Noise level was moderate. Expensive, but worth the price.
The food - steak, lamb chops, mashed potatoes with truffles, creamed spinach - was all very good, and very expensive! That said, for the prices it charges, the service was frenzied and slow. The wait staff, while friendly, seemed disorganized. It took quite a while to get drink, give our order, get dessert, and get our check.
Great!!! Very good food and service.
Beautiful view, good food and service. Good for special occasions.
Bring lots of money. This is not the “house of value”. Make someone else pays or on your business credit card.
Noise level surprisingly high.
Would like to have menu include au poive filet mignon
Pretty disappointing given the accolades this place has gotten. Average steakhouse, nice setting (and great view if you have a window table), but the steak (and sides/appetizers) did not compare favorably to what we've had at Peter Luger's, Sparks, Double Eagle, etc.
Great Steak Service was Ok at best. You would think in the place like this waiter would know more about the menu.
Excellent food. Very friendly service. The lady who brings the bread basket is so sweet!! Consistently one of the best quality steaks around. Expensive, but you get what you pay for here. So many steakhouses are cutting the quality of the meat; thankfully not here yet.
Amazing steak house! T-bone medium rare was amazing. Also, a great wine list and well knowledgeable sommelier.
This restaurant is amazing. My wife and I had a great time and the oysters were delicious.
Absolutely 1st class service: responsive and timely but never intrusive.
This restaurant is exceptional and the food is always delicious each time we dine there. We recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a great meal and a beautiful experience.
Perfection. The food was fabulous, the service couldn’t be better, very relaxed yet grand atmosphere. Love the dining room and this establushment
We went to porter house for my husband’s birthday. As usual, food and service were outstanding! Sunday mid afternoon was quiet and pleasant. Lovely table overlooking the city. Fillet mignon was outstanding, As was the salad with shrimp. Excellent seafood appetizer. Service was efficient, pleasant and friendly. Desserts came with happy birthday written on the plate in chocolate! Quite pricey, but delicious and lovely
All good but couldn't pay though open table and use my rewarda
The Porter House steak, while pricy, was the best meat we’ve ever had.
Always an excellent experience at Porterhouse. Excellent from the minute we walked in until we left. Service was top notch as was the food.
My wife and I wanted to experience a dinner in a setting that reminded us of how special we are as individual people and as a married couple.
The restaurant itself and the staff provided this, not through any special request, but by having it’s own identity and the way it conducts business.
The food was beautiful and of very high quality and the waitress out done herself with the service she provided my wife and I, as well as other guests seated around us.
One might say it’s a little pricey, but you pay for quality, excellent service and the value one has in themselves and those you dine with.
We had a fantastic time and my wife and I really did feel as though we were real
New Yorkers just for a moment.
Would we would visit this establishment again? In a heartbeat.

Great food but overall it does not meet its price point for overall service. Expressing machine being broken not a good look
Very nice place, we have visited it 4 times and have always liked the food and the place. This time the service was terrible, I would wave at the waiters, they would look at mee, see me but ignore us, it was very strange. The bus boys were very nice and service oriented but the waiters were terrible. The food was good.
We generally hit Porter House one night during our NYC trips. Enjoy it a classy place with excellent food. The waiters could be a bit more engaged/friendlier at the price level (at least those we have had lately) but we will be back.
Great food + Great service is the perfect equation to a really Great dinner.
The portions are generous and the server recommendations were right on the spot.
It made a perfect ending to a perfect day
I suggest sitting by the window- beautiful
Awesome steaks, nice service. Unfortunately didn’t get the table at the window for our anniversary date which was sad. But all in all a great evening.
It was wonderful !!!
Best staff! Especially Laurence Evans! Always a perfect meal!
The Porter House remains a top shelf New York Dining Experience on all levels. Amazing views, very attentive service, fabulous food offerings, and a wonderful wine selection for dining. Truly a ‘gem’
Quality food, decent service but ridiculous prices. Our family of four goes to one of the classic steakhouses in the city a few times a year. This one ran 30-40% more than any of them. It’s basically steak and a few seafood and other meat options. No game or anything out of the ordinary. The view may be nice, but only during daylight, but there’s none of the ambience you find at Luger’s, Keens, etc. Service was friendly but disorganized - three different people tried to take our drink order, a busboy tried to clear a place setting when one of us left the table.
Is it a good steakhouse? Yes. Is it worth a significant premium over some the far more established places? Absolutely not.
Good steak. Wait staff pushy. Excellent coconut pie.
