In accordance to CDC Guidelines, we are spacing out reservations to safely accommodate all guests. Parties of 2 and 3 guests are allotted 1 hour and 45 minutes dining time while parties of 4 are allotted 2 hours. Words cannot accurately describe what an amazing experience this was. Each and every dish was just incredible with flavors that make the taste buds dance ! Service was impeccable
The food was excellent; i think the portions, however, could have been a tad bigger.

Portale is a true gem. They opened right before COVID-19 hit but they have seamlessly transitioned to outdoor dining. Their food is impeccable and their service is outstanding. I can’t wait to enjoy it again when the world gets back to normal order!!
Portale has transitioned to outdoor dining with great sensitivity to Covid issues while still maintaining highest level of service, hospitality and quality. We will be back!
service/food/ambience were Fabulous
It was pandemic outdoors so I can't speak to the noise level other times. We loved everything, starting with the arrangement, the staff, the half bottle of wine and the delicious food. We had the seafood salad and lobster pasta, both of which were incredible, and ended with a fabulous dessert - butterscotch pudding with yummy things in it. It was fabulous, our most relaxed time in months.
Excellent food, just as I remember Gotham from years ago. They were very accommodating to my friend's request to swap out a few ingredients on her dish. I had the chicken and it was perfection.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The smooth burrata with sweet roasted beets and apricot wowed the tastebuds. Basically every dish was composed of coordinated flavors that had a compelling conversation in my mouth. Even the gelati were so full-flavored. The wines by the glass were also well chosen and the waiter helped us pair them with our ribeye. There was not a note off key.
New best restaurant in New York City. Everytime I eat there the food is outstanding. Staff is great!
Dan the waiter was one the best I have had in NYC in a long time. He was on point, patient and not pushy. Just exceptional!
Wine staff knew their list and was very helpful. All the food with the exception of the beefsteak was berry nicely done, especially the pasta courses.

Food was great as was the service. The brunch menu isn't as great as the dinner menu (come on, no sliders!). But nonetheless, the food was awesome, as always. Loved the bruschetta and the cinnamon bun.

There was alot on the menu we wanted to try, so we got a variety of starters and main dishes and shared them. Everything was excellent.
All the sophistication of an excellent, creative Italian restaurant without the fuss or attitude. The appetizers are perfect for a single, small course before the theatre, but the pastas are hard to resist. A most thoughtful wine list and very approachable. A well-heeled neighborhood crowd who clearly appreciate the talented team - both in the kitchen and out front.
Every time I come to this wonderful place I’m surprised all over again. Amazing food and great service. Katie’s cinnamon bun is not to be missed for brunch.

Went on a Monday night. Restaurant was busy but not packed, which made for a fairly easygoing vibe. The best aspect of this restaurant is the warm, efficient, but unobtrusive service. I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived at the host stand! The food, surprisingly, was good but not great. A $33 composed main featured a nicely cooked single filet, but the dish was ruined by the really heavy salt in the vegetable, which obliterated everything, including the beverage. Clearly, Chef Portale is aiming for a more relaxed experience than in his prior haunts and mostly succeeds. It's still expensive, though, and I should still be able to expect some precision from the kitchen.
Best experience we have had in awhile. Perfect from start to finish. Not only was the meal to perfection. The staff is courteous and professional. Can’t wait to go back
I was taken here for my birthday by my boyfriend and both of us really liked the meal and the entire experience. I started with the fennel salad and my boyfriend had the burrata. For the entree we had the cod with seafood in a lobster broth and the chicken dish. Both dishes were excellent. The wine list was very fair and reasonable.

From start to finish the experience was exquisite. Friendly and welcoming staff at every step. Helpful wait staff and sommelier to understand menu and pick the perfect bottle of wine for our dinner. The 2 piece crostini was a nice palate opener. We shared 2 primi (cavatelli & cappellacci), a secondi dish of brodetto di pesce & tiramisu dessert. Portion size enough for two of us to leave completed sated (okay a bit full). The pasta was perfectly al dente accompanied by delicious sauce. Original tiramisu presentation delightful & thorough palate pleasing. Highly recommend and hope for continued success!

What a Gem Mr Portale new restaurant offers outstanding dishes and service, from the moment you walk in until you walk out . Very cozy and a very friendly staff that describes the dishes with passion and enthusiasm. Duck breast was crispy and well balance , the oxtail pasta especial was very rich and flavorful and please don’t leave the restaurant without trying the Torta Di Pere
Great new spot similar to Charliebird - recommend sharing pastas. Good for groups.
We met friends for dinner. We certainly enjoyed Portale. The service was excellent. The wine list was quite expensive so we had glasses instead of a bottle. We loved the chicken and the branzino. The duck did not get outstanding reviews. The pasta with mushrooms was delicious but the portion seemed on the skimpy side.
The bread was good but really where else in NY do you have to pay for a basket of bread.
I would certainly say if you have a large budget for your dinner you can get an excellent meal.
Portale chef takes interesting and rewarding risks with ingredients. Such fresh ingredients and unique combinations made for a very pleasant and delicious dining experience.
