The staff and the food was excellent. Wonderful to sit looking out over the lake in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Loved the duck wings and our burgers. Was great they could sit us as we booked a table thru OpenTable but the hostess didn't have our reservation. They said they do not work with your site anymore. I suggest people call the venue directly to book a table. No doubt it will be super busy over the holidays.
Good ambience. Went there for Brunch. Good food. Partners meal was bland, but the omlet was a big portion and has good flavour.
First time at this restaurant will definitely go back
The Sunday roast beef was great but the potato/veg accompaniment was ho hum.... I actually asked for salt to attempt to give it some flavour!
Waiter was very accommodating with some dietary requests.
With very few people in the restaurant why sit 6 tables right next to each other ? Why not spread them out albeit in the same area ?!
We really enjoyed the food and the service for our small birthday celebration. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a large group (~30 people) which made it very difficult to hear each other throughout our visit. This was disappointing.
Requested patio
It was enclosed in plastic fire pit not working... it hasn't worked for months and the establishment doesn't seem to be willing to repair it
I have been to The Port several times and always loved it. But this time, we waited more than an hour for our food and I was really unimpressed with my meal - Pork and Beans. Sadly, I'm reluctant to go back.
Visited a couple of times now over the years, and have to say that the view never disappoints. Always appreciate the adventurous food items on offer.
Unfortunately, our lunch was awful. I ordered the pate which was like spam. My sister had a salad and although the presentation was lovely was so small. Our desserts took 20 minutes to arrive so our server did not charge us. Truly unfortunate my husband and I always went to Port, but I would never go back....
Port offers quality and inventive food items amidst a great setting along the waterfront of Frenchman's Bay in Pickering. While the menu items are inventive, I find there wasn't enough balance in the main course offerings and appetizers between non-seafood and seafood dishes. I would have enjoyed having a greater choice of non-seafood items on the menu.
The wine list could use some expanding as well, most notably with white wines. I think a greater range of white varietals, regions and price points would have been helpful. The red wine list is better but could also use some expansion.
Ambiance at Port is upscale and modern, but I felt they had the lights a bit too dim and could use to brighten the dining room a small amount. The main dining area has a noise level that is certainly acceptable when it is full of small groups, but it can get very loud if larger groups show up. We experienced a calm setting for most of our meal but as we were eating dessert a larger group arrived and the noise level jumped to a point where we were glad to be almost finished.
While we didn't sit at the bar this time, we have in the past and find it to be a nice spot for drinks or a quick meal. The patio in the summertime is among the best within 20 KMs.
Pricing is not unreasonable but perhaps a bit higher than the area might call for. It's good for special occasions but wouldn't be feasible to dine out regularly.
We were there for our anniversary and we quite enjoyed their unique way of noting and celebrating anniversaries by offering couples a complimentary glass of Port wine...so in other words, we enjoyed a complimentary glass of Port at PORT! Nice touch...
Little surprised to arrive for our reservation only to be ignored by the hostess. Our server, Brittany made up for our lack lustre reception with her friendly demeanor and outstanding service! The food was top notch as usual! Our thanks to Brittany! Your customer service is outstanding!
I took a friend there for her birthday and the minute I walked in I loved the place. A bit on the pricy side but since this was a special occasion for a good friend it was ok.
Great environment and experience. Menu could have more selection. Server was great, food tasted great. 4 our of 5 stars for sure
The Port has become a tradition for special celebrations. Today was a birthday. The service was great but my wife’s steak was dry. It was cooked to to her request of medium-rare but is it was not savory.
We will go back as our other special occasions at The Port have been excellent. Hopefully this was a one off.
While I can’t speak to the rest of the dinner options, I found that the SEAFOOD CASSOULET was absolutely horrible for several reasons. First, it was over garnished and over spiced. Every mouthful tasted like a spoon of dry spice. Second, something else was off with the meal.... the seafood itself was not fresh. In fact, some of it had the texture of being frozen. This restaurant needs to be all about fresh food. Two of us had that meal and both of us did not fully eat it. Really disappointed because I like the restaurant.
Food was overpriced, ( i have been in the past, and found it the same). Steak was just "ok" have had much better.
