   Port Land Grille is usually the place I take out of town guests. Haven't been in a while. Feel like they are trying to skimp. Usually the Wedge Salad is huge. I had the fish with the risotto preparation. There was barely any risotto mixture.

   The main reason for my low rating was the Service. Our waitress was non-existent and ambivalent. After appetizers my wife and I waited an usually long time to get our entrees. I expected our server to at least check in with us during the wait. She did a quick "fly by" and I asked for our wine. The wine was eventually brought to us by another server who said he saw the glasses sitting at the bar. Still no entrees and waitress. Ambience was nice, wine list impressive. The Steak Knife salad (Wedge) was delicious. My Prime(?) Ribeye was heavily salted and grainy. Asparagus was overcooked and the Potatoes were slightly greasy. A terrific dish if prepared better. My wife's Short Ribs dish were average. We left the restaurant in disbelief wondering what had just happened. No mention was made about the reason for dining there; Anniversary celebration (42 years.) Upon leaving I did check with the Hostess and she did see that note on our reservation. We will not go back. A sub-par experience/value.

   Portland Grille continues to shine amongst Wilmington restaurants. The ambiance outside is gorgeous. The food, wine list and service are way above others in Wilmington!

   When we arrived, the GM was at the hostess stand and was asking servers to take us. The wait staff declined because we had an 8:15 reservation. A little discretion would have gone a long way. We felt like we were intruding as soon as we walked in. At the table, the crab dip was served with potato chips. They delayed giving our order to the kitchen, so after 20 minutes of waiting, the waitress came back and informed us that they were out of filets. When our food arrived, only two of the three dishes made it to the table. It took approx. 7 minutes for the third dish to make it out of the kitchen. Disappointing experience.

   Beautiful restaurant, excellent service and creative cocktails. Only negative was the price to flavor ratio on my filet. While it was cooked perfectly, it didn't appear to be seasoned at all which was less than thrilling for $50. Would return but would likely make a different entree selection. My husband's halibut was great, so maybe seafood would be a better choice.

    So it was an absolute letdown. After years of wanting to dine here, we finally were able to go. I was happy to see Chilean Sea Bass on the menu, upon taking our order the waiter returns to tell me they did not have this item due to not being as bad to order it. So disappointing. It was the whole reason for our restaurant for the evening. Needless to say, we will not return.

    My wife and I had dinner as Port Land Grille was recommended to us by our friends and neighbors...they were there about a week prior. We made our reservations on line...also noted it was our anniversary. We started with a drink at the bar (the bar was small yet we were able to get a seat (seating approximately for 10) and the drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. I had a Martini and my wife had a Lemon Drop Martini...both excellent with great friendly service. We dined outside and the sitting was very nice...as was the service. We were next to the Fire Pit however as it was cool outside and they did have a few of the external gas heating fixtures however they were not turned on (we noticed them as we were having desert or we would of asked to turn them on as the fire pit was not able enough...yet we were fine (we were not freezing or anything like that; just a little uncomfortable). We started out with a Caesar Salad $14.00) which we shared...it was excellent and enough for two. My wife ordered Halibut and said it was excellent...and it was an able piece of fish...I ordered the Grilled Duck which was excellent (actually the Duck Leg) with Red Cabbage and potato's. She loved her dinner; I felt mine was very good however it was not exceptional and the duck serving could of been larger for the $34.00 price. We ordered the Bread Pudding for dessert($10.00) and it was served nice and hot...with delicious ice cream. Overall it was a great dinner with exceptional service however I would not give it a 5 star rating...perhaps 4.5! It would of been nice if they made note of our anniversary as it was on the reservation. Either way, I would recommend the server (Caitlin) as she was very attentive and friendly!

    We dined at Port Land Grille for the very first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were very excited from the reviews and photos we saw online. The restaurant did not disappoint. The outdoor and indoor seating areas were beautiful and the service was incredible. My husband took the time to savor every bite of his food instead of eating quickly like usual. We will absolutely be back to dine here and are already looking forward to it!

    Awesome atmosphere. Choice to sit inside or out on the patio. Our server Calvin was top knotch; informative, attentive, but not overbearing. The food was phenomenal. Great taste and an awesome mix of flavors. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and they made it an awesome night.

