Phenomenal! Everything was cooked perfectly which must be why the restaurant was all booked up and still bustling even at 10:00pm on a Saturday!
None of the mains or sides had enough salt. Also the water glasses stayed empty most of dinner
We went for a 50th birthday family diner. The food was excellent , had to wait a bit even with reservations but it was worth it. A little slow on the service but again worth it. It is pretty noisy so if you want an intimate dinner this is not the place.
Porter House has wonderful ambiance and stunning views of Columbus Circle/Central Park South. The food is somewhat typical high-end steakhouse, with a few bright spots (white truffles being in season and some excellent risotto). The service was attentive but lacked personality. Overall it was a dependable choice well suited to a business meal or occasion, made significantly better by the views.
I came here with my dad, sister, and dad’s friend because Porter House was voted the best steakhouse in NYC by New York Magazine, and it DEFINITELY met our expectations! The steak was amazing, as well as the ice cream sundae at the end of the evening. I will definitely return!
Consistently Excellent and delicious cuisine. Very wonderful accommodating staff.
Elegant enough for special occasions, but unpretentious enough for everyday dining. Not cheap but actually good value. I strongly recommend.
The waiter was rude at the outset but seemed to quieter down. Refused to seat us in the nice table next to our table even though it was 9.30 and no one else was coming! The aged steak was awesome!
My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a recently closed business transaction. We requested a window table. Maybe they moved a table temporarily to accommodate, which was greatly appreciated, but it was a very small table which partially blocked the adjacent seating for another table. This made it awkward when people at the other table needed to come and go. The table was too small for what we ordered.
The level of service from initial greeting to goodbye was not what we expected when spending $600 ($225 wine) for two to dine. The som was less than engaging. I know it’s Manhattan but I expected to be offered decanting for a $225 wine. Worse than that, after the initial pour my husband had to pour every time after. We even allowed our glasses to remain empty for extended times to see if we could get service - but no luck.
At the rec of our server we ordered the porterhouse for two. The filet portion was very tender but the sirloin portion was very tough. This was unexpected for a $150+ steak. The mushrooms were cooked in a cheap oil with a resulting so so flavor. The onion rings, raw oysters, and salads were the best things we had.
We have dined at several Michelin restaurants and multiple high end steak restaurants. This one was very underwhelming considering the costs and expectations. It’s disappointing to spend this much and the best thing you had was the fried onion rings! We will not be back.
Food not worth the price. Rip off compared to Wolfgang’s Lugers etc
Lovely place on the 4th floor of an upscale mall.
Well decorated if not new or lavish but creates the desired ambience. Place is far from hashed though.
If you’re lucky you’ll sit at the four tables over looking the southern tip of Central Park.
Our Porterhouse steak was great.
Side dishes and first courses less so but good nonetheless.
Expensive but worth it.
The best Rib-Eye steak I have had in quite awhile...flavorful, degree of doneness was perfect.
We went out to dinner here after our son finished the NYC marathon. Dinner was very nice. Good wine selection. I would go again.
The service was amazing. The food amazing. The drinks amazing. The view amazing.
Amazing food, excellent service. Pretty pricey, but worth it.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our fourth visit to Porterhouse. The service, ambiance and food were all top rate, as usual. It represents the best of New York restaurants.
Been many times, but the lunch service on 11/3 was molasses slow. Took almost an hour to get our entre once ordered.
We eat here on a regular basis. It is always outstanding and fresh. The service is professional and personal at the same time!! Definitely a winner!!
Service was little bit too slow
Most of the server look like a apset
Amazing experience from entering the restaurant. Great service and amazing food! Will definitely be back
Maybe my favorite steakhouse. Delicious steak, lovely atmosphere and view.
Professional and friendly service and delicious food.
Great 3-course meal under $40 everyday, include weekends w/ view of Central Park.
Great NY steakhouse vibe in bar. Nice city views from tables in main dining room.
My husband and I dined here on a Saturday night prior to a concert up at the Beacon Theater. The food was absolutely delectable! The meal started with warm chive biscuits with a citrus butter followed by a caesar salad. The salad was perfectly tossed with crunchy garliky croutons. It was big enough for two people to share. For the entree we had the porterhouse for 2, which was AMAZING! We are big fans of Peter Lugers (#1 steak in NYC), and the steak here was on par! It was tender and buttery, with a crisp chared outside and soft pink inside. We had it with the steak fries, which were good but I'd advise ordering one side person as the sides were small. For dessert I had a delicious piece of chocolate cake and the hubs went for homemade raspberry sorbet. All in all the meal was perfect! It is on the pricier side, so come prepared to spend. Highly Recommend!
Worst steak ever. Service was good. Could’ve gotten better food at a Wendy’s.
We keep going back because the service is good; the quality of the food is outstanding; and we like the menu and the people.
Food was very good, but not what I expected for the reputation and prices -- didn't leave a lasting impression the way some other steakhouses have, and so even though it all tasted good it wound up being a bit disappointing for that.
Simply fantastic three course fixed price lunch. Fantastic view, Perfect portion wonderful value. Will now be a standard when we visit the city
Always a great dining experience! I love Porter House.
We were very much looking forward to that wonderful Steakhouse experience. And in some ways it was. The room was right, with high ceilings and a park top view. The menu was right, the feel was right. But , our server not only neglected to let us in on the specials, but never returned to report back that the lava cake was NOT available at dinner. A delicious Caesar Salad arrived split, as we ordered, with anchovies, as we ordered and we thought this is going to be good. Then my second glass of water was poured ( with ice , i had requested no ice) and it began. The filet was perfectly prepared, red and rare, but it was dry and tasteless. The hash browns were good, once they were appropriately salted. The mushrooms were dry as was the chocolate cake. I still had a lovely time... On the way out I stopped to give my review to the manager. He gave me his card and suggested we come back and he would see that everything was right. But for 200 dollars, I think I will roll the dice another steak house.
Amazing as usual
Attentive and thoughtful staff
Best steak with the best view I have had in a long time, it was worth the money
Pricey but very good
My wife and I decided to come here as a warm up to a Broadway show. We both love Wagyu steaks and wanted to see how they stacked up to our previous Wagyu experience. Overall the food was good but nothing to write home about. The scallops were over salted and the bone marrow tasted bland. The Wagyu was quite good but that has more to do with the quality of the meat than the way PBG prepared it.
Overall the food is meh at best, not what I was expecting for a special occasion.
our server Jennifer, was the perfect addition to a great night
Excellent service and the food was delicious. Very good cheesecake.
We had a delightful evening at the Porter House. My husband and I were by ourselves, so it didn't really matter that it was so loud. Our server and all the wait staff were superb and a lot of fun. We also very much enjoyed the manager who stopped by to check on us. The food was great, and it was a great evening.
This was the best beef tenderloin I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection.
