Whenever my husband and I are in the area, we like to dine at Port Land Grill. I absolutely love the Red-neck eggrolls, and my husband adores the steaks. This latest visit, there seemed to be a hiccup with our reservations (which were made and confirmed via OpenTable) plus they were swamped with walk-ins, so rather than be seated in the dining room, they put us in an overflow/special events space with a few other patrons. The ambience was not as nice, but the service and food was great. The coconut cake is not to be missed. We were stuffed, but we ordered it anyway and took it home with us to enjoy with our coffee next morning.

My husband Tim and I definitely found our favorite Wilmington Restaurant. Port Land Grille was everything we'd heard it was. Charming, elegant yet casual? How did they accomplish both?! The food was incredible, the service impeccable! We're looking forward to going back soon!

My Mom and Sister joined me for a New Year's Eve dinner at Port Land. It was our first time and it was not a disappointment. The food was beautifully presented and prepared to perfection, service was friendly and warm, and the overall ambiance of the restaurant was just our style.....fashionable but not stuffy....nice and cozy. We can't wait to come back in the Spring and Summer!

We were celebrating a birthday and it was our first visit. The service was delightful, attentive. Food was excellent, 3 had steaks and one had the duck and all were perfect. Only downfall was dessert. The lava cake was very small and the coconut cake was very dry. Will still recommend and will plan on another visit for a special occasion! Might suggest to pastry chef to have creme brûlée in regular custard flavor as well as season taste.

I can't say enough about the food at Port Land, exceptional! We had a bit of everything, steak, grilled chicken and I had the enormous grilled pork chop with the most wonderful vegetables I have ever tasted, collards and sweet potatoes like I've never had before, truly memorable. Service was ok, our wait person was a helicopter and asked 4 times if she could take our orders. Diners don't like hovering wait staff. I highly recommend trying Port Land Grille, you won't be disappointed.

Reserved a table for 7:15 on a Saturday night for 6. We arrived on time, but were told there would be a wait for the table. They have a nice bar area, but unfortunately, there wasn’t room for sitting or standing because of other patrons. We ended up standing in the entry hall. Once seated we enjoyed excellent meals. My issues were with the wait time for the table, glass of wine, and the meal. The staff, while friendly, seemed overwhelmed by the numbers scheduled for reservations for the evening. Also, our table was situated in a high traffic area which made it less enjoyable and the noise level made it difficult to converse.

A lovely restaurant! We each had a salad and my husband had an appetizer. Then we shared an entree with two different sides. A great idea. Good wine list , a lovely ambiance, good service. And the price was very reasonable, especially coming from NY! All in all, a great night!

Open Table said it was a $$, which was misleading if we hadn't read the menu. It was pricey. We loved the restaurant and the food was excellent.

My wife and I celebrated a special anniversary at the Port Land Grille. We had dined there before, but it had been a while. They had us all set when we arrived and we were seated right away. Our table was sprinkled with celebratory ornaments to give it a special touch. We ordered the Vietnamese meatballs to start and they were superbly done. I would have preferred the noodles hot vs chilled but it didn't detract from the overall taste. My wife ordered the duck and I had the Striped bass. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The meal was topped off with a wonderful bread pudding and vanilla gelato dessert. All in all could not have asked for more ( well I did want non-alcoholic champagne, but it wasn't available).

This place never disappoints. From the bartender, service staff, and anyone else we met, they actually seemed to like what they were doing. The food was excellent, well presented, served at the appropriate temperatures. I hate to say we only come here a couple times a year, because it is so good I would love to dine here more often. We had two birthdays at the table and the staff could not have been more accommodating.

The location is hard to get to using GPS. Table was decorated for my husband's birthday, nice touch. Wine was expensive,12.00 a glass and not very good, steak was very fatty. For 30.00+ dollars for a steak dinner could have been a much better piece of meat. It is a steak and fish restaurant. Our waiter was nice but never saw him after meal was done, someone else asked about dessert, nothing for birthday, then handed us check a n d goodbye. Never saw our waiter to thank him. Odd.

We waited over 30 minutes to even be provided water. That was after two times of making the hostess staff aware that we had not been provided any type of service. It took an additional hour and 15 minutes to have any portion of our mail service. There was no explanation for management as to why we were receiving such poor service. Other seated near us also expressed that they had received the same low-quality service. There was nothing done by any of the staff including management to rectify such poor service.

The Portland Grill can be a hit or miss. This visit it was a miss. The place was not busy yet we waited a very long time for service. The crab cake I had seemed to be mostly filler. Thou I took most of it home and re cooked it the next day and it was much better. The desert, (they are known for their coconut cake), was shared by the table. Really very dry but then again, what I took home tasted much better the next day!!!

So, hit or miss. I've had some good meals there. As Forrest Gump said, you never know what you get in a box of chocolates!!!

Fabulous food. The sides are always perfectly planned for the main course. Ugly tomato salad is superb and always a bit different depending on the season. Also, the wait staff is very well trained in the correct way to serve and remove plates and table ware. It makes dining at Portland Grill a pleasure.

I found this place with a colleague while in Wilmington on business. The food was outstanding. We both had sea scallops, prepared differently--but both cooked perfectly. Good range of seafood and steaks/chicken/meat with creative preparation. Excellent wine list, as well. It was quiet even with a half-full dining room. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The patio area outside is lovely. Would definitely go back and recommend to a friend.

This was our second dinner at Port Land Grille and it did not disappoint. The food was very good, but a bit pricey...nice for a special occasion or date night. I like the way you can choose your fish or steak and then can choose the preparation and sides from several options. The service was attentive and Anne, the owner, was very friendly. They think of everything...they even have reading glasses at the hostess station to help with the small print on the menu. We were there on a Friday night and they were very busy but the tables are large so you don't feel crowded. We will definitely be back.