    Portland Grille is a fine dining restaurant with an extensive wine list featuringwood fired steaks and seafood. The entire party had beef tenderloin that was cooked perfectly. Our guests, who have traveled around the world said" it was the best steak that they had ever eaten". The flourless chocolate cake was also a favorite. We ate on the patio which has a firepit and a lovely garden including fountains and a pond. This is the perfect setting for any date night. Expect to pay around $50 per entree.

    My parents came in to visit and I wanted to take them out to a great place and boy were they pleasantly surprised by the fantastic dinning experience we had at Port Land Grille. My kids beg me to take them all the time. It’s always a top notch dinning experience. We absolutely love the food. My kids are foodies. We moved here from NY and have been on a mission to find a restaurant that could compare to a Manhattan high end restaurant that we used to be able to enjoy and we have definitely found it at Port Land Grille. I had the Lamb Shank and polenta and it literally fell off the bone. FANTASTIC!!! My mother and wife had the salmon and said it was to die for. Don’t miss a chance to have an excellent meal with great service. ENJOY.

    Perfect date night destination. Everything was great! They brought back some great menu items that had disappeared. The fried green tomatoes were excellent, the filet was perfectly prepared, and dessert was delicious and great for sharing. Our server put us right at ease, with no rush, and made excellent recommendations. Perfect evening!

    There is no question that Portland Grill should be considered one of the best restaurants here in Wilmington and probably elsewhere. All dishes are served impeccably by waitresses that are trained to pay attention to every detail and customers' needs. Among the excellent appetizers, Shawn's "Country Style" Duck Terrine ($14.00) was terrific! Despite their glorious cuisine and great effort, be prepared to be shocked by the bill. $200.00 dollars for two persons dining al fresco, is not for everyone! Not sure how long we can all continue to muster paying such exuberant prices!

    While the food was a mixed bag, the service was outstanding. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us at just the right times. She was also very understanding with the allergies one in our party has. And when one of the dishes we ordered (Wagu meatballs) was undercooked they not only corrected it but the manager came by and told us he insisted that we would not have to pay for it.     We are frequent diners at PG. First time sitting outside and it was lovely. Our server, Calvin, paced the evening perfectly. The Drunken Crab Dip was excellent. Our fish entrees were prepared and presented perfectly. The Peach Bread Pudding was full of flavor and another great addition to the menu. Thanks for everything.

    Our server, Calvin was very attentive and professional. The crab dip was horrible. Mostly mayonnaise, little claw meat. The chips that were served with it were soggy with oil ( not fried properly) and the old bay salt was too heavy on some areas( making it inedible) and then none on other chips. My salmon was delicious, however, the sides were very sparse.... 2T of risotto and spinach. My husbands's fillet was well prepared. When I made the reservation, I noted that we were celebrating a big anniversary. There was no acknowledgement from the restaurant which was disappointing. This USED to be a great restaurant.     Everything was wonderful as usual , Calvin was wonderful. However being out of three of the main entrees was a little much! All were my top three picks to eat!     This was a reservation I made for my parents for their 60th wedding anniversary. I couldn’t be there but the Manager, Eric, and his staff treated my parents like family. They had a wonderful meal. My Dad said everything was “top notch”. Thank you for making their anniversary so special!

    Excellent food, wonderful service. For us, the noise level meant almost more than anything: soft furnishings including carpeting, curtains, panelled ceilings, upholstered chair seats. All these were so very helpful in keeping down the noise level for a hearing impaired customer. We will be back!

    Well for starters we were out of our element Typically not the type of restaurant we visit But so glad we did Our server Joe was exceptionally polite, respectful, knowledgeable and professional Food - bone in pork chop entree was out of this world delicious / short ribs didn’t live up the reputation they had gotten - tasted burnt We didn’t inform our server just politely ate them anyway Chocolate chess pie was breathtaking Coconut cake not so much - dry and little frozen Cocktail was extremely tasty - big shout out to the bartender Overall we had a blast and will return again The biggest of thanks to Joe, you were above and beyond amazing and awesome

    Delicious meal. Made reservations day prior. We ordered ribeye with lobster butter and a tenderloin. Sides: Fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Split a wedge salad for an appetizer. All prepared well. Service outstanding. Was a special occasion, but would most definitely go back “just because”!!