I was asked when making the reservation why we were going and I stated a Birthday and not sure why asked is it was not acknowledged anyhow.
My favourite appetizer is no longer on the menu. It was an artichoke dip. That was a big attraction for me in the past. Sure hope they bring it back.
Braedon 'a service was great !Quality of food was excellent . My wife and I had the Lamb shoulder with sides of mixed mushrooms and fried brussel sprouts !We have told many people about Port since Oct 6th... we will be back soon !
Marcello & Rosalie Scarsella
Amazing restaurant. Cannot complain... The service was perfect and we had such a great time..
Excellent food & very tasty. Our server was amazing & very personable.
A little pricy but worth it
A delightful experience. The setting was excellent, with a view of the sailboats at mooring. The decor was comfortable and relaxed. Our waitress was amazingly entertaining and helpful. The prices and menu were excellent. All in all, a very positive experience for a special occasion.
Excellent service!
Another wonderful experience at Port for my wife and I. The staff, food, and atmosphere were all top notch as usual. The food was prepared to perfection and our server was friendly and engaging. Atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Will be visiting again soon. Highly recommended.
Wonderful homemade tomatoe soup! Lovely atmosphere.
I would highly recommend Port to anyone looking for a classy mealtime experience. Although I feel there were some finer touches missing (i.e. bread to start, more options on the specials), the overall quality of the food and experience was exceptional. This was a special occasion for us (proposal) that the staff helped to go off without a hitch, from our seated location to some special requests I made for the surprise, I was very pleased with the service provided...the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thank you so much Port for giving us a memorable evening that will be with us for the rest of our lives.
Went once and wouldn't go back. The relationship between the food quality, price and service wasn't there for me personally. The food was decent but I wouldn't rave about it. The view is phenomenal - no doubt about that - granted the patio obviously depends on the weather. Maybe it is me - but portion sizes are really small these days it seems.
My friend and I both ordered the fish and chips. The fish was very dry and tasteless. Very unfortunate.
As usual the food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I believe our waitresses name was Britney and she was fantastic. I highly recommend Port for a great dining experience. The entertainment was great as well.
fantastic restaurant, the view was great, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were great. Portion size was perfect for the value.
Haven't been in a while - good improvement. Great day outside in patio and i understand they are working on a ew things like the firepit and more comfortable chairs but it was good to be outside. The mea was good as the menu improved as well. Pleasant surprise.
Great appetizers. View of the water from patio was outstanding. Calamari was great. Steak was over cooked. Service was friendly and natural.
Lunch was fine. Service slow so if you are there during your work lunch hour perhaps tell them to speed things up a bit? Loved the outdoor patio seating overlooking the Bay.
Fantastic! Service was great - friendly, attentive. Food was very good - prosciutto wrapped dates were awesome. We will certainly be back! Thank you.
What a great experience - everything from the staff professionalism to the ambiance, my family and I were very pleased as we sat on the patio for Saturday brunch!
Cod croquettes were awful. Entree (steak) was worse. They did however offer a gift card and didn't charge for the Cod.
Due to our unusually long wait for the main course, the manager generously offered to provide a complimentary dessert, which was much appreciated. Also, the waitress quickly and without question replaced my overcooked salmon, allowing me to take home the overcooked piece for sandwiches the next day. The mussels, salmon and Brussels sprouts were all delicious, and I look forward to my next visit.
Very disappointing. Menu very limited.
Pate appetizer not a true pate; need to cut with a knife. Seafood meal overpowered with lentils. Shrimp and scallops super small.
Not worth the cost.
We were there some time ago; a lot better.
Really enjoyed the service and ambiance. Food was pretty good, especially their White Bean Dip. The staff knew we were there for a special occasion, and did their best to try and make it a nice evening for the both of us.
Service was great - our waitress was friendly and efficient. Food was tasty and everyone enjoyed their meals. Enjoyed an excellent bottle of wine. Beautiful view over the waterfront.
The service was very , very slow . We had to ask for dessert menu and then waited 15 minutes to take our order but we decided to leave and not continue to waste any more of the evening in the restaurant
